The salmon run season is around September to October—be sure to visit during this time!

All ten of Shimoda’s beaches closed their swimming season on August 31. Thank you to everyone who visited this year. After the season ends, designated swimming and surf zones disappear, and regulations such as "prohibited," "caution," or "permitted" no longer apply; lifeguards and beach patrols that were on duty at the bathing sites are withdrawn. A water-accident advisory is also in effect. With hot days likely to continue, please take care of weather, water temperature, and wave conditions if you go swimming. Be equally careful around other bodies of water. Even outside the official swimming season, you can still enjoy time by the sea as marine therapy. For marine sports, there are experiences suitable for beginners, including sea kayaking, surf lessons, and diving. First, let us explain that our town, Tsunocho, is home to a tire test course operated by TOYO TIRE Corporation. That test course exists in both Tsunocho and Saroma, Hokkaido. According to what we heard, summer tires are tested in Tsunocho and winter tires in Saroma, and then they become commercial products. This TOYO TIRE test course is what linked Tsunocho and Saroma as sister cities. Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Concert "A Melody of Celebration" On September 2, 2025, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will mark its 80th founding anniversary. Also, Vietnam Day will take place on September 9 at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. In this memorable year, a concert produced by Vietnam’s leading musician Vui Cong Duy will feature performances by Truong Vu, who is based in the United States and active worldwide; seven instructors from the Vietnam National Academy of Music who are currently in Japan to perform at the Vietnam Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai; and ten string players from the Osaka Symphony Orchestra representing Sakai City, all performing together at Fenice Sakai. Today, I attended the Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine Monthly Festival. The wind chimes on the veranda had changed to sky blue. At today's monthly festival, we were able to see the dance of Urayasu because of the dance training at Meiji Jingu Shrine.
