Nice to meet you! We are the Hokuryu Town Sunflower Tourism Association, the tourism association of Hokuryu, Hokkaido. Hokuryu, Hokkaido, lies about a two-hour drive from Sapporo and is a small town of roughly 1,600 people. Hokuryu is nationally famous for its sunflower fields, and it ranked first nationwide in the 2022 list of “Sunflower Fields You Want to Visit in Summer 2022.” Hokuryu Sunflower Village is one of Japan’s largest sunflower fields, with about two million sunflowers blooming across land roughly the size of five Tokyo Domes. During the season, about 200,000 visitors come from all over the country. From the two-story observation deck near the parking area, you can take in an endless sea of sunflowers—a perfect photo spot.
