Since this is my first post today, I would like to briefly introduce information on Rishiri Fuji Town, to which the Rishiri Fuji Town Tourism Association belongs, and introduce the daily life and charm of Rishiri Fuji Town from the next time.

~Introduction of Rishiri Fuji Town~

Rishiri Fuji is a town located in the Soya region of the northernmost part of Hokkaido, consisting of two areas, Oshidomari and Oniwaki, on the east side of Rishiri Island.

As of February 2023 (Reiwa 5), the town has a population of about 2,200 and is mainly based on the core industries of fisheries and tourism, and 2020 (Reiwa 2) (2020) marked the 140th anniversary of the opening of Rishiri Fuji Town.

Starting with Mt. Rishiri (elevation 1,721m), which has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, there are rare alpine plants and more than 320 species of wild birds that can be seen from 0m above sea level, as well as abundant marine products such as Rishiri kelp, sea urchin, scallops, abalone, and hokke, which are known as luxury products.

We look forward to seeing you on Rishiri Island.

[English/Japanese] Mitsuhashi", a store specializing in natto (sweetened fermented soybeans), is a 15-minute walk from the school. Kanro natto is a Japanese sweet made by boiling down beans in molasses and sprinkling sugar on them. Mitsubashi's natto is very carefully made and has an elegant taste. When I talked about natto to foreign students, they all reacted to the word "natto" and made a disgusted face. There are so many foreigners who do not like natto. But when I explain it properly, they all say they would love to try it. Since there are many bean snacks in Southeast Asia, they are interested in kanro natto. They don't sell kanro natto in midsummer, so if you are interested in kanro natto, please go there before summer. A 15-minute walk from the school is Mitsubashi, a honeydew natto specialty store. Honeydew natto is a Japanese confectionery made by boiling beans in molasses and sprinkling them with sugar. Mitsubashi's honeydew natto was made very carefully and tasted elegant. When I talk to international students about honeydew natto, they react to the word "natto" and make disgusted faces. There are so many foreigners who don't like natto. However, if you explain it properly, everyone will definitely want to try it. There are many bean sweets in Southeast Asia, so they are worried about honeydew natto. It seems that honeydew natto is not sold in midsummer, so if you are interested, please go there before summer.
