Early autumn in Gokase 🌾 Mornings and evenings have turned quite cool — actually almost cold at times 😂 The rice fields are golden and harvest has begun; you can see rice hung out to dry in places 😊 Spider lilies seem past their peak, but cosmos flowers were blooming everywhere 🌸 When I visited the cotton fields in Kuraoka, the fluffy cotton bolls had burst open 😍 I enjoyed the pleasant autumn breeze and felt the season of harvest 😆

Every year, Iiya Shrine in Hamamatsu holds an Annual Grand Festival on the 22nd of September, the day of the death of the God of worship. And at night, we comfort the spirits with hand-held fireworks and other divine events. On the day of the event, I drove my car to see the hand-held fireworks and visited Iiya Shrine. Powerful performance in which you hold a tube filled with gunpowder in your hand and are bathed in sparks all over your body It was powerful enough to blow away the summer heat

Pigeon Home Products, a maker and seller of skincare items, teamed up with Atami City to develop a hand cream blended with Atami hot spring water called YUKUMI. This new souvenir uses Atami’s hot springs and adds a fresh option to local gift choices. The product name comes from “yukumi dochu,” the historic practice in which the Tokugawa family had hot spring water transported from Atami to Edo Castle. Local designers contributed to a package inspired by retro bathhouse tiles. The cream keeps fingertips moist and silky. It features a plum scent inspired by Atami Plum Garden, offering a subtly sweet, refreshing aroma that helps create a relaxing effect. The product was developed to soothe both hands and the spirit. When you visit Atami, please consider buying one for yourself or as a gift for someone special! Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Introducing participating kilns / 05 Amakusa Karatsu Gozakameyama Kiln The 36th Amakusa West Coast Autumn Kiln Tour will take place over five days from Thursday, October 9th to Monday, October 13th (holiday), using six kilns in Reihoku and Amakusa City as venues 😊 During the event you can see new works on display and buy items at discounted prices, so please take this chance to visit and enjoy Amakusa ceramics and the Amakusa West Coast scenery 🌊🌅♪ (Tenjiku Gama will not be participating 🙇‍♀️🙇) 🍁🍁🍁 Introducing the participating kilns / Odatoko lies south along the Amakusa West Coast at the point where the road bends toward the sea. Perched to overlook a calm shoreline popular with divers and kayakers, Amakusa Karatsu Gozakameyama Kiln stands here. Previously known and loved as Amakusa Karatsu Jurō Kiln, it has reverted this autumn to its former name, Amakusa Karatsu Gozakameyama Kiln. The exhibition room displays pottery reflecting the distinct personalities of the married couple. Mr. Kameyama Go trained in Karatsu, famed for Karatsu ware, while his wife, Sanae Kameyama, studied ceramics at the pottery college in Arita. Even within Saga Prefecture, Karatsu and Arita ceramics differ greatly in materials and characteristics — clay or stone, pottery or porcelain. Mr. Go’s pieces attract the eye with striking forms and tranquil, nature-like patterns woven from clay and glazes. The lines on his pottery, reminiscent of classical Karatsu motifs, embody a ‘‘beauty of subtraction.’’ Ms. Sanae uses a blue pigment called gosu to paint modern, expressive designs by underglaze before applying glaze. Her work carries a warm charm that brings a smile to the viewer’s face. Although they work with opposite materials, the couple’s distinct styles complement each other. These works arise precisely because Amakusa offers both types of materials. The exhibition room, filled with vessels nurtured by Amakusa’s nature, radiates an unexpectedly rich harmony. Please pick them up and savor their world. 📍Amakusa Karatsu Gozakameyama Kiln 426 Shimoda-minami, Amakusa-cho, Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture 863-2802 TEL: 090-5081-1316 🗺️ The back of this year’s kiln tour flyer has been renewed! Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Autumn Kiln Tour — Featured Kiln / 04 Unshū Kiln

The 36th Amakusa West Coast Autumn Kiln Tour will take place over five days from Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13 (public holiday), with six kilns in Reihoku and Amakusa City serving as venues.
During the event you can enjoy new works on display and for sale, plus special discounted sales. Take this chance to visit and enjoy Amakusa ceramics and the Amakusa West Coast scenery 🌊🌅.
(Note: Tenjiku Pottery Kiln will not participate.)

🍁🍁🍁

Featured Kilns /

Unshū Kiln sits in a small seaside settlement where you can hear the surf, roughly halfway along the road that leads to the Tomioka Peninsula in Reihoku.
One late-summer day I visited the kiln owner, Ms. Miyoshi, a friendly person who always carries a light, cheerful air.

For this Autumn Kiln Tour, alongside Unshū Kiln’s staple vessels, you will see works using the vivid red cinnabar (shinsa) pigment, a color believed since the Jomon Period to ward off evil.

Also noteworthy are charming pieces inspired by Amakusa sea urchins. They appeared a few years ago and have returned for this Autumn Kiln Tour after a long absence.

During the exhibition the kiln will sell succulents including cacti, and offer painting-on-ware experiences. Please drop by—unexpected encounters and discoveries await you.

“Sea glass” refers to fragments of glass you can find along seashores and the shores of large lakes. Their unique muted tones and delicate beauty feel like gifts from the sea. Accessories made with that sea glass are sold at “Dotto Kitamae,” located on the grounds of the Kitamaebune Shipowners’ House Ukon Family Museum! When light passes through, sea glass shines with a distinctive glow—why not add it to your new-life wardrobe for a stylish touch?

[Kanagawa] Hokule'a Shonan / 5 Star PADI Scuba Dive Center
Sep. 30, 2025
To Nishi-Izu and Tago! Boat Diving Report 🌊⛵️ on a Sunny Sunday in Autumn Hello, this is 😊 Hokule'a Shonan The other day, we went boat diving to the popular area "Tago" in Nishi-Izu! ⛴️✨ Speaking of Tago, it is a diving spot with a wide variety of terrain and highly transparent waters. There is also good Access that can be reached on a day trip from Kanto, and it is 🙌 an area that is often requested in Hokule'a Shonan The first one this time is the point of the open sea, "Floating Shimane off the coast". This is one of the longest places for divers, and when you dive, you will see a spectacular fish shadow 🐟🐟🐟 in front of you! Snapdragons and squirrels flocked and danced 🎆 like fireworks in the sea The sight that covers one aspect of the scene will take your guests breath away ✨ And the second is to the mysterious cave point 🕳️🤿 that represents Tago. As you walk through the Gari, the light shining in from the end of the water channel shines in fantastically, as if you have jumped 🎬💫 into a scene from a movie The scenery of light and shadow touches my heart no matter how many times I visit. That's the real thrill of "cave diving"! On this day, the guests who participated in the yellowtail for the first time in a long time were with us, and the calm way of diving without feeling blank was really wonderful 😀👏 And next time, it's finally the 150th dive 🎉✨ that will be memorable for the guest! Spending time thinking about "where to dive" together is also an important pleasure 💕 of diving life There is a to 🙏🌺 everyone who participated On a pleasant sunny autumn Sunday ☀️🍂, surrounded by the best sea and smiles, we were able to share a happy time. Hokule'a Shonan Held in 🚤🏝️ tours not only in the vicinity of Kanagawa but also in various areas such as Nishi-Izu, Higashi-Izu, and Izu Oshima Island If you would like to try boat diving or cave diving, or if you would like to welcome a commemorative dive in a special place, please feel free to contact us 🤗✨ We look forward to working with you on your precious moments with peace of mind and reliable support! 💙 We also support English.
