The Odaya Festival, the annual celebration of Toyouke Daijingu located in Furumachi, Nagawacho, will take place over two days from Tuesday, January 14, 2025, to Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Each year visitors can enjoy elaborately designed floats and other attractions.

For the Odaya Festival, traffic restrictions will be in effect in parts of the Furumachi district.
Visitors arriving by car are asked to use the temporary parking lots.

On January 12, a heartwarming winter event will take place at Mure Station, Furuma Station, and Kurohime Station in Nagano Prefecture. First-year student volunteers from Shinshu University planned this event to promote use of the Kita-Shinano Line while addressing local challenges. At the event, you can enjoy warm drinks and food from food trucks, build snowmen, and have snowball fights to fully enjoy the charms of winter.
Locals and visitors from afar are all welcome!

With a free ticket from Nagano Station, you can easily visit all three stations. The event is perfect for people in the neighborhoods around the stations as well as those coming by train 🚃

The “Goshoin” castle seal—now a staple among castle goods—appears at Kuniyoshi Castle as the “Gosho-shuin.”
Wakasa Kuniyoshi Castle History Museum will begin selling a New Year limited castle seal. It features a gold “snake” seal appropriate for the New Year of Reiwa 7.
In keeping with Kuniyoshi Castle’s reputation as an impregnable fortress, the museum also offers a “Pass-the-Exam Version” stamped with the “Unfallen” seal for the upcoming exam season, as well as a “Castle Visit Commemorative Version.”
For the start of the New Year, and for examinees, these make a fitting protective charm for success in exams.

●I want to eat deliciously this winter! Enjoy Echizen Crab in Echizen Town

Echizen Crab was lifted in November. Echizen Crab is one of the specialties of Fukui Prefecture.
It is also featured in brochures for tourists. Fishing starts on November 6 and is in season until mid-March.
It's for a limited time, so I want people I know outside the prefecture and outside of Japan to taste it.

This time, we will introduce Echizen Crab Spots that you can enjoy even on a day trip Drive.

How would you answer if someone asked, "What is Echizen Crab?"

Echizen Crab calls snow crab Landings in Fukui Prefecture. In the San'in region, pine needles are called ni, and in Noto and Kaga, they are called kanoga.

There are three points to keep in mind when introducing Echizen Crab

1. Echizen Crab is a male snow crab. Females are called seikogani
2. A yellow tag with the name of the fishing port is attached as proof of Landings in Fukui Prefecture
3. Echizen Crab is the No.1 in Japan in terms of fishing and quality. It is also presented to the Imperial Family

The facility where you can learn about crabs is the Echizen Crab Museum. It is Located in Roadside Station Echizen. This time, I went to hang out with my Chinese friends. When I asked, "Do you want to join?" he said, "I definitely want to join!" I didn't expect people to be so interested.

At the Echizen Crab Museum, you can compare Echizen Crab and various types of crabs. There are also aquariums where real crabs are bred. It is highly recommended because it is easier to convey because it can be explained by actually seeing it with the eyes.

You can actually see the tools used for crab fishing, and there are plenty of Documents, so you can learn a lot.

This time, I headed to "Echizen Uoichi" across the street from the Roadside Station Echizen.
There was a row of freshly boiled Echizen crab. Echizen Crab, Seikogani, Red Snow Crab, etc. This is my first time buying Echizen Crab in Echizen Town. I was surprised that it was more reasonable than I expected.

Echizen Crab come in a variety of sizes and prices. If you tell them your budget, the store will choose the recommended one, so let's talk about it.

●Do foreigners like crabs?

Speaking of Fukui, Echizen Crab, and speaking of Echizen Town, delicious seafood. I would like foreign customers to eat it as well.

However, depending on the country or region, there is no custom of eating seafood, or it is not edible. Squid is not good for some people, so be sure to check well in advance. Of course, there are foreigners who come to Fukui to see Echizen Crab.

Here are the favorites of the people I've met by country and region. Please refer to it.

・United States
Many people on the Saikai coast of the United States had the opportunity to eat lobster, so there was not much resistance. Sushi is a widespread part of Japan culture, so many people like raw fish.

・China
Even in China, it is a small yellowtail, but they eat crab, so Echizen Crab was happy to eat it. Crab miso and uchiko are also my favorite foods.

・Asia
Tastes change depending on which region of Asia you are in. The image is that shrimp are eaten, but raw fish depends on the person. Bangladeshi children were not in the habit of eating seafood, and sashimi and fish dishes in general were not favorite.

・Australia
Australia is a multi-ethnic country, and they are familiar with various food cultures on a regular basis. There are many people who like Japan sushi. Echizen Crab was also happy to eat.

・Europe
There are many countries in Europe that do not have the habit of eating fish, so be sure to check carefully.
Inland Australians didn't even like the smell of soup stock. Danes, who have a habit of eating salmon, also have sashimi depending on the person. If you are used to it on a regular basis, you will be desensitized to the smell of fish and the taste of dashi, so be careful when you go to the fish market.

・Israel
Judaism forbids eating seafood without scales. Shrimp and crabs fall under this category, so check with Jewish people in advance. Some sects of Islam do not eat seafood such as shrimp and crabs in the same way. The food varies greatly depending on the religion, so be sure to check carefully.

\ 2 special Soba noodles restaurants in Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture /

When you come to Fukui Prefecture, the dish you want to eat is Soba noodles.
In February 2021, the online media "Netorabo" conducted a "prefecture ranking where Soba (buckwheat noodles) is delicious", and Fukui Prefecture was by far the first place.

This time, we would like to introduce two Soba noodles restaurants in Echizen Town where you can eat delicious Soba noodles.

Soba noodles shop in Echizen Pottery Village "Juwari Soba Daikonsha".
You can taste 100% Soba noodles, which are made from 100% genSoba from Fukui, and are made with stone-ground homemade flour.
Utsuwa is, of course, "Echizen pottery".

The Soba noodles served in a Echizen Pottery bowl in a tasteful Japan house makes you feel very elegant.

One of the popular Soba noodles at Daikonsha is "Kurumi Soba noodles"
Soba noodles that do not use any animal products in the soup stock and can be enjoyed even by vegans.
Since it was cold, I received a warm "warm walnut".
The fluffy walnut-flavored soup goes well with Soba noodles.
I thought it would be sweeter, but it was easy to eat.
"Pure chicken Soba noodles" is a combination of delicious pure chicken and firm broth and is very delicious.

For dessert, I also received the restaurant's mother's recommended "Black Honey Soba Dango" and "Soba Scraping Zenzai".
It is much softer and chewier than the Soba noodles I know.
And it was as satisfying as a child's fist.
But since it is Soba noodles, you can eat it easily.

Because it is a restaurant that has been around for a long time, you can enjoy delicious Soba noodles that you are particular about.

I received a limited quantity of "Jumbo shrimp ten grated daikon soba"
Because it is called jumbo, it is too big to fit in a bowl of Soba noodles.
The batter is crispy and this alone is very satisfying.
Soba noodles are also firm and aroma.
Both zaru Soba (buckwheat noodles) and warm Soba noodles are really delicious.

"Shrimp Tempura Egg Toji Soba (Buckwheat Noodles)" is also full of volume. The shrimp heaven is also large and there are plenty of eggs.
In addition, the Soba (buckwheat noodles) menu is very substantial.
All of them seem and be satisfying.

There are many small size Soba noodles for children and side menus, so it is a restaurant that you want to come to with your family and friends.

I also tried the staff's recommended "cold guy with sesame seeds".
It is as soft as regular tofu and has a lot of sesame seeds in it, which is very flavorful. The children were flattened in no time.

All of the Soba noodles restaurants are attractive and delicious in their own way.

Today we’ll introduce what to wear for the cross-country skiing leg of the Winter Triathlon. Many people who want to compete wonder what to wear. You might be curious how it differs from what you’d wear at an alpine ski resort.
For cross-country skiing, lighter clothing than typical downhill ski wear is best. Choose garments that allow free movement and are easy to take off and put on. When I first competed, I wore downhill ski clothing and got hot while moving, which left me sweating and my clothes soaked… For that reason, wearing quick-drying base layers to prevent chill from sweat is essential! ✨ (The third photo shows me in downhill ski wear—funny, I know.)

3. Rishigahira Park

It is said to be an unexplored area of daffodils, and the superb view point that is often used on posters is the Rishigahira Garden.
