I visited the Tokachi Ranch Observation Deck recently🐎
That day I was lucky enough to see a large movement of horses!
Watching them gallop past right in front of me was breathtaking and full of power!
Against the vast landscape and blue sky, it was a moment that felt truly like Tokachi🌿

This birch avenue in Otofukecho has been designated a “beautiful forest.”
Right now the leaves have turned a deep green, and the contrast of the blue sky with the white trunks is strikingly beautiful.🍃

A hot air balloon rose, and I found myself staring in fascination…!!
On a day like this, the Hidaka Mountains must be sharply visible, offering a spectacular view👀🗻

This is a two-day, one-night trip where you can experience organic farming that is gentle on the environment and your body.

You will visit wine producers and farmers who practise organic farming, and see their farms where they grow their produce with care and attention, relying on the power of nature without using any chemical fertilisers or pesticides.

You will enjoy tasting different organic wines and lunch and dinner made with plenty of vegetables, and experience the difference in flavour.
Accommodation is in ‘glamping,’ a unique outdoor experience in Tokachi.

The next day, you will create eco-friendly upcycled products using discarded vegetable peels and participate in traditional Japanese paper-making.

Yukata Night 2025 — held on August 10 🏮
Thank you very much for the large turnout!

The evening opened in splendor with a balloon release and a performance by Otofukecho Komadaiko, and the venue rocked with events like the log-cutting race and the yukata contest 🔥
Children’s festival stalls and food stands lined the area, creating a day filled with local warmth 👘

It was our first time hosting this event, and thanks to everyone, we created wonderful summer memories.

On Saturday, August 2, the Otofuke Town Chamber of Commerce Summer Festival Cooling Fireworks Display will take place 😊

A beer garden and festival stalls line the grounds, with performances including Otofuke Town Komadaiko drumming, Studio ZERO dance, Otofuke Dream Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Kenji Nanda impersonation show, and a karaoke contest, creating a varied stage program!!

Because the terrain is flat, you can see the fireworks up close for an impressive experience!!
About 1,000 fireworks will light up the town’s night sky😍😍

August 9th "Mugikansai" festival celebrates the wheat harvest! 🌾
In Otofukecho, the town with Japan’s highest wheat production, the wheat harvest thanksgiving festival "Mugikansai" will take place.
The festival runs simultaneously at three venues: Roadside Station Otofuke, the wheat fields of Miura Farm, and Roadside Station Garden Spa. You can touch, see, taste, and enjoy wheat in many hands-on experiences. A stamp rally will also be held!

A beautiful weir standing quietly in the great outdoors💧
Surrounded by the clear waters of the Tokachi River and lush greenery, it’s a place where time soothes the heart🍃✨
From around September to October, one of the charms here is watching autumn-returning masu salmon (autumn masu) swim upstream to spawn🐟

Tokachigawa Onsen district has welcomed its fifth winery in the area, Tokachigaoka Winery, which opened on April 18th.

Each grape cluster is tended carefully over time, grown organically while daily efforts keep pests under control.
Basked in sunlight, the grapes develop high sugar levels and a perfect balance of acidity.
Inside the shop, paid tastings of Otopuke Roman are available (with cheese snacks), so be sure to give them a try.😊

We also sell cheeses that pair well with wine, Aizawa Winery’s Sacherella and Ryunosuke, Memuro Winery’s Yorokobu, Tokachi Wine’s Jewel of Tokachi, and Tokachi Makiba no Ie Winery’s Yusui.

The guardian deity of the hot spring town at Roadside Station Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen, “Ideyu no Iwaza”♨

It is said that a spirit was divided from Yudonosan Shrine and enshrined as the guardian deity of Tokachigawa Onsen.
People believe it brings blessings for household safety, prosperous business, matchmaking, and children.

“Ideyu no Iwaza” stands outside, reached by entering the main entrance of Roadside Station Garden Spa and passing through the central larch corridor.

The cows looked hot, but the sunny weather felt wonderful. 🌞

At Totoroado, you can watch fish swimming close by through glass!
I visited on June 6th and was able to see cherry trout (sakuramasu) making their way upstream!
One of the charms is that different fish migrate at different times of year🐟✨
It's a great spot for families with children!

The Soft-Serve Rally 2025 has started again this year!

This is the caramel soft-serve from Roadside Station Garden Spa Kikage no Cafe.🍦
The rich caramel sauce and the soft-serve paired perfectly and were absolutely delicious.❤️
There are other Tokachi-inspired soft-serves too, like Bean! Bean! Bean! soft-serve and Camembert cheese soft-serve.✨

It snowed recently, but the cherry blossoms are starting to bloom little by little.

Snow still dresses the mountains, and on clear days you can enjoy beautiful mountain views, so here are a few highlights.

■Tokachi Millennium Forest @tokachi_millennium_forest
From the vast grounds you can see the Hidaka Mountain Range.
During Golden Week, May 3–6, the Spring Garden Festa takes place.

■Tokachigaoka Observatory
Located near Tokachigawa Onsen, it offers views of the Tokachigawa River, the hot spring town, and the Hidaka Mountain Range.
It’s also a lovely spot for watching the sunset.

■Shinarashiyama Sky Park Observatory
The Tokachi Plain spreads below like a patchwork quilt, making it a perfect panorama point, with the Hidaka Mountain Range visible behind.

■Obihiro Shrine @obihirojinja
Cherry trees along the approach and within the shrine grounds are beginning to bloom.
The hanachozu (flower-filled water basins) are decorated with pink, white, yellow, and other flowers, creating a festive scene.

■Nupuka no Sato @nupukanosato
Located within Daisetsuzan National Park at an elevation of 600 meters, Nupuka no Sato offers sweeping views of Tokachi.
With cottages and camping areas, it’s a place for outdoor experiences. At night you may be treated to a beautiful moon and starry sky.
