Niikappu Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Jun. 9, 2023
It is a chamber of commerce in Hokkaido Niikappu, a city of "records", "music" and "racehorses". Niikappu is a town with a population of about 5,000 facing the Pacific Ocean in the central part of Hokkaido. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the vast nature that spreads all over the four seasons. The Chamber of Commerce Niikappu is working to enliven the Niikappu known as the Record, Thoroughbred Town, and for the development of the town. In COOL JAPAN VIDEOS, we will introduce the activities of our Niikappu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the appeal of Niikappu. First of all, I would like to introduce the popular winter events of Niikappu. Every December, the Youth Division of the Niikappu Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds the Niikappu Illumination Festa. Around the roadside station "Thoroughbred Road Shinkaku", 26,000 light bulbs such as an illuminated tunnel and a 5-meter-high Christmas tree are displayed, making it an event that is appreciated by many townspeople as a winter tradition. Due to Coronavirus pandemic, the event was held by live streaming in 2020 and 2021, but last year in 2022, it was held normally for the first time in three years. A popular event in spring is the carp streamers swimming gracefully in the Niikappu sky! Every year before Children's Day on May 5, about 60 carp streamers donated to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry are installed along the road of "Children's Garden de Re Mi" in Niikappu. Bright cute carp streamers handmade by the Women's Division of the Niikappu Chamber of Commerce and Industry with patterns and colors painted by kindergarten children also swim in the Niikappu breeze. The event venue is full of smiles from children. In addition, in 2021, the work experience project "Niikappu Mirai Quest" was held, where second-year junior high school students in the Niikappu were taught the content, appeal, and motivation of their work, and they actually experienced work. We will continue to send out information on Niikappu events, the activities of the Niikappu Chamber of Commerce, and attractive new tourist spots, so thank you!

Like I mentioned yesterday, I went to "Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba" over the weekend and there were a ton of restaurants. The one that I chose to eat at was a tough choice, but I ultimately settled on "Do Miso Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba" ど・みそ 東京ポートシティ竹芝店, but there was also an Okinawan-themed restaurant right next to it called "Okinawa Bar Kafu" 沖縄酒場 かふー that looked really nice as well, and smelled good. Either way from across the isle I got to eat some delicious ramen while listening to the Okinawan music which was really relaxing and created a nice atmosphere. I'm not sure what the ramen I got was called it was just the normal miso ramen from my understanding and I believe it cost ¥1100. There's another one that looks similar, has a similar name, and costs ¥1200 but that's a white miso ramen and not the one that I got. Either way, I'm sure it tastes good as well, because my ramen tasted great! I really liked that the restaurant had metal cups as well, it gives the water a different flavor and always makes it feel more refreshing too in my opinion at least. One thing I forgot to mention about the building if you open up their website, another futuristic feature you'll find is that the building actually shows the number of people in the building at any one time and also shows that percentage of male and female visitors. I thought this was really amazing. I'm not sure how it's done, but they must have censors located at the doors or in other places around the building that can analyze body structure or something similar. Either way it's a cool place!
