「Gorgeous Nijo Castle Gate」 Location: Nijo Castle, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto * * * ~Gorgeous Nijo Castle Gate~ Nijo Castle was built in 1603 by Ieyasu Tokugawa to protect the Kyoto Imperial Palace where the emperor lives and to serve as a lodging place for the shogun. It is a valuable historical heritage site registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. 「Fushimi-Inari Taisha」 location: 京都市伏見区・伏見稲荷大社 * * * ~The head shrine of Inari Shrine~ Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of more than 30,000 shrines in Japan dedicated to Inari. Fushimi Inari Taisha is known for many torii gates. The name "Senbon Torii" does not mean that there are 1,000 torii gates. There are about 10,000 torii gates on the grounds of the shrine. The torii gates were all offered by worshipers at the shrine. The Senbon Torii is often featured on the cover of travel guidebooks.
