Wow this is really incredible! What an amazing entrance to a temple. It's an unusual design for a torii (at least from the ones I've seen) but it really fits the image. I love the lanterns on both sides as well. They really compliment the white and pink of the cherry blossoms with their glow. It's kind of crazy how much awesome stuff I keep seeing in Nagano prefecture. I've seen tons of cool places in Akita, Saitama, Hokkaido, etc. but I still haven't gotten a chance to check out Nagano and every time I see something amazing like this I just feel like I'm missing out. It looks like this is called Iinuma Shrine although it's hard to find information about it. Looks like a cool place to visit though, I'll have to do some more digging on this!

Man this is really beautiful. I never knew peach trees were this beautiful. I knew about plum trees and cherry trees of course, but these are really beautiful as well. It's so cool how the different colors and shades mix together in such a perfect way too. I wonder if they were planted to turn out like this or they just grew to be this way naturally. The river nearby is really amazing as well. It'd be a nice place to just sit and have a small picnic. I'm definitely jealous of anyone that gets to live near this area? I'd love to be able to wake up every morning during spring and see such an amazing view outside my window. I'll be going to see some cherry blossoms this weekend though so I can't complain too much!

This is really cool, I love how you can see like 3 different landscapes in this photo. Cherry blossoms in spring, the Northern Alps still in winter, and in the middle it looks like a sort of dry landscape you'd see during the summer. I've read about the Hakuba Ski Resort but it looks like there's some beautiful scenery here in the spring as well. Then again, it is Nagano so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised lol. I'd personally like to go down and visit the town and see what they've got. I've been to a few small towns at the bases of ski resorts and mountains before and they're always really nice and have a really different feel from any other town. There's usually at least one really good restaurant to eat at as well. Something to look forward to in Nagano I suppose!

It is a single cherry tree of Nodaira in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture.
The remaining snow in the Northern Alps was very magnificent.

What a cool photo. I keep seeing pictures and stuff of Takachiho Gorge and I really want to go. I watched a video of it on here recently and it was really beautiful. Miyazaki seems like a really fun place to visit in general so it'd fun to get out there and try the boats and see all of the natural scenery. It had some really nice looking shrines that I was interested in visiting as well. It's so hard to visit all of the beautiful places scattered throughout Japan but I've got time so I'm gonna do my best lol. Earned some flight miles this year so I'm definitely heading out somewhere this summer. Maybe it'll be Miyazaki, we'll see. Although I've had my eye on Nagano lately as well so it's a toss up for now.

From Kurumayama to Washigamine, the Kirigamine Plateau continues with gentle undulations. Seasonal alpine plants such as Astragalus azalea, Nikko kisuge, and Matsumushiso dye the green meadow in various colors. Mt. Fuji, the Alps, the Yatsugatake mountain range, and other famous peaks that Japan are proud of are also overlooked. Kirigamine Plateau is also known as the birthplace of Japan gliders because of its abundant updrafts in the area, making it suitable for glider flight. Cited from Kirigamine Kogen tourism website.

In the 69th order of the Nakasendō, the pure Nakasendō 67-juku (from Itabashi to Moriyama), which surpasses Kusatsu and Otsu-juku shared with the Tokaido, Narai-juku is the 34th post town in the middle of the Nakasendō, counting from Itabashi-juku on the Edo side and Moriyama-juku on the Kyoto side. The post town that prospered with many travelers at the highest altitude of the 11 Kiso inns, ahead of the difficult Torii Pass, was called "Narai Senken". The townscape has been selected as a national important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings, and retains a strong trace of the past.
