Hokuryu, Hokkaido, lies about a two-hour drive from Sapporo and is a small town of roughly 1,600 people. Hokuryu is nationally famous for its sunflower fields, and it ranked first nationwide in the 2022 list of “Sunflower Fields You Want to Visit in Summer 2022.” Hokuryu Sunflower Village is one of Japan’s largest sunflower fields, with about two million sunflowers blooming across land roughly the size of five Tokyo Domes.
