Bibai Tourism and Products Association
May. 21, 2023
Bibai Tourism and Products Association. "Bibai City, Hokkaido" is visited by many tourists for its abundant nature, mild climate, and delicious food. From now on, I would like to introduce the charm of Bibai City in COOL JAPAN VIDEOS! First of all, Bibai City is read as "Bibaishi" and is located between Sapporo City and Asahikawa City, and is located within about one hour from both cities. Bibai City is served by National Route 12 connecting Sapporo and Asahikawa, and the section from Bibai City to Takikawa City is a straight road that continues all the way, and there is a road that boasts the longest straight-line distance in Japan. As for the weather and climate of Bibai City, a refreshing breeze blows through in spring, a cool climate continues in summer, and beautiful snowscapes spread out in winter. You can enjoy the atmosphere of the four seasons, and the beauty of each season brings new discoveries every time you visit. Introducing popular tourist spots in Bibai City! First of all, Miyajima Swamp is one of the world's leading spots where you can see migratory birds such as geese and swans. It is located about 30 minutes by bus from JR Bibai Station, and every year about 70,000 birds come from Russia far north of Hokkaido in spring and autumn. Especially in the early morning and evening, when you can see the herd, the sight of the sky and swamps filled in black is a masterpiece. In addition, the "Coal Mine Memorial Forest Park" is a tourist attraction not to be missed. Bibai City once flourished from coal mining. In this park, which was built on the site of the former coal mine, you can see a tower that transports coal from deep underground, and a raw coal pocket for storing coal. As a valuable tourist spot where the memories of the coal miners of the past coexist with the nature of the present, it was 2007 Heisei 19 selected as an "Industrial Heritage of Modernization". Next is "KAN YASUDA SCULPTURE MUSEUM ARTE PIAZZA BIBAI". The works of world-renowned sculptor Kan Yasuda are exhibited here. His works blend in with the surrounding landscape, as if they were one with nature, providing peace and emotion to visitors. At Tomei Park, a vast park located in a hilly area, 2,000 cherry trees bloom during the cherry blossom season, and the "Bibai Cherry Blossom Festival" is held, and it is a popular tourist spot where you can enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms at night. And at the "Bibai City Experience Exchange Center", even first-time visitors can easily experience pottery such as pottery and painting, and can be enjoyed by both children and adults. The last thing I would like to introduce is "Sorachi Shrine". This shrine is watched over by an old tree that is over 900 years old, and you can experience "making bangle protection" from natural stone. On your trip to Bibai City, please enjoy delicious meals. In particular, Bibai City's "Bibai Yakitori" is a local gourmet that you can't miss. It is one of the seven major yakitori in Japan, and is made by skewering chicken, chicken liver, inner eggs, gizzards, and onions. As a local soul food, it is a popular gourmet for a wide range of generations from children to adults. Please try it when you come to Bibai. And "Torimeshi" It is a local dish that has been passed down for more than 100 years, and because rice, stir-fried meat, and motsu are cooked with soy sauce, sugar, and sake, and almost no other ingredients or seasonings are used, the aroma and taste have a strong chicken flavor, and it has a taste different from other mixed rice. We look forward to welcoming you with rich natural scenery, sightseeing spots where you can feel history and culture, delicious food, and warm hospitality! Stay tuned for future posts!

Hamanaka Town Tourism Association
May. 21, 2023
Nice to meet you all! Hamanaka Town is the Tourism Association! Since this is my first post, I would like to introduce myself to the Hamanaka Town. Hamanaka Town is a small town with a population of 5300 in the Akkeshi of Hokkaido. Hokkaido Hamanaka Town is a place full of charm where nature, climate, culture, food, and the warmth of the people envelop all visitors. The average annual temperature in Hamanaka Town is 5.5°C, making it one of the coldest regions in Japan. The cold wind carried by the cold current brings the unique climate and weather of the four seasons of Hamanaka Town. Designated as the sixth quasi-national park in Hokkaido in March 2021, Akkeshi Kiritappu Kombumori Quasi-National Park has two large wetlands, Bekanbeushi Wetland and Kiritappu Wetland. Although Kiritappu Wetland is a low-lying area of less than 3 meters above sea level, it is a valuable tourist spot where you can see alpine plants due to the wetland environment, and many people visit it. We hope you will enjoy the magnificent scenery in each season, such as the snowy scenery created by the harsh cold of winter and the about 300 kinds of flowers that bloom from spring to autumn! Hamanaka Town is the birthplace of Monkey Punch, the original author of "Lupin the Third," and has been revitalizing the town featuring "Lupin the Third" for more than 10 years. Lupin III wrapping buses, wrapping trains, and wrapping hire cars run throughout the city, signs of Lupin and Inspector Zenigata are installed at the station, and Monkey Punch's work room is reproduced in the Monkey Punch Collection at the Hamanaka Town Cultural Center, and there are many exhibits where you can fully experience the world of Lupin the Third. At "Kiritappu Onsen Yuyu", there is also a sale of original goods of Lupin the Third that can only be obtained here, so it is recommended as a souvenir. Surrounded by nature Hamanaka Town there are many popular scenic sightseeing spots. "Biwase Observatory" is a spot where you can overlook the rich nature of the Hamanaka Town and has a breathtaking view. Cape Azeti is located at the western end of the Kiritappu Peninsula and gives you a sense of the grandeur of nature. Cape Kiritappu is located in the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean. Wild sea otters live in the surrounding area, and if you're lucky, you can even see them from the promenade leading to the tip of the cape. In addition, there are campsites and relaxation places, and camping with a superb view overlooking the magnificent sea is popular. When you visit Hamanaka Town, enjoy fresh seafood and popular gourmet food. Kelp, salmon trout and autumn salmon, Toxilazu, saury, hairy crab, Hanasaki crab, Hokkai striped shrimp, hokki shellfish, clams, natural oysters, octopus, etc. are specialties, and fresh seafood that can only be tasted in Hamanaka Town will make tourists' tongues growl! Hamanaka Town milk is produced in a high-standard environment and is also used as a raw material for the world-famous ice cream brand "Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream". The umami that spreads in your mouth is unforgettable once you taste it. You can experience the charm of Hamanaka Town to the fullest through the events and festival held throughout the year. The "Hamanaka Cherry Blossom Festival" held in late May is a popular event held at Hamanaka Cherry Blossom Park, a cherry blossom viewing spot in the town. At the Cape Kiritappu Festival held in mid-September, you can visit Cape Kiritappu Lighthouse and taste seasonal seafood at the food stall village. Hokkaido AkkeshiHamanaka Town is a moving experience that visitors will never forget, with its natural scenery as far as the eye can see, delicious local cuisine, and the warmth of the local residents. We will continue to send out attractive information on Hamanaka Town, so thank you! !!

This is the Tokachigawa Onsen Tourist Association in Otofuke, Hokkaido. Otofuke is pronounced "Otofuke-chō". We plan to share captivating information about hot springs, sightseeing spots, superb local cuisine, access, and weather through Cool Japan videos! Please spend a dreamlike time in Otofuke’s Tokachigawa Onsen, where spectacular natural scenery and blissful hot springs soothe the body and mind. First, an introduction to the hot springs that heal both body and spirit. Tokachigawa Onsen features a rare spring quality and was designated a Hokkaido Heritage site in 2004, ahead of many other hot spring areas in Hokkaido. Tokachigawa Onsen is famous in Japan as a rare moor hot spring. The term "moor" comes from the German word for lignite and refers to springs that flow through lignite layers containing ancient plant-based organic matter; the water has an amber color and a slightly viscous texture. The hotels and ryokan lining the hot spring town offer carefully designed open-air and indoor baths, letting you fully enjoy the beautifying waters, and some facilities also offer day-use hot springs. Otofuke’s sightseeing spots brim with charm that makes you lose track of time. Roadside Station Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen is a treasure trove with a market showcasing local fresh ingredients and specialties, a spa where you can enjoy the Hokkaido Heritage moor hot spring in swimwear, hands-on craft workshops, and four restaurants. At Tokachi Ranch, which spans vast grounds, a viewing platform offers 360-degree views of Tokachi’s grand landscape. From mid-January to the end of February, snow exercise for horse health care is open to the public. At Ryugetsu Sweetpia Garden, you can glimpse the production process of a popular confectionery maker and try your hand at making sweets. Tokachigaoka Park is perfect for families, centered on the large flower clock "Hanakku" with an 18-meter diameter and a 10.10-meter second hand, surrounded by seasonal blooms. Tokachigawa Onsen in Otofuke hosts many attractive events. In early summer, the Moor Hot Spring Firefly Viewing enchants visitors with fireflies lighting up the night at Tokachigawa Onsen. Many tourists come to see the fluttering fireflies, enjoying a special time that feels in harmony with nature. The winter event Sairinka creates a fantastical space of synchronized sound and light with about 600 illuminated objects, including a 5.4-meter symbol tower. Otofuke’s Tokachigawa Onsen holds various appealing events throughout the year, including those mentioned above. Along with the hot springs, sights, and delicious food, we hope you enjoy seasonal events as well. Access to Tokachigawa Onsen in Otofuke, Hokkaido: about 2 hours by car from New Chitose Airport, about 3 hours by train from JR Sapporo Station, and about 20 minutes by car or taxi from Obihiro Station. Yubari Tourism Association
Apr. 18, 2023
Yubari City, Hokkaido is located in the central Hokkaido region of central Hokkaido and is a city with many attractive sightseeing spots interwoven with nature and history. When many people hear the name "Yubari City", the words "Yubari Melon" and "Financially Bankrupt City" may come to mind. Yubari City also once prospered due to the coal industry, one of the main industries of the Japan. However, as time changed and the demand for coal decreased, Yubari City was affected by it, and by 1990, all the coal mines were closed and the city was in a difficult situation. After that, it experienced financial collapse in 2007, but now measures are being taken to revitalize the city. Yubari City has such a history, but it is about 60 minutes from New Chitose Airport, the northern gateway, and about 90 minutes from Sapporo, making it a popular tourist destination. At the Yubari City Coal Museum, you can learn about the history of the coal industry in Yubari City and learn about the development of Yubari City. Dynamic exhibitions that utilize actual coal mining sites as tourism resources are popular and have become a place visited by many tourists. Yubari City is rich in nature as well as from the summit of Mt. Yubari at an altitude of 1,668 meters, and a 360-degree panoramic view spreads out, and you can see the beautiful scenery of the four seasons. In addition, with the completion of the Yubari Shuparo Dam in 2015, you can enjoy aquatic activities such as canoeing at Lake Shuparo, which has become the fourth largest water reservoir in the Japan. At the waterfall top park, colorful flowers and trees grow over, and you can feel the four seasons of Yubari City closely. The "Chidoriga Falls" in the park is a superb view of countless large and small waterfalls and strangely shaped rocks. If you come to Yubari City for sightseeing, please enjoy gourmet food and masterpieces. Speaking of Yubari City, Yubari Melon! Why not taste the sweet and juicy Yubari melon in summer? Yubari potatoes and canned beans are also popular gourmets. The population was 116,000 in 1960, when coal mining flourished, but today it is less than 7,000. Yubari City is sometimes compared to a ghost town, but if you actually visit, you can learn about the history of Japan industry and enjoy nature and gourmet food. After about 16 years since 2007, Yubari City has reached the goal of paying off its debt in four years. In order for citizens and tourists to come back to Yubari City after paying off their debts, we would like to introduce the attractions such as sightseeing spots and history of Yubari City in the Cool Japan Video!

Ashoro Tourism Association
Feb. 22, 2023
What kind of place is Ashorocho? Welcome, viewers of Cool Japan Video—let us introduce you in depth to Ashorocho’s charms and sightseeing spots! Ashorocho sits in the northeastern part of Tokachi and is the largest municipality in Japan by area. Forestry and agriculture thrive here, and about 80% of the town’s land is forest. The population is around 6,500. Within the town you mainly travel by car, and driving access from major cities in Hokkaido is as follows. • About 1 hour by car from Obihiro • About 1.5 hours by car from Kushiro • About 1.5 hours by car from Kitami • About 3.5 hours by car from Sapporo • About 3.5 hours by car from Asahikawa One popular sightseeing spot in Ashorocho’s center is Ashoro Ginga Hall 21. Originally built as Ashoro Station on the Hokkaido Chihoku Kogen Railway’s Furusato Ginga Line, it was registered as a Roadside Station in 2004. After the Furusato Ginga Line was closed in 2006, the facility was renewed and reopened in 2011 to become what you see today. Inside the facility, the former platform has been preserved to recreate tracks and trains that were used for 95 years. Ashorocho is also the hometown of singer-songwriter Chiharu Matsuyama, and the facility’s Chiharu Matsuyama Gallery displays his beloved guitar and stage costumes. For those who want to enjoy Ashorocho’s vast natural scenery, we recommend Onneto. Onneto is a 2.5 km-circumference lake west of Akan-Mashu National Park, formed about 2,000 years ago by an eruption of MtMeakan. Because the lake’s colors change with the season, weather, and viewing location, it is also called the Goshikinuma Ponds or the Mystic Lake. ※It takes about 50 minutes by car from Ashoro town center. ※From December through April, the road to the lake is closed and vehicles cannot pass. For details, please see the Ashoro Tourism Association website. Finally, here is a popular event in Ashorocho. The Ashoro Furusato Bon Odori Ryogoku Fireworks Festival, held every August, is the town’s largest event, painting the night sky with some 8,000 fireworks (※in 2022 only the fireworks were launched). When touring Hokkaido, be sure to visit Ashorocho. This largest town in Japan, with untouched nature stretching as far as the eye can see, awaits you with the warmest hospitality.

It is a "city of flowers, tastes and history" in Akkeshi Town.

We in Akkeshi Town are located in the east of Hokkaido and are surrounded by Kushiro Town, Hamanaka Town, and Shibecha.

The climate is relatively low in Hokkaido, but the snow cover remains even in spring.

Akkeshi Town faces the Pacific Ocean, Akkeshi Bay, and Lake Akkeshi, so it boasts fresh seafood.
In particular, oysters are a popular gourmet in Akkeshi, and many people come to Akkeshi for oysters for sightseeing.
Once you taste Akkeshi's oysters, you will definitely be captivated.

In addition, scallops, clams, sanma, sea urchin, squid, bokki, crab, kelp... Popular seafood that cannot be described here is landed in Akkeshi.
Please visit Akkeshi Town once and enjoy the fresh seafood!

Along with these seafood, "Akkeshi whisky" is popular.
The cool climate of Akkeshi is suitable for maturing whisky.
Drink Akkeshi whiskey with oysters caught in Akkeshi! This is the perfect combination!

We will also introduce recommended spots in Akkeshi other than gourmet.
In Akkeshi Town, there are many popular sightseeing spots such as "Akkeshi Waterfowl Observation Museum", "Cape Aikan", "Primeval Hanazono Ayamegahara", "Roadside Station Akkeshi Gourmet Park", "Konohi Park", "Akkeshi Boyodai", and "Bekanbeushi Marshland".

In particular, Kushiro Town, "Akkeshi Kiritappu Kombumori Quasi-National Park", which straddles Akkeshi Town, Hamanaka Town, and Shibecha, is a recommended tourist spot, and this park was designated as a quasi-national park by 2021 Reiwa 3.
The entire park is almost untouched, and if you go down the river by canoe, you can meet wild Yezo sika deer and sea eagles.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature throughout the year because you can see the beautiful scenery of the four seasons.

We will continue to send out attractive information such as gourmet, nature, and sightseeing in Akkeshi Town, so don't miss it!

There is Jozankei Onsen in Jozankei, which is famous nationwide.
Jozankei Onsen is a hot spring resort with a history of more than 150 years since its opening, and is a popular tourist destination for overseas travelers, attracting 2.4 million visitors annually.

It is about 26 kilometers from downtown Sapporo, about 1 hour by car, and is convenient for transportation, and is surrounded by nature, so there are plenty of popular activity spots.

Jozankei Onsen has a very long history, and more than 150 years ago, in the 2nd year of Keio 1866, the Shugen monk "Bisen Jozan" met this area with the guidance of the Ainu people and pioneered it as a hot spring area, so it was named "Jozankei".
Since then, it has healed many people for many years and continues to this day.

The spring quality of Jozankei Onsen is a colorless and transparent sodium chloride spring called "hot water" as a hot spring with a high heat retention effect.
There are 56 springs, and they gush out abundantly from cracks in the bedrock on the riverbank.

In addition, in Jozankei, the "Kappa Legend" has been handed down for a long time, and you can see Kappa statues here and there in the hot spring town.
There are 21 statues in total, so it is recommended to take a walk in the hot spring town and look for the Kappa statue.

In the Jozankei area, there are more than 20 hotels and ryokans including this hotel.
There are also plenty of day-trip hot springs.

Introducing the photos posted on "Everyone's Post"! This is a pickup post of the inbound tourism information SNS "Cool Japan Video". Today, I would like to introduce Natsumi Miura's post "Otowa Bridge in Tsurui Village". The river drifting in the cold air in the middle of winter and the flock of Tancho cranes are impressive photos. Tsurui Village is a small village with about 2,500 inhabitants in eastern Hokkaido. It is surrounded by the Kushiro wetlands, the largest in the Japan, and dairy farming is the main industry. It is also known as the habitat of the national special natural monument "cranes". Tsurui Village has plenty of sightseeing spots where you can enjoy nature. The Sechigawa River, where the Otowa Bridge rests, does not freeze even in the middle of winter, so early morning is the perfect time to see cranes resting in the river. It is also popular as a photo spot. In addition, at Tsurumidai, which aims to protect the red-crowned cranes along Route 53, feeding is carried out only in winter. You can enjoy cranes watching from November to March. Horse trekking horseback riding is available at Tsurui Dosanko Ranch, a facility where you can interact with Hokkaido horses all year round. It is recommended not only for day trips, but also for long-term use because there are accommodations. At the farm restaurant "Hearton Tree", you can not only enjoy lunch using local products, but also experience cheese making and cooking classes. In addition to staying overnight, they also hold wedding parties and wedding photos. You can also enjoy hot springs at "Tsuruimura Shitsugen Onsen Hotel" and "Hotel Green Park Tsurui" that opened in November. ◆Tsurui Village◆ From Kushiro Station, take the Akan Bus Tsurui Line 【Access】 Kushiro Station ⇒ [Akan Bus] ⇒ Tsurui City Time required: about 70 minutes
