【Winter Road Closure Notice 2025.10.31】
The following roads in the Mashu Area will be closed for winter starting today, October 31, Reiwa Year 7.

・Prefectural Road 52 Kussharo Lake Shore Line (Third Observation Deck) from 15:00
・Prefectural Road 150 Mashu Lake Nakashibetsu Line (Uramashu Observation Deck) from 9:00
Access to Lake Mashu is possible from the Teshikaga Town side to Lake Mashu Kamuy Terrace (First Observation Deck) via Prefectural Road 52.

・Prefectural Road 588 Kussharo Tsubetsu Line (Tsubetsu Pass) from 10:00
The winter detour for Tsubetsu Pass will be Japan National Route 243 (Bihoro Pass).

・Prefectural Road 587 Atosato Koshimizu Line (from near the top of Mokoto Pass to Koshimizu Town, 9.8 km) from 10:00

Location: Michi-no-Eki Nishiokoppe Flower Park Kamu.

The flower park closes for winter, making the roadside station a bit quiet.

We planned this event to fill the windows with art and brighten the day of everyone who visits.

Everyone is welcome, both villagers and visitors, children and adults alike.

Participants will receive a Setoushi-kun baked treat and string cheese.

Capacity: 20 people. Spots are first come, first served, so please sign up early.

the shop hosts a farm-fresh vegetable stall. Local farmers bring freshly harvested, seasonal produce every morning.

Fire in the Snow
Late March during spring break.
Just when it seemed to be warming up, Nishiokoppe Village experienced unsettled weather, feeling a bit chilly with snow flurries in the sky.

Still, the children who gathered despite the cold
built bonfires and played in the snow, showing lively energy.

The children started the bonfires themselves.
They practiced using matches and thought about how to arrange the wood so it would catch fire easily.

Once the bonfire was burning well,
