Lets discover the feudal lord era of Toyama. Toyama Castle situated in the center of Toyama City. It was actually built in 1543 by the local feudal lord Sassa Narimasa. Unfortunately, the castle keep was dismantled during the Meiji Restoration. Over the years, the castle underwent several renovations and reconstructions, the latest in 1954. Today, the castle is a top tourist attraction, offering visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about Japan’s feudal history.

It is Toyama City in spring, surrounded by the mountains of the Alps. Embracing the snow, the towering Mt. Tsui was magnificent. The scars of the Noto Peninsula earthquake have not yet healed, but we pray for a speedy recovery.

It is a night cherry blossom illumination of Fugan Canal Water Park. Drawing on the nature of Toyama and the history of the Fuiwa Canal, this space is an oasis for looking at and creating the culture and future of the region. This time, I made a reservation half a year ago, so I was able to stay lodging in a 200-year-old gassho-zukuri minshuku, and thanks to that, I was able to fully enjoy the nostalgic original scenery of Japan. In addition to the illumination at night, the quiet early morning walk, which is only possible for those who stayed at the lodging, was exceptional.
