Rokkanon-Miike Pond is a cobalt-blue volcanic lake in Kirishima, said to be the most beautiful there. The trees reflected on the water looked like they were on fire, creating an indescribable beauty. In the third year of Tentoku, a monk named Seisho (Shoku) visited to train. While reciting the Lotus Sutra by the shore, a white-haired old man appeared and said, "I am Yamato Takeru, and I live on this mountain as a swan." Seisho carved six Kannon statues and built a shrine by the pond to enshrine them. When he turned around, there stood the white-haired old man…!!! Photographed in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture.

The autumn in Urabandai, Fukushima is amazing. I took this photo during a figgy day near lake Hibara. The small island inside the lake also full of autum colors which makes the frame more beautiful. Mist, autumn colors and lake, these are all what i can even imagined. It was so exciting and eye-shoothing. After thus trip I was really refreshed and energized again.

Summer Spirit Abduction This is a photo of a shrine in Shimosoga, Odawara. People say it feels like a scene from a Studio Ghibli film. It's best visited in summer.

Autumn leaves at Yujaku Park ❚ Foliage status as of November 12, 2025 Yujaku Park in Asaji Town, Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture This park is one of Oita Prefecture’s representative autumn foliage spots. Overall, about 30–40% of the leaves have changed color. The area around Shinji Pond is starting to turn first. Areas around Tanji Pond and places farther from the ponds are still mostly green, but the mix of green and red now creates a beautiful gradient of leaves. During the Yujaku Tourism Momiji Festival, local residents sell kusamochi (herb rice cakes) and other treats. If you see them, try one. We will update the foliage status as it changes. Please note that the Yujaku Park light-up follows a fixed schedule. Some paths are dark at night, so we recommend bringing a flashlight. On the 15th, Yujaku Night Kagura Suikyo will take place, and Yujaku Park Parking will be unavailable for certain hours. Autumn leaves at Hōshōji Temple ❚ Foliage status as of November 11, 2025 The autumn leaves at Hōshōji Temple in Kiyokawacho, Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture. About 70% of the trees have changed color, and it is at its peak viewing time. This spot is not widely known, so you can enjoy the foliage quietly during the day. The light-up runs until November 15. The illuminated leaves and their reflections are beautiful at night. Come to Hōshōji Temple to see the vivid autumn colors. We will provide updates on the foliage status as they become available. The Western-style building was built as a villa for the Ukon family. You can see it inside the Ukon House, the former residence of a Kitamae shipowner. The building has a modern feel, and the view is spectacular!

Daimon Kinoshita Exhibition in Teshikaga The Daimon Kinoshita Exhibition is now on display in the lobby of Teshikaga Town Public Hall. A miniature version of Setta no Surioto, which is exhibited at the Guimet Museum (Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet) in France, is being shown and unveiled in Teshikaga for the first time. (The original measures 3 m by 12 m.) Exhibition hours: 9:00–21:00 Period: Now through November 25, 2025 Please take this opportunity to come and see it.

The Wakasa Kuniyoshi Castle History Museum is hosting a Night Museum again this year! From Saturday, November 22 to Sunday, November 30, the museum will be open from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM with the autumn leaves illuminated. The nighttime view of the illuminated leaves from Kyū-Tanabe Handaifu-ke Zashiki is spectacular. A commemorative castle seal for the event will be sold during the period (300 yen). Please join us. It stayed warm for a while this year, so the colors were delayed, but they’re looking great now—please come see them!
