From yesterday (January 22), the secondary station name of Izukyu Shimoda Station has become Shimoda Underwater Aquarium Station (^○^) Izukyu Shimoda Station is the terminus. What image comes to mind when you think of a terminus? The train ends here, but the town and its stories spread out from this point— imagining it that way makes sightseeing in Shimoda even more exciting✨ From Izukyu Shimoda Station, it’s about an eight-minute bus ride or a twenty-minute walk to Shimoda Underwater Aquarium. Set in a rich natural environment, the aquarium floats on the sea using a natural cove, a feature unique to Shimoda. There are many attractive programs, including experiences where you can play with dolphins🐬 Start your Shimoda sightseeing from the terminus, Izukyu Shimoda, and enjoy a wonderful time♬ Izukyu Corporation https://www.izukyu.co.jp// Shimoda Underwater Aquarium https://shimoda-aquarium.com//

Imajō-juku is a post town that retains the atmosphere of the Edo period. Its stone-paved streets and rows of white-walled houses evoke history and offer a tranquil ambiance. It holds high cultural value and has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Hands-on tourism is plentiful, including soba noodle-making experiences and guided town walks. Nearby you will find a museum, cafés, and lodging in renovated traditional houses, where you can enjoy a graceful time steeped in history. If you are coming by car, the Hokuriku Expressway’s Nanjo Smart IC is about a five-minute drive away, making access from the highway extremely convenient. From Nagoya and Osaka it takes about two to three hours by car or train, making day trips ideal. You can also use the Hapiline Fukui Imadate Line stations Imadzo Station and Nanjo Station, which make rail travel from the Kansai and Chukyo areas comfortable and convenient. We also sell a one-way taxi ticket to the destination for 500 yen. At Roadside Station Minami-Echizen Sankairi and Hapiline Imajo Station you can rent electric bicycles, so a relaxed cycling tour around Minami-Echizen Town is a popular way to sightsee.

Atami Station, operated by JR East and opened in 1925 (Taishō 14), celebrated its 99th anniversary yesterday on Monday, March 25. On the previous day, Sunday, March 24, a high-grade train not normally in regular service—the E655 series “Nagomi” (all seats are Green Car specification)—made a round trip between Shinagawa Station and Atami Station, carrying 105 passengers to Atami. Tickets sold out within five minutes of sales opening, a phenomenal response. Many rail fans gathered and photographed the special train as it arrived on the platform. A welcome ceremony took place on the Atami Station platform, featuring a performance by the Atami High School Eisa Club and greetings from Mamekko, the official character of the Atami Geigi Okiya Union, and Atsuo, the official character of the Atami Onsen Hotel and Ryokan Cooperative.
