Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu
Aug. 11, 2023
Hello! This is Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu. This time, I would like to introduce the Sapporo streetcar. The Sapporo streetcar opened in 1918. The route trains that run through the center of Sapporo City are used by many people as a means of transportation for tourists and citizens. From the window of the leisurely streetcar, you can see the daily life of Sapporo citizens, which is a little different from sightseeing spots! In winter, you can see the "Sapporo White Illumination" from the inside of the car. The streetcar takes 55 minutes per lap, and you can get a great deal by using a one-day pass or a Dosanko Pass limited to weekends and holidays. You can also use transportation IC cards such as Suica, Kitaca, and PASMO! For a low price of 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for children, you can visit various sightseeing spots such as Mt. Moiwa, a scenic spot.

開智国際日本語学校(Kaichi International School of Japanese)

For a field trip, we visited the newly opened “Kan Clean Center” in Hachioji last year. It’s a 15-minute bus ride from Takao Station and set in a lush, green area. The facility is very clean and spacious, using the latest systems to process waste. Facility information is available in multiple languages, making it easy for non-Japanese speakers to understand. Visitors can watch trucks enter the site and see how waste is collected up close. With activities like sorting quizzes, the students were able to learn while having a lot of fun.

[English/Japanese] In front of Nishi Hachioji Station stands Kinuta Dental Clinic, a place many people living in the Tokyo metropolitan area know well. A large karakuri clock greets visitors at the clinic entrance; it has become a symbol of Nishi Hachioji. Every hour, the clock delights onlookers with an inventive mechanism and a story about teeth. Some of our students are currently receiving dental treatment. International students are said to be more prone to tooth decay because of changes in eating habits and stress. Our school offers health counseling so students can enjoy a healthy life while studying abroad.
