Racing Down on Cardboard Sleds Tuesday, February 11 As an event to celebrate 30 years with zero traffic-fatality accidents, a cardboard sled race was held. There were individual and team categories, and cardboard sleds that must have been crafted with great care sped down the ski slope! Even though they were all made from the same material—cardboard—each sled had its own personality. I joined the team category and built a sled one week before the race. When I added nylon to the parts that touch the snow, it slid with surprising speed. The sled bounced over small bumps, making for a very thrilling ride. Including the time spent building the sled, it was a fun event! The sled that won the team category is on display at the ski area. I visited Saijo Shibetsu store! Saijo Shibetsu store is holding a birthday festival to celebrate its 28th anniversary! For two days during the festival, wooden toys from Nishiokoppe Village were placed in a special area on the first floor. From the Komu Museum of Art we brought a wooden sandbox filled with hundreds of wooden balls, wooden puzzles, toy cars, and a Miracle Korokoro Tower where marbles roll for fun. A castanet-making workshop was also held in one corner of the venue! We spent two soothing days listening to the happy voices of visiting children and the warm sounds of the wooden balls. Next to the Nishiokoppe Village booth was a croquette vendor from Bifuka. Both the potato and pumpkin croquettes were delicious! They were wonderfully crispy. And Setoushi-kun collaborated with Bifuka-kun and Bifuka-chan! Some children looked puzzled when the mascots appeared, but it was heartening to see those who were delighted. Taiki Town on February 6th The heavy snowfall that fell between February 4th and 5th was followed the next day by clear Tokachi skies, so I went for a drive around town. The familiar scenery had turned into a beautiful snowy landscape!

A four-minute walk from Tomakomai Station, Fashion Mail Plaza is displaying around 1,000 hina dolls this year as well🎎 Alongside traditional tiered hina displays, you can see creative dolls reflecting current events, making the exhibit well worth a visit✨ The exhibition is scheduled to remain on display until March 10, so please stop by.

As some of you may know from newspapers and news reports, Onneto "Yama no Yado Nonaka Onsen," which suffered a fire last month, is currently closed entirely. A rope blocks the entrance to the grounds and a "No Entry" sign is posted. However, trespassing has continued, and some people have come asking, "Is the hot spring open?", while others have committed malicious acts such as entering the baths without permission. Nonaka Onsen is not operating at this time. False information appears to be circulating on social media, so please refrain from visiting out of curiosity. There is currently no timetable for reconstruction; we will announce the reopening when it is decided. Thank you for your understanding.

　In Moseushi Town, from mid-December to the end of March every year, about 13,000 LED illuminations are installed on a birch tree with a height of about 20 meters that grows on the site of the volleyball club training camp of the former Moseushi Commercial High School, and you can enjoy the fantastic scenery. Enjoy the white and blue illuminations reflected on the snow surface!
