The Japanese antelope is a herbivorous mammal endemic to Japan that lives in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, excluding Hokkaido and the Chugoku region. The scientific name is Capricornis crispus, which belongs to the subfamily Goats of the artiodactyl bovine family. Due to overfishing, the number has decreased, and it was designated as a special natural monument of Japan in Showa 30. From the summer of 2022 to the fall of 2023, I went to Okutama about four times, and I was able to meet two of them, so I think there is a good chance that we will meet.
