Racing Down on Cardboard Sleds Tuesday, February 11 As an event to celebrate 30 years with zero traffic-fatality accidents, a cardboard sled race was held. There were individual and team categories, and cardboard sleds that must have been crafted with great care sped down the ski slope! Even though they were all made from the same material—cardboard—each sled had its own personality. I joined the team category and built a sled one week before the race. When I added nylon to the parts that touch the snow, it slid with surprising speed. The sled bounced over small bumps, making for a very thrilling ride. Including the time spent building the sled, it was a fun event! The sled that won the team category is on display at the ski area.
