In Hinomotoichi's Calligraphy Trial Plan, students do not pick up a brush and start writing immediately after the lesson begins. Instead, we begin by explaining about the culture of calligraphy and the history of calligraphy in Japan. This is because it helps them to better understand the difference between Japanese calligraphy and caligraphy, which is a form of character decoration that also exists in other countries, and to appreciate the beauty of the Japanese language. #calligraphy #kanji #shodo

[February Pop-up by Yukimichi Bookshop] Wednesday, February 12 With Valentine’s Day nearing, the books on display that day were chosen around the theme of "love." A plush "t" hanging in the room was irresistibly cute. If you look closely, there was also something black hiding behind the books 🐕 Next to the room of books sat perfectly round chocolate treats. While nibbling the sweets, visitors could try making bookmarks from scraps of deerskin. We stamped letters with a wooden mallet to emboss names or favorite words into the deerskin. Paired with colored cords (also deerskin!), the result was absolutely lovely. I only snapped a few photos and left early that day, so I want to take my time browsing the books next month… The location is unchanged The venue is Pom, between the village office and Kikuchi Store. Feel free to drop by. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Yukimichi Bookshop #Shimokawa Town #Bookstore #Pop-up #Pom #February 12 #Record

🌺 The 10th Nobeoka Flower Story 🌺 [Period] Saturday, February 1, 2025 – Sunday, April 6, 2025 The annual spring event “Nobeoka Flower Story” runs from Saturday, February 1 to Sunday, April 6, 2025! This event succeeds the former Tenkaichi Himuka Cherry and Rapeseed Blossom Festival. It was renamed “Nobeoka Flower Story” in 2014 and, though some years were canceled due to the coronavirus, we are grateful to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Local residents who wanted to beautify the Gokase River embankment, the event site, began planting Kawazu cherry trees and rapeseed flowers. Their efforts have created a spectacular display of blooms for everyone to enjoy. After a gourmet TV show featured the Kawazu cherry trees at the venue last year, we received many inquiries asking where that magical spot in Nobeoka City is located. [Main Events] 🌿 Hontoji Ei Nichiume (Eini-ume) The weeping plum known as “Eini-ume,” with a trunk older than 240 years, blooms splendidly each year. Fifty white plum trees and five red plum trees color the temple grounds this season.🌺 As of February 20, 2025, they are in full bloom and at their best! 🌸 Konohana Walk 📅 Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23 Three hundred Tenkaichi Himuka cherry trees along the Gokase River embankment and one million rapeseed flowers will spread a carpet of spring color.✨ A special stage will showcase local performing arts and song acts, and the riverbed will host the Nobeoka Delicious Food Market.🌿 Local seafood and mountain produce from Nobeoka City will be on offer, and proud specialty vendors from Kumamoto and Oita prefectures will also attend. The popular annual Mini Sasuke Course Challenge will feature Sasuke Legend led by Makoto Nagano, a native of Nobeoka City. We will give a case of flowers used for the “flower lettering” to the first 200 visitors as a gift.🎁 There will also be seed-dumpling giveaways that kids and adults can enjoy! 💡 WaiWai Flower Story 2025 📅 Thursday, March 20 (national holiday) – Sunday, April 6 At Nobeoka Castle Hill and Shiroyama Park, enjoy Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms and one of Japan’s three great wild camellia groves. Highlights include the WaiWai Gourmet Expo on Saturday, March 22, and the enchanting WaiWai Hanayoi Story, which features beautiful illuminated cherry blossoms—this series of events brings the Nobeoka Flower Story to a close. Enjoy the magical atmosphere created by the night-lit cherry blossoms and the stone walls of Nobeoka Castle.✨ 📍 For bloom updates and event details, please see the “Nobeoka Flower Story 2025 Official Website.” *Images are from last year.* Inquiries ▷▶ 0982-29-2155 (Nobeoka Flower Story Executive Committee)

Stepping Hotbed Making & Seeding Workshop (Sustaina UBU) I participated in an Events of farmers in the Village held on February 17, 2025. We collected a large amount of fallen leaves, and as the name suggests, we stepped on the fallen leaves to create a nursery to grow young seedlings, and sowed square beans and several types of okra. A hotbed of trampling? What is it? It's an unfamiliar word, isn't it? This is an old-fashioned agricultural technique that is said to have been adopted in the Taisho period. Use fermented fallen leaves as "mulch" and "potting soil" without using electricity. Use the "fermentation heat" when fallen leaves ferment, and Use the heat generated when bacteria and bacteria decompose organic matter. Since summer vegetables require a high temperature of about 20~30°C for germination and growth, we Use a hotbed to start growing seedlings in the cold winter months. Events to create a stepping hotbed where you can slowly exercise your legs and hips while feeling the warmth of the bacteria in the field, and to touch the seeds Location: Ubuyama no Kaze (field) What you need to prepare Clothes that can get dirty, gloves and boots 8:30 Open Farm 9:00~ Start hotbed and explanation of species 9:30~ Start of hotbed and seed collection 12:00~Poyo farmer's lunch at Ubufu Kitchen 13:00~Open Farm (We will proceed with the work of creating a hotbed) Participation fee: 2,500 yen (including lunch). Free for children. This time, it was like this. Why don't you learn the old-fashioned farming method of using what is as close to you as possible based on the Nature cycle in the Workshop that is regularly Held in, and grow delicious vegetables while inheriting the wisdom of our ancestors? If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the following address Ubuyama Mirai Lab (Ubuyama Village Tourism Association) 〒869-2703 468-4 Yamaga, Ubuyama Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture 0967-25-2200 info@ubu-lab.com
