In October, Professor Emeritus Tomoko Yoshikawa, Faculty of Agriculture, Tamagawa University, will give a lecture entitled "Creatures of Volcanic Lakes: The Gari of the Ecology of Lake Kussharo," and in December, we will invite Dr. Mitsuhiro Nakagawa, a research fellow and specially appointed professor at Hokkaido University, to give a lecture titled "Why Lake Kussharo is Shallow: The Secrets of the Atosanupuri Volcano Revealed by the Latest Research." The area where we live is centered on the Kussharo Caldera, which was formed by a large volcanic activity. Lake Kussharo, a large Caldera lake No.1 in Japan, is a symbol of Akan Mashu National Park, and has nurtured a variety of living things along with the bounty of volcanoes. In order to take a fresh look at this special lake and share its charm and origins, we have planned two lectures this time. First, Gari will explain the connection between the lake and living creatures, and then the secrets of volcanoes revealed by the latest research, each expert will gently unravel. We hope that by experiencing the magnificent Nature story behind Lake Kussharo, which you have become familiar with as a familiar landscape, you will have the opportunity to learn more about this lake and park and feel proud of it. Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Autumn Kiln Tour — Featured Kiln / 04 Unshū Kiln The 36th Amakusa West Coast Autumn Kiln Tour will take place over five days from Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13 (public holiday), with six kilns in Reihoku and Amakusa City serving as venues. During the event you can enjoy new works on display and for sale, plus special discounted sales. Take this chance to visit and enjoy Amakusa ceramics and the Amakusa West Coast scenery 🌊🌅. (Note: Tenjiku Pottery Kiln will not participate.) 🍁🍁🍁 Featured Kilns / Unshū Kiln sits in a small seaside settlement where you can hear the surf, roughly halfway along the road that leads to the Tomioka Peninsula in Reihoku. One late-summer day I visited the kiln owner, Ms. Miyoshi, a friendly person who always carries a light, cheerful air. For this Autumn Kiln Tour, alongside Unshū Kiln’s staple vessels, you will see works using the vivid red cinnabar (shinsa) pigment, a color believed since the Jomon Period to ward off evil. Also noteworthy are charming pieces inspired by Amakusa sea urchins. They appeared a few years ago and have returned for this Autumn Kiln Tour after a long absence. During the exhibition the kiln will sell succulents including cacti, and offer painting-on-ware experiences. Please drop by—unexpected encounters and discoveries await you. 📍Unshū Kiln 2829 Tomioka, Reihoku, Amakusa District, Kumamoto Prefecture 863-2507 TEL: 080-5254-7915 ________________ The 36th Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Autumn Kiln Tour Period: Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13 (public holiday) 8:30 AM–5:00 PM Venues Reihoku: Uchida Sarayama Pottery, Kobo Kaze, Mugen Kiln, Unshū Kiln (Note: Tenjiku Pottery Kiln will not participate) Amakusa City: Takahama Ware Juhogama, Amakusa Karatsu Goyama Kame Kiln (Juro Kiln) 🍁 Two stamp rallies run concurrently! • A digital stamp rally eligible for Kumamoto health points📱 • A prize-entry stamp rally to win products from your chosen kilns (entry forms available at each kiln📃) For inquiries: Amakusa Pottery Stone Research and Development Promotion Council Secretariat (Reihoku Town Hall, Commerce and Tourism Division) TEL: 0969-35-3332

Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Autumn Kiln Tour — Featured Kiln / 03 Mugen Kiln

The 36th Amakusa West Coast Autumn Kiln Tour will take place over five days from Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13 (national holiday), with six kilns across Reihoku and Amakusa City participating.
During the event you can view and buy new works and enjoy discounted sales, so please take this opportunity to visit and enjoy Amakusa ceramics and the Amakusa West Coast scenery 🌊🌅.
(Note: Tenjiku Pottery Kiln will not participate.)

🍁🍁🍁

Featured Kiln Introduction /

Tucked quietly in the satoyama of Reihoku, Mugen Kiln stands serene. From the pieces created by kiln owner Seiko Tanaka, you sense an unwavering dedication to beauty. When asked about that source, she showed us the neatly arranged collection of seashells.

As a child, during the Obon season she began collecting sakuragai and benigai shells found on the local shore during the spirit-floating ceremony, becoming captivated by the mysterious shapes and colors that nature creates. Tanaka’s remark — “Truly beautiful things in this world are those without calculation, like these” — left a strong impression. It seems the core of Mugen Kiln’s unique worldview breathes from that sentiment.

We hope you will pick up Tanaka’s carefully crafted ceramics and feel their charm firsthand.

Unpesticided vegetables and potted flowers will also be on sale during the period.

[The power of books, the power of life] Shanti International Volunteer Association Cooperation Project "The Power of Books for the Power of Life" Through books, from familiar places Let's look at the world. Based on such a concept With the cooperation of two people from Myanmar living in Nishiokoppe Village, we Implementation the creation of a Picture Book to be delivered to Myanmar. What kind of country is Myanmar? What kind of situation are we in now? At first, I learned about Myanmar. After that, we read Picture books in Japanese and Burmese. After enjoying the difference in pronunciation between Burmese and Japanese Finally, I will make a Picture book in translation. While looking at the comparison table of the Burmese language Cut and paste the text stickers translated into Burmese on all pages, and repeat. Finally, I was taught how to write my name in Burmese. If there are two people who can speak Burmese You can ask questions when you don't know which page to put the sticker on, and you can learn things that you can't know just by reading the documents, such as the stroke order of the letters. Thanks to the two of you, I learned more Burmese. I feel like I was able to feel close to them. The translated picture book I made on this day will arrive in Myanmar around next summer. I wonder what Myanmar will be like at that time. I wondered what I was doing at that time With this in mind, I entrusted the Picture book to the Shanti International Volunteer Association. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Shanti International Volunteer Association #Translated Picture book #Myanmar #Turning the power of books into the power of life #Burmese

I am a volunteer at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. I made friends through volunteering. On the 100th day of his visit, his friend decided to take a picture with the people he met through the Expo! The moon was very beautiful on such an anniversary, and it was one of the photos I took with the camera. The two of them illuminated by the moon with a large roof ring were even more wonderful, and I was happy to be able to take such a photo on a memorable day. I met many people through the Expo, and every time I went, I felt like I was traveling and had a good time. I am grateful for the wonderful encounter. Thank you for the expo (#^.^#)

【Koumi Line Activities Priority Car "Highland Cycling Tour"】 As part of the efforts of the Regional Revitalization Council along the Koumi Line, today and tomorrow, Sunday, September 28, Activities priority Car will operate on the Koumi Line. I participated in a monitor tour planned in conjunction with this, where I rode an e-bike from Nobeyama Station around the Nobeyama Highlands to Kiyosato Station. https://koumilinehighlandtrain.hp.peraichi.com// I didn't even know the difference between an electric bicycle and an e-bike, but I realized not only how cool it looks, but also how amazing the sturdy tires and suspension Pension are that you can go anywhere. I thought it was the perfect Car for the Nobeyama Highlands, which is not only paved roads. Also, it was the first time I brought my bicycle and boarding it, but it was surprisingly smooth and I felt something special. From now on, Nobeyama Highlands will be the best season for cycling. The Tourist Information Center in front of Nobeyama Station also rents out bicycles, so please Use them. * E-bikes are not available. ▼ Click here to make a reservation for a rental bicycle https://www.kanko-nobeyama.jp/info/?p=567/...
