~Introduction of Rishiri Fuji Town~

Rishiri Fuji is a town located in the Soya region of the northernmost part of Hokkaido, consisting of two areas, Oshidomari and Oniwaki, on the east side of Rishiri Island.

As of February 2023 (Reiwa 5), the town has a population of about 2,200 and is mainly based on the core industries of fisheries and tourism, and 2020 (Reiwa 2) (2020) marked the 140th anniversary of the opening of Rishiri Fuji Town.

Starting with Mt. Rishiri (elevation 1,721m), which has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, there are rare alpine plants and more than 320 species of wild birds that can be seen from 0m above sea level, as well as abundant marine products such as Rishiri kelp, sea urchin, scallops, abalone, and hokke, which are known as luxury products.
