【English／日本語】 I went to the rooster market in Hachioji with some of my students! There is an Otori Shrine about a 5-minute walk from Hachioji Station. I was impressed by the lucky and gorgeous decorations. Moreover, the sight of shopkeepers calling out good luck to customers who buy them was just like Japanese culture, and the students were very excited. On the way home, we bought a specialty of the rooster market, kirisansho (rice cakes covered with a spice called sansho). It was very delicious. There are two more rooster fairs to come. We hope you will visit the rooster market as well. 学生たちと一緒に八王子の酉の市に行きました！ 八王子駅から歩いて5分くらいに大鳥神社があります。 縁起の良い豪華な飾りに感動。 さらに、それを買うお客さんに対してお店の人が縁起の良い掛け声をかける姿は日本文化そのもので、学生たちも興奮していました。 帰りに酉の市の名物の切山椒（山椒というスパイスがまぶしてある餅）を買いました。 とてもおいしかったです。 酉の市はあと2回あります。 みなさんもぜひ訪れてみてください。

[Englsih／日本語] Cafe Kojika is a 10-minute walk from Hachioji Station. The interior of Cafe Kojika is decorated in the 1970s, so you can enjoy your meal in an old Japanese house. There are many international students who would like to do a homestay. [English／日本語] Takohachiya" is a grill shop. It is located alongside the Hachioji Central Library, about 6 minutes from the school. This time I ate not takoyaki but "takosen". Takosen" are takoyaki sandwiched between octopus crackers, and are famous as a snack for children in Osaka. There are many takoyaki shops in Tokyo, but this was the first time I saw takosen being sold. The fluffy takoyaki sandwiched between crispy rice crackers was very tasty 😊Bangladeshi students do not eat seafood such as octopus and squid. Please be careful when making recommendations to foreigners. 焼き屋「たこ八や」。 八王子中央図書館の並びで、学校からは6分くらいです。 今回食べたのはたこ焼きではなく「たこせん」です。 「たこせん」はたこのせんべいにたこ焼きを挟んだもので、大阪の子どものおやつとして有名です。 東京にもたくさんたこ焼き屋さんはありますが、たこせんが売られているのを見たのは初めてでした。 ぱりぱりのおせんべいにふわふわのたこ焼きが挟まれていて、とってもおいしかったです😊バングラデシュの学生はタコやイカなどの海鮮は食べないそうです。 外国人におすすめをする際には気を付けてくださいね。

The other day, I had Sri Lankan home cooking at "Milis," a Sri Lankan restaurant a 5-minute walk from Hachioji Station. It is a healthy dish that doesn't use oil, and it consists of rice topped with various curries and side dishes. It was a complex combination of "sweet", "spicy", "salty", "sour", and "bitter", which I had never tasted before, but it was very delicious. The other day, I had dal bhat at the Nepalese restaurant "Naoya", which is a five-minute walk from the school and is located alongside the Hachioji Central Library. "Daal" means bean soup and "bhaat" means rice, just like a set meal in Japan. Nepal is famous for its curry, but daalbhaat was not spicy at all, and had a gentle taste 😊I was glad to finally try this dish, which was introduced to me by a student a few years ago ✨I also tried Ras Malai (cottage cheese dumplings dipped in honey) for dessert for the first time, and was surprised at how sweet it was! 八王子市では世界の料理各国の料理を食べることができます。 先日、学校から歩いて5分、八王子中央図書館の並びにあるネパール料理「奈央屋」さんで、ダルバート（दालभात）を食べました。 ダルは豆のスープ、バートはご飯の意味で、日本の定食のようなものです。 カレーで有名なネパールですが、ダルバートはまったく辛くなくやさしい味でした😊数年前に学生から紹介された料理なので、やっと食べられてうれしかったです✨デザートにラスマライ（ रस मलाई カッテージチーズの団子を蜜につけたもの）も初めて食べましたが、甘すぎてびっくりしました（笑）

[English／日本語] May 5th is Children's Day. On Children's Day, people decorate the outside with fish (carp) called Koi Nobori. Koi Noboris" are decorations to wish for the growth of children and their success in life. The Asakawa River in Nishi-Hachioji is decorated with many Koi Noboris (carp streamers). The carp streamers flowing on the river are beautiful and very moving. It takes about 8 minutes on foot from Hachioji Station to this Otori Shrine, but there were many festival stalls (yatai) on the street and it was very lively. Our school allows students to participate in traditional events held in the city as an off-campus learning opportunity. 八王子にある大鳥神社で行われる酉の市の様子です。 毎年11月に行われます。 八王子駅からこの大鳥神社まで徒歩8分くらいですが、道にお祭りの屋台（やたい）がたくさんあり、とてもにぎやかでした。 本校では校外学習の場として市内で行われる伝統行事に参加させています。
