COOL JAPAN VIDEOS Photo Contest PR
Dec. 16, 2022
Introducing the photos posted on "Everyone's Post"! This is a pickup post of the inbound tourism information SNS "Cool Japan Video". Today, I would like to introduce "Atsushi Kaneko's post "Shooting from the ropeway of Kita Yatsugatake". The vast world of white silver is a superb view. Kitayatsugatake refers to the northern part of the Yatsugatake mountain range, which straddles Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures. The Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway, which spans between Mt. Kitayokodake and Mt. Stripe, is a large ropeway that seats 100 people and can be reached from the base station (elevation 1,771m) to the summit station (elevation 2,237m) in about 7 minutes. Mt. Kitayatsugatake is also recommended for beginner climbers. The Kitayatsugatake Ropeway can be accessed by car or bus, and you can also use the ropeway for a day trip. You can enjoy sightseeing and hiking in the summer, and winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter, and you can enjoy the rich nature throughout the four seasons. Snow in Kitayatsugatake usually peaks around December ~ February and disappears around April ~ early May. You can also check the state of Kitayatsugatake from the "Kita Yatsugatake Ropeway Official Website" and the live camera of "Pilatus Tateshina Snow Resort". When you visit, why not use it to check your clothes and the weather? ◆Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway◆ 【Address】4035-2541 Kitayama, Chino City, Nagano Prefecture 【Access】 car Chuo Expressway Suwa IC about 25kn (40~50 minutes) bus JR East Japan Get off at Chino Station on the Chuo Line Chino Station West Exit Alpico Kotsu Bus Stop Platform 2 bound for "Kita Yatsugatake Ropeway" (about 60 minutes)

Photographed from the ropeway of Kita Yatsugatake.
It was sunny that day, so we took the ropeway.
However, when I reached the summit, it was cloudy、、。
I can't read the weather in the mountains.
The summit was very cold at -12°C.

Wow what a cool sight! I've been out to Nagatoro and Chichibu and went on a riverboat ride and I think I remember the guy pushing the boat saying something about there being icicles there during the winter. I'd love to go back and see it sometime as this looks really amazing. Also we wanted to try the kayaking in Nagatoro as well since the water was too low when we went and the boat we rode on couldn't go as far downriver. I guess they have some skiing there as well, I'm not sure if it's connected to the ropeway at all, but that's another cool thing to do in the area. The mountain is really beautiful and I think there's probably a good amount of cherry blossoms if you go in the spring. I'd like to explore Chichibu more though as I hear there's a pilgrimage there where you can see temples and shrines and stuff.

Chichibu City, Saitama in winter
"Icicle of the Thirty Hammers" near the mouth of the three peaks

The icicles I saw for the first time were different from the documents and videos
It gave me a fantastic impression somehow.
It was normal to feel cold, but somehow I felt warmth.

A little later than usual tonight, work had me running late today. But wow! This is so beautiful! It seems like Nagano has so much beautiful scenery. I love the different ropeways that can be found all over Japan as well. I'd love to take a ride on this Kitayatsugatake Ropeway it looks like? Gonna have to wrap up pretty good though for this lol. It's crazy that even this far south of Hokkaido there's so much snow this year. Maybe it's normal for Nagano, I'm not really sure about the weather there normally, but it makes for some lovely photography at least! I'm going to try and get out this weekend, away from the crowds and try and get some fresh air if I can. Hopefully it goes well. Been staying away from crowded areas by just staying home but if I can go on a small trip and still avoid people then it should be fine!
