Writer Arata Iyohara was awarded the Naoki Prize. Congratulations. One of the five stories in this award-winning book, "The Sea of Indigo," is set in Shirataki, Engaru Town. On Friday, October 27, at the Shirataki International Center, the "Hokkaido Shirataki Ruins Excavated Products National Treasure Designation Commemorative Ceremony" was held with the invitation of all concerned parties. It is the oldest national treasure in Japan and the second national treasure designated as a national treasure in Hokkaido. Once again, I was proud that the treasures of Japan exist Engaru Town our town.

On Sunday, October 15, we held a sightseeing training tour for the townspeople. It is held every year with the aim of experiencing the tourism resources of the Engaru Town where you live and conveying its magnificence to both inside and outside the town. The main part of this year's tour is to visit the obsidian outcrop "Akaishiyama Hachigosawa Outcrop" in the Shirataki area. This outcrop deep in the mountains snows early, so it was the last visit of the year. The participants were overwhelmed by the dynamic outcrop of Hachigozawa and moved by the beauty of the autumn leaves. I would like to continue the tour to experience the treasures of Engaru Town.
