Hitachi Station - A Station With a View of the Sea: Video Introduction This video, titled "[Joban Line] Visiting a Station With a View of the Sea [Hitachi Station]" (【常磐線】海の見える駅へ行ってきた【日立駅】), was uploaded by "Tabi ni Detateru" (旅に出たてる), a channel that introduces train-related travelogues. Hitachi Station - A Popular Tourist Attraction Photo:Hitachi Station Hitachi Station is a station on the Joban Line connecting Tokyo to Miyagi Prefecture. It takes less than two hours to reach from Tokyo Station via limited express train. The station itself is a sightseeing attraction, with a view of the sea and the relaxing Sea Birds Cafe. The Hitachi Station building was designed by architect Kazuyo Sejima and looks like a museum. The all-glass station building overlooks the Pacific Ocean, creating the illusion that the station is floating on the sea. Check out the video to see the station; on Japanese social media you can find many photos of sunrises at Hitachi Station. On a clear day, the sunrise shines through the glass-walled building, and you can take some amazing photos that will look great on Instagram and other social networking sites. [Video] 1:27 - A Panoramic View of the Pacific Ocean at Hitachi Station Enjoy Lunch at a Café With a View of the Sea Near Hitachi Station Sea Birds Cafe is a popular spot at Hitachi Station. You can dine in a scenic location with all glass walls and a sweeping view of the ocean. In addition to delicious lunches and dinners, Sea Birds Cafe is also used for wedding receptions due to the beauty of the building. Hitachi Station attracts many people from outside Ibaraki Prefecture, a kind of popularity that only a station as unique as this would have. 5 Popular Stations With a View of the Sea in Japan's Kanto Region Photo:Nebukawa Station, Odawara, Kanagawa Shimonada Station in Ehime Prefecture is well known as a station with a view of the sea, but here we'll introduce five popular stations with a view of the sea in Japan's Kanto region. ・Aomi Station (Koto, Tokyo) Located at a bend in a canal, Aomi Station offers a view of Tokyo Gate Bridge and the sunrise. Aomi Station is becoming popular as a station with a view of the sea in Tokyo. ・Kamakura Koko-mae Station (Kamakura, Kanagawa) The retro Enoden and the shimmering blue sea are the perfect combination. In the evening, you can enjoy the sunset facing Enoshima. From the station platform, you can look out over Shichirigahama, a beach in Kanagawa. The area around the station has been used as a shooting location for TV dramas and anime, and is a great place to take moving photos. ・Nebukawa Station (Odawara, Kanagawa) Nebukawa Station in Odawara is an unmanned station built on a cliff overlooking Sagami Bay. It is also known as a popular destination for viewing the first sunrise of the year. The blue station building, reminiscent of a tropical island, is also popular. ・Umi-Shibaura Station (Yokohama, Kanagawa) Because Umi-Shibaura Station is located within the grounds of a factory, visitors cannot go outside the station. It's a secluded spot where you can only get off and on trains. You can enjoy a beautiful night view here because of the factory area in front of the station. It's popular among couples and photographers as a place where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the sea from within the city. ・Kozu Station (Odawara, Kanagawa) As you enter the platform of Kozu Station, Sagami Bay comes into view. After getting off the station and passing private residences, you'll reach the beach in just a few minutes. The area around the station has a nostalgic and peaceful atmosphere with retro private residences. Summary of Scenic Stations in Japan's Kanto Region The glass-walled station building of Hitachi Station accentuates the beauty of the ocean. The station attracts many tourists from all over Japan as a scenic spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In winter, the city of Hitachi holds an illumination event, and the lights make the areas in front of the station and Hitachi Civic Center look like a different world. In the past, there have also been events such as the "Winter Cherry Blossom Festival" in which the station is lit up in pink, the color of cherry blossoms. Hitachi Station is attracting attention as a station with a view of the sea. The experience of floating on the blue sea is attractive, but I would definitely like to see the sunrise as well. 【TripAdvisor】Hitachi Station https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g303154-d10210951-Reviews-Hitachi_Station-Hitachi_Ibaraki_Prefecture_Kanto.html -

Iya, Tokushima: Video Introduction This video, titled "One of the Top Three Unexplored Regions of Japan: Iya Valley and Kazurabashi Bridge: A Hidden Scenic Place in Tokushima (Tokushima, Japan)" (【日本三大秘境】祖谷の秘境とかずら橋 : A Hidden Scenic Place in Tokushima(Tokushima, Japan)), was uploaded by "Anna Film Production." Kazurabashi Bridge in Tokushima, Japan Photo:Kazurabashi Bridge, Tokushima Prefecture Kazurabashi Bridge is a suspension bridge that has been designated as an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese government and is located in Miyoshi, Tokushima, in Japan's Shikoku Region. There is also a Kazurabashi Bridge in Fukui Prefecture, but this article will focus on the bridge in Tokushima Prefecture. There are various theories about the history of Kazurabashi Bridge, such as that it was built the famous Buddhist monk Kukai (Kobo Daishi) for villagers in need, or that it was built by Heike warriors to allow them to escape from their pursuers and easily cut down the bridge. The bridge is approximately 2 meters wide and 45 meters long, and is made of vines from the hardy kiwi. When crossing the bridge, visitors can clearly see the scenery below through the gaps beneath their feet, making it a thrilling experience! This is a popular spot for both Japanese tourists, as well as foreign tourists. If you're looking to take some picturesque photos for Instagram, we recommend visiting during the illumination. [Video] 4:40 - Kazurabashi Bridge Another Vine Bridge in Tokushima Photo:Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge, Miyoshi, Tokushima In Miyoshi, Tokushima, there is actually one more vine bridge to be found. This is Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge. There are two bridges, a male bridge, and a female bridge, and together they are called "Meoto-bashi" (wedded bridges). There is also a bridge (gondola) called Yaen, which can be crossed by pulling a rope, but as of June 2022, it is out of service due to a malfunction. [Video] 12:44 - Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge Ochiai Village – A Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings Photo:Ochiai Village, Iya, Tokushima Ochiai Village is situated on a steep slope. The village retains a historic original Japanese landscape with houses built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period and stacked stone walls. In 2005, it was registered as a Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. In the video, you can see thatch-roofed houses and views of houses dotting the hillside. [Video] 0:16 - Ochiai Village The Beautiful Biwa Falls and a Village of Scarecrows Photo:Kakashi no Sato, Tokushima Prefecture Iya in Tokushima Prefecture is also known for its beautiful valleys. The 40-meter-tall Biwa Falls, named after a fallen Heike warrior who played the biwa at the falls in memory of the capital of Kyoto, is a relaxing waterfall where visitors bask in the abundant negative ions. Visitors can also enjoy a walk through the verdant Iya Valley to experience the pristine nature of the area. [Video] 7:29 - Biwa Falls Kakashi no Sato (lit. 'Scarecrow Village') is a name derived from the fact that many scarecrows can be seen in the Iya region. You can even see some of the expressive scarecrows in the video. It's a famous sightseeing spot in Tokushima and is also known as Ningyo-mura (doll village). [Video] 8:13 - A Village in the Sky, Kakashi no Sato Accommodations and Dining in the Iya Region of Tokushima, Japan If you are planning to stay in Iya, Tokushima, a recommended hotel is Hotel Kazurabashi. There are many hot spring resorts in Tokushima Prefecture, but this one offers open-air baths in the sky, accessed via cable car, so you can enjoy the natural beauty of the Iya Valley with some great views. We also recommend Hanbee no Ie (半兵衛の), a rest area/restaurant where visitors can relax around a sunken hearth. For meals, you can enjoy local dishes, such as grilled river fish, grilled fish coated with miso, wild vegetables, and other local delicacies. Forest Adventure Iya Valley: Experience the Great Outdoors in Tokushima, Japan Forest Adventure Iya Valley is an outdoor park that opened in 2017. The establishment offers exciting activities in the great outdoors! It features a long zipline, which makes you feel as though you're flying through the sky, and is especially popular with children. It's recommended to wear comfortable clothing and bring a change of clothes as well. Summary of Kazurabashi Bridge in Tokushima, Japan Photo:Kazurabashi Bridge, Iya, Tokushima The Iya region of Tokushima, Japan offers historic Japanese scenery and abundant natural beauty. To reach Kazurabashi Bridge, it takes about one hour from the Ikawa-Ikeda Interchange (井川・池田IC) by car. During the Nara Period (710-794 A.D.), he finally made his way to Japan after five unsuccessful attempts to travel there over a period of about 11 years, and after much hardship. When he came to Japan, Ganjin was already 66 years of age. He spent the first five years of his life in Japan at Todaiji Temple, where he established the precepts as the founder of the Risshu sect in Japan. He then opened a training center for those who would study the precepts. Later, many buildings, such as Kondo (金堂, lit. "Golden Hall"), were constructed by followers of Ganjin at this training center, and it became Toshodaiji Temple. In the Mieido Hall on the temple grounds, there is a seated statue of Ganjin (a National Treasure), and the doors are opened to the public in June for a special viewing each year. The stunning wall paintings completed by Kaii Higashiyama over a period of 10 years are also open to the public simultaneously. The Main Hall of Toshodaiji Temple Photo:Toshodaiji Temple Nara City, Nara Prefecture Kondo, the main hall located beyond Nandai-mon, the southern gate, is a representative building of Toshodaiji Temple that preserves the large wooden architecture of the Buddhist temple buildings of Japan's Nara period. In the center of the main hall is a seated statue of Vairocana that stand over 3 meters high, and to the right is a standing statue of Bhaisajyaguru, and to the left is a standing statue of the thousand-armed Kannon (all National Treasures). In the video, you can see the powerful and majestic Kondo Hall. [Video] 1:13 - Toshodaiji Temple's Kondo Hall Points of Interest at Toshodaiji Temple Photo:Toshodaiji Temple's Kodo Hall, Nara City, Nara Prefecture Toshodaiji Temple, a World Heritage site, has many precious temple buildings, and you can take photos lined with National Treasures to post on Instagram or simply keep as mementos of your trip. When you visit Toshodaiji Temple, you'll first see Nandai-mon (the south gate), and Kondo Hall (Golden Hall, the main hall) can be seen beyond it. Located between the main hall and the lecture hall is the two-story Kodo Hall (lecture hall). Next to the ordination platform, where stone steps have been preserved from Japan's Kamakura period (circa 1185-1333 A.D.), is the lotus pond said to have been introduced by Ganjin, the aforementioned Mieido Hall, and the sutra house and treasury on stilts. The auditorium where the statue of the Maitreya Buddha is enshrined can be seen here. [Video] 6:42 - Kodo Hall Various events are held throughout the year at Toshodaiji Temple. One of the most well-known is Uchiwa-Maki, in which hundreds of uchiwa (Japanese fans) are thrown from the temple tower. Receiving an uchiwa fan is said to bring good luck in warding off illnesses and evil spirits. Every year, on the anniversary of the death of Ganjin, the fans are scattered from the temple tower. Tickets for Uchi-Maki are distributed on the day of the ceremony. Aerial Views of Mt. Daisen in Tottori, Japan via Drone: Video Introduction This video, titled "Autumn Leaves of Mt.Daisen JAPAN【Scenery Of JAPAN 4K】," was uploaded by "SCENERY OF JAPAN." It introduces the breathtaking autumn leaves around Mt. Daisen in Tottori, Japan. Enjoy the beautiful panoramic scenery as far as the eye can see, in this magnificent 4.5-minute video of Mt. Daisen blanketed in autumn leaves. Daisenji Temple, a Must-See Tourist Attraction on Mt. Daisen Photo:Daisenji Temple, Tottori, Japan Mt. Daisen in Tottori Prefecture is located roughly in the center of Japan's San'in region. Its official name is "Hoki Daisen." The majestic mountain even appears in the Izumo Fudoki, a record of the history of Japan's former Izumo Region, which is said to have been written in 733 AD, making it one of the most historical mountains in the history of Japan. Daisenji Temple is one of the prominent tourist attractions on Mt. Daisen. To get there by car, take Prefectural Route 24 (commonly known as "Daisen Sightseeing Road" (大山観光道路, Daisen Kanko Douro)) from the Yonago Interchange on the Yonago Expressway to the Bakuroza parking lot (about 15 minutes), or by train or bus from JR Yonago Station to Daisenji Temple by Nikko Bus (about 50 minutes). Both routes offer a great view of the stunning autumn leaves. Daisenji Temple has a history of flourishing as a training center for Shugendo (mountain asceticism). At its peak, the temple had more than 100 temples and over 3,000 monks. Following the Heian period (794-1185 A.D.), the number of temples increased as mountain worship became increasingly Buddhist. It's said that at one time, the temple was as prosperous as Mt. Hiei, Mt. Yoshino, and Koyasan, 3 of the most prominent places for Buddhism in Japan. Beautiful Views, Autumn Leaves, and Mountain Climbing on Mt. Daisen Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Daisen The autumn leaves overlooking the rugged southern cliff of Mt. Daisen is truly a photogenic spot. Although there have been some changes over the past few years due to climate change, the leaves usually begin to change color in early October and are at their peak from late October to early November. The white snow on the top of the mountain and red autumn leaves blend harmoniously with each other, adding even more color to the already spectacular view. You can view this in the video. [Video] 0:11 - Spectacular Autumn Leaves on the South Face of Mt. Daisen in the Snow, Captured via Drone The forests are mainly broadleaf forests renowned for their beautiful autumn leaves, with beech, oak, maple, rowans, and mizunara oak being the main species. Mt. Daisen is the largest mountain in Japan's Chugoku and San'in regions and also one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. It is popular among climbers, tourists, and travelers year-round. Although it sits at an elevation of 1,709 meters, its beautiful conical shape seen from the northwestern side has earned it the nickname "Mt. Fuji in the East." Mt. Daisen's 2022 Autumn Illumination Event – Autumn Leaves & Traditional Japanese Umbrellas Photo:Mt. Daisen's illumination event, Tottori, Japan The autumn illumination event started as part of the 1,300th anniversary of the founding of Mt. Daisen in 2018, and is now a tradition of Mt. Daisen. Only because Tottori Prefecture has a large number of craftsmen is it possible to organize the autumn illumination displaying more than 100 wagasa (traditional Japanese umbrellas). The festival is held during the Obon Festival every year, but in 2022, it was held in October for the first time in two years. The event welcomed visitors with 120 wagasa and a variety of lanterns. In addition, there was a system for taking beautiful photos with the use of a smartphone, and a commemorative photo spot as well. It's a remarkable event, great for taking photos. Tickets for the 2022 event were sold exclusively online. No tickets were sold on the day of the event. We recommend checking ticket and other information as soon as possible in advance if you're planning to attend the next event. [Video] 2:44 - The Beautiful 'Mt. Fuji in the East' Summary of Autumn Leaves on Mt. Daisen During autumn on Mt. Daisen, a famous mountain in Tottori, Japan, the entire area is covered in beautiful autumn leaves. One of the most popular driving courses is the tunnel of autumn leaves leading to Kagikake Pass (鍵掛峠, Kagikake Toge). [Video] 1:32 - A Tunnel of Beautiful Beech Trees Leading To Kagikake Pass On weekends and other occasions, you can expect traffic on Prefectural Route 24. Even still, Mt. Daisen's autumn leaves are worth the time and effort to see. The autumn colors paint a magnificent canvas of autumn on Mt. Daisen, and we hope that you will enjoy the unique autumn leaves of Mt. Daisen with your own eyes. 【TripAdvisor】Mt. Daisen https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1121369-d1373369-Reviews-Mt_Daisen-Daisen_cho_Saihaku_gun_Tottori_Prefecture_Chugoku.html -

Flower Garden of Light, a Mother Farm Illumination: Video Introduction Photo:An illumination at Mother Farm This video, titled "Mother Farm Illuminations 2019-2020 — Flower Garden of Light" (マザー牧場 イルミネーション 2019-2020 光の花園), was uploaded by "Mother Farm" (マザー僕所). In this video, you can watch the 2019-2020 Flower Garden of Light event, a light show which took place at Mother Farm. Mother Farm is located on the slopes of Mt. Kano (鹿野山, kano-zan), from which breathtaking views of the Boso Peninsula, Tokyo Bay, Mt. Fuji, and Japan's beautiful mountain ranges can be seen. Occupying a vast swathe of land in Futtsu, Chiba, in Japan's Kanto region, Mother Farm was established in February 1962 by Hisakichi Maeda, the same man who established the Sankei Shimbun (a daily newspaper in Japan) and Tokyo Tower. One of Mother Farm's biggest draws is the fact that visitors can interact with a large variety of animals through events and feeding experiences. With great food and events, there's enough excitement for both kids and adults to spend a full day thoroughly enjoying themselves here. This hugely popular leisure spot in Japan's Kanto region is one of the first things that comes to mind when people think of Chiba prefecture. Of all of Mother Farm's seasonal events, the one that has people buzzing in anticipation about the most each year is the winter illumination show. With the theme "Flower Garden of Light," the show's colorful lights — which resemble the seasonal flowers of Japan — will bring the farm to life at night once again this year. Check out the video and be captivated by the farm's beautiful illuminations. [Video] 0:13 - One Million Lights [Video] 0:19 - Flower Field of Light [Video] 0:25 - Night-Time Bungie Jumping Amongst the Lights Highlights of Flower Garden of Light, a Mother Farm's Illumination Event Photo:Mother Farm, an amusement park in Chiba Prefecture Next, we'll walk you through some of the highlights of Flower Garden of Light, the illumination event at Mother Farm. ● Flower Field of Light Our top recommendation is the Flower Field of Light; the highest altitude illumination in Chiba Prefecture. In the Flower Field of Light area, visitors can see such delights as Mt. Fuji silhouetted against the dusk sky and Tokyo Bay's night views, all while enjoying the illuminations. The combination of the wintry flower meadow's twinkling lights and the surrounding scenery as the sunlight begins to fade, slowly giving way to night makes this a must-see attraction. ●Photo spot fairy area The newly introduced fairy area in 2023 will feature a landscape of melancholy light such as flower fields and windmills. Let's take a cute picture in "Fairy Country". ● Night-Time Amusement Park The sparkling Night-Time Amusement Park is home to Chiba's tallest (at its tallest point) Ferris wheel, merry go rounds, and, located 321 meters above sea level, the Night-Time Bungie Jump. Both children and adults are sure to lose track of time as they enjoy playing to their hearts' content. Food and Accommodations at Mother Farm Source :YouTube screenshot It would be a crime to miss the warming farm cuisine available at Mother Farm. Available only during the illumination season, the "All-You-Can-Eat Big Double Winter Warmer" (あったか2大食べ放題) offers Meisui Bamboo Steamed Mochi Pork (high quality pork steamed using water from a renowned water source), which can only be eaten at this time of year, and jingisukan (a Japanese mutton dish named after Ghengis Khan) on a 90-minute all you can eat menu. The warm, tasty food is sure to revitalize after enduring the cold temperatures outside. Add in a fully-stocked side menu and collection of limited sale sweets, and even the biggest of appetites will be satiated without a doubt. Mother Farm also offers value set tickets, advance tickets, and group plans, so make sure you check these out as well. [Video] 0:34 - All-You-Can-Eat Big Double Winter Warmer For those wishing to stay overnight, Mother Farm's partner hotel, Okura Akademia Park Hotel will get you in that holiday resort state of mind, and can be reached in 25 minutes by car from Mother Farm. It is also conveniently located approximately 60 minutes from central Tokyo via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line. Okura Akademia stands on the Kazusa Hill Range, surrounded by the sea and an abundance of greenery. An elegant and refined space with a balcony in each guest room, and seasonal ingredients from the Boso Peninsula in the restaurant, it's a great place to rest your weary body after a fun-filled day. Animal Events at Mother Farm Photo:A sheep at Mother Farm, Chiba Prefecture One of the biggest reasons for Mother Farm's popularity is that visitors can actually interact with the animals. This remains true even throughout the illumination season at Mother Farm. Relax with rabbits and guinea pigs at Bunny-Guinea Touch (うさモルタッチ, usa moru tacchi), or interact with fluffy sheep with a sheep feeding experience. It's a soothing experience for kids and adults alike. We hope you'll have a wonderful time with the adorable animals at these events! Mother Farm Illumination: Roundup Be it the night views, the cuisine, or the events, there's so much to do at the Mother Farm illumination! The fact that the venue is easily accessible by car or train from Japan's Kanto region makes it an even more attractive destination. Niseko Ziplines – What to Wear Photo:A woman wearing a rain coat The Niseko Zipline can be enjoyed in comfortable, everyday clothing, but skirts are not permitted. We recommend wearing clothes that are easy to move in and that you do not mind getting dirty. Since you will be walking on unpaved terrain, heels and sandals are not permitted, and sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Helmets are required on the Niseko Zipline, so if you have long hair, tie it up with a hair band in advance. If you're thinking about riding the Niseko Zipline on a rainy day, we recommend wearing a waterproof windbreaker or rain jacket. This will protect you from rainwater and provide a comfortable aerial experience. That being said, in the event of inclement weather, some activities may not take place or the number of active ziplines may change. Please check the weather forecast in advance. Unshoji Temple in Oga, Akita: Video Introduction This video, titled "[4K] A Temple Where Hydrangeas in All Shades of Blue Bloom Across the Precincts: Oga, Akita|nippon.com" (【4K】青一色の紫陽花(あじさい)が境内一面に咲き誇る寺:秋田県男鹿市| nippon.com), was uploaded by "nippon.com." The 1,500 hydrangeas that cover the temple grounds, also known as 'Blue Heaven,' make Unshoji a popular spot in Oga, Akita. It was also selected as one of "The Best Scenery in Japan" in 2017. Hydrangeas at Unshoji Temple Photo:Hydrangeas at Unshoji Temple, Oga, Akita The highlight of Unshoji Temple is the beautiful blue world that can be seen there. On a clear day, the blue of the cloudless sky, the blue of the sea in Oga, and the blue of the hydrangeas at Unshoji Temple all combine to create a unique view that you won't find anywhere else. Hydrangeas at Unshoji Temple, also known as "hydrangea temple," date back to when the temple's deputy chief priest was captivated by the beauty of a single hydrangea that was blooming quietly in a corner of the temple's grounds. After seeing this he began to take cuttings and plant the hydrangea to the delight of his parishioners and local residents. After 15 years, the hydrangea bloomed like a carpet of blue, moving the hearts of all who saw it. At night, when the hydrangeas are lit up, their blue color becomes deeper and more beautiful than in the daytime, creating fantastic scenery. The best time to view the hydrangeas is usually from mid-June to early July, and they are in full bloom in late June. [Video] 0:55 - Hydrangeas Lit Up at Unshoji Temple Unshoji Temple and Highlights of the Temple Photo:A cute Jizo statue at Unshoji Temple, Oga, Akita Usually in June and July, the precincts of Unshoji Temple are filled with vivid blue hydrangeas. Even before you pass through the temple gate, you'll be overwhelmed by their beauty, and your soul will be spirited away. Now we'll introduce some of the other highlights of Unshoji Temple besides the hydrangeas. Unshoji Temple belongs to the Soto sect of Japanese Buddhism. The temple was founded in 1624 (early Edo period). In the main hall, there are statues of the Gautama Buddha, Kannon, the Goddess of Compassion, Bodhidharma, and Manjushri. In addition to the joint tomb of the statues of Kannon and Kshitigarbha, the temple grounds are dotted with photogenic spots where you can take great pictures for Instagram, including elegant bamboo groves, Japanese umbrellas (wagasa), and the view from the observation deck. There are also "heart stones" in seven locations around the temple, which are said to grant wishes if found, and the gentle-looking Smiling Jizo. Be sure to check them out when you visit. [Video] 1:26 - Smiling Jizo Charms and Souvenirs at Unshoji Temple Charms and other souvenirs, like shuin stamps available only at Unshoji Temple, are also popular. One charm containing a single hydrangea petal costs 700 yen. Hydrangeas are believed to ward off evil spirits, prevent women from getting sick, bring families together, and bring good luck. There are three types of shuin stamps available at Unshoji Temple, all Hydrangea-themed, and they can be purchased for 500 yen each. However, during the hydrangea viewing period, there are special shuin stamps you can collect as well. Autumn at Saihoji, a Beautiful Moss Temple in Kyoto, Japan

Saiho-ji, a Moss Temple in Kyoto: Video Introduction Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto This video, titled "[8K] Autumn Leaves at Saiho-ji (Moss Temple)" ([8K] 西芳寺(苔寺)と紅葉 Saihoji Temple (moss temple) and autumn leaves), was uploaded by "AQUA Geo Graphic." Be sure to enjoy the beauty of Saiho-ji, a kokedera (moss temple) in Kyoto, and the breathtaking scenery of the temple in autumn. Saiho-ji Temple History Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto Saiho-ji Temple, also known as a "kokedera" (moss temple), is located in Nishikyo, Kyoto, in Japan's Kansai region. The temple was built by the Japanese Buddhist priest Gyoki at the order of Emperor Shomu during the Nara Period (710-794 A.D.), and is a famous temple with more than 1,300 years of history, whose grounds are covered with more than 120 varieties of moss. Throughout its long history, and changes in religious denominations, people throughout the ages have been captivated by the temple's beauty. During the Kamakura period (1185-1333 A.D.), it was a temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, but was destroyed by warfare. However, in 1339, the temple was restored as a Zen Buddhist temple by the famous Buddhist monk, calligrapher, poet, and master gardener Muso Kokushi. The garden at Saiho-ji Temple has served as a model for the gardens at Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavilin) and Ginkakuji (the Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. The Beautiful Garden of Saiho-ji Temple, a Moss Temple and World Cultural Heritage Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto The main attraction of Saiho-ji Temple is, as the name "moss temple" implies, the moss that covers the temple grounds, and the garden created by the master gardener Muso Kokushi. The upper section is a dry landscape garden, while the lower section is a strolling pond garden. The upper level, however, is currently closed to the public. Visitors often pray at the temple after reciting sutras and then stroll around the garden. The main attraction of the lower section of the garden at Saiho-ji Temple is Golden Pond (黄金池, Ogonchi), also called "Shinji-ike" (心字池, Heart-shaped Pond) because it's shaped like the Japanese character for "heart" (心). When the autumn leaves are at their best, the contrast between the temple's green moss and the autumn leaves dancing over the pond creates a beautiful scene. The teahouse Shonan-tei (湘南亭) is one of the highlights of the lower section, and is said to have been rebuilt by Sen no Shoan, the second son of Sen no Rikyu, a renowned Japanese tea master. The view of Golden Pond from the tsukimidai (月見台, moon-viewing platform) overhanging the north side of the teahouse is truly spectacular. Shonan-tei is also designated as an Important Cultural Property by the government of Japan. The upper section of the garden is not open to the public, but in Shitoan, a hall dedicated to the temple's founder, are enshrined the tablets of the founder Gyoki, Takaoka Shinno (a Japanese prince), and Muso Kokushi, as well as wooden statues of various prominent Japanese figures. On the upper level, there is a dry landscape garden. The dry landscape garden is a place where visitors can experience the history of the garden, as the masonry remains unchanged the temple was created by Muso Kokushi in 1339. The best time to see the lush moss at Saiho-ji Temple is during the rainy season, and the best time to see the autumn leaves is in November. Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto The best time to enjoy the contrast of moss and autumn leaves is from mid to late November, and the best time to see the 120-plus species of moss turn lush shades of green is typically from June to July, during Japan's rainy season. Saiho-ji Temple's Instagram page provides daily updates on the changing beauty of the garden. Be sure to check it out at @saihoji_daily before visiting! Saiho-ji Temple: Reservations, Admission Fees, Etc. Photo:The garden of Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto Saiho-ji Temple used to be open to visitors at any time, but as the number of visitors increased, so did the littering, noise, etc. As a result, the temple adopted reservation system in 1977 that allowed only a small number of visitors to visit the temple. Those who wish to visit when sightseeing in Kyoto should first decide on the day of their visit in advance and then apply for a reservation. Photo:Takada Castle Site Park, Joetsu, Niigata Takada Castle was built in 1614 by Matsudaira Tadateru, the sixth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The castle was built with a moat that utilized the river surrounding it. The castle was built in the Edo Period over the span of four months by order of the shogunate. In 1871, the castle was abandoned and converted into an army garrison. In 1908, the earthen mounds of the Ninomaru and Sanomaru (2nd and 3rd baileys) were removed and part of the moat was filled in. The moat and the restored three-story turret of Takada Castle are reminders of the castle's former glory. Today, the ruins of Takada Castle are maintained as Takada Castle Site Park, and the entire area is designated as a historic site by Niigata Prefecture. Takada Castle Site Park has many facilities, including the Takada Library, a history museum, athletic fields, and even a baseball field. Many citizens visit here because they can use both cultural and sports facilities. With a grass plaza and a promenade around the outer moat, visitors who take a stroll can enjoy the scenery of Japan's four seasons here. Festivals, Cherry Blossom Illuminations, and More! Everything to See at the Takada Castle Site Park Cherry Blossom Viewing Party Photo:Takada Castle Site Park illuminated, Joetsu, Niigata The Takada Castle Site Park Cherry Blossom Viewing Party is one of the biggest events of spring in Joetsu, Niigata. During the festival, the cherry blossoms are at their peak! Trees will be lit up from dusk till 9:00 P.M. In the year 1090 AD, approximately 2,200 cherry trees were planted here by local military personnel. In 1917, citizens were allowed to visit the area for leisure, and in 1926, the event was advertised nationwide and the first cherry blossom viewing party was held. Today, around 4,000 cherry trees bloom around Takada Castle Site Park. Most of them are Someiyoshino cherries, and from the beginning of the video, you can see a beautiful cherry blossom blizzard like a scene from a movie. The reflection of the blue skies and snow-covered Mt. Myoko on the surface of the moat is truly incredible. [Video] 0:59 - Cherry Blossoms and a Snow-covered Mt. Summer at Takada Castle Site Park – Beautiful Lotuses In summer, the outer moat of Takada Castle Site Park will be filled with lotuses. At the beginning of the Meiji Period (1868-1912 AD), people grew lotus roots to rebuilt the economy of the Takada Domain. This eventually led to the lovely views of lotuses we see today. The outer moat of Takada Castle was built using the nearby Sekikawa River (関川, Sekikawa). Although the eastern side has been filled in, it is still as large as approximately four Tokyo Domes. Every year, from the end of July to the middle of August, green leaves fill all the surface of this moat, while pink flowers bloom atop them. The scale and beauty of the blooms is said to be the best in the East. Lotus flowers tend to open at dawn or early morning and close around noon. To see the lotus flowers in full bloom, we recommend visiting early in the morning. The rice terraces are located in Wajima City (輪島市, Wajima-shi), of Ishikawa Prefecture. The Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces are located in Shiroyone, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture in the Hokuriku region (北陸地方, Hokuriku chiho) of Japan. The view of the rice terraces changes with the seasons, making it a popular sightseeing area. In this article, we'll introduce the history and appeal of the Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces, as well as information for visitors. The rice terraces are considered the epitome of Japanese agriculture, as well as the definitive landscape of Japan. Enjoy exploring the rice terraces shown in the article. Be sure to follow along with the video as well! The Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces Photo:Ishikawa Shiroyone Senmaida The Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces can be found on Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. The rice terraces are said to have been created nearly 400 years ago. There are around 1,004 paddy fields arranged on the steep slopes, each about 20 squares meters in size and in a variety of shapes. The view of the rice terraces descending into the Sea of Japan can be seen at 0:05 in the video. The Shiroyane Senmaida Rice Terraces are designated not only as a national "Place of Scenic Beauty," but also as one of "Japan's Top 100 Terraced Rice Paddies." In addition, the rice terraces are also a "Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System," known as "Noto's Satoyama and Satoumi." As farming machinery is too large for the paddy fields, the traditional hand-farming method "Nawashiroda" (苗代田) is used. The paddy fields all belong to certain owners who are in charge of their maintenance. Every year, the Shiroyone Senmaida Planting and Harvesting Event is held, with the owners and volunteers working together to plant and harvest rice by hand. Photo:Ishikawa Shiroyone Senmaida As you can see in the video, you can enjoy the summer view of the refreshingly green rice terraces. However, the rice terraces change with the seasons, making it a gorgeous view all throughout the year. In the spring, water soaks the paddy fields for rice planting, causing the terraces to sparkle and reflect the blue sky. In autumn, the rice has grown and the terraces turn a beautiful golden-yellow. During the peak rice-harvesting season, there are even wedding ceremonies held at the rice terraces. In winter, the sight of snow covering the rice terraces is absolutely beautiful, and you can also enjoy the illumination along Aze Street, "Aze no Kirameki" (あぜのきらめき, Aze-no-kirameki). The official mascot "Senren-chan" occasionally participates in events as well. The Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces can be accessed through public transport. The rice terraces are a 5-minute walk from the Shiroyone Senmaida bus station, which is 2 and a half hours by bus from Kanazawa station (金沢駅, Kanazawa-eki) in Ishikawa Prefecture. For visitors travelling by personal or rental car, there is a parking area available at the roadside station "Senmaida Pocket Park." The address is- Ishikawa Prefecture, Wajima City, Shiroyanecho 99-5 (石川県輪島市白米町99-5, Ishikawa-ken Wajima-shi Shiroyane-cho 99-5). Summary of Ishikawa Prefecture’s Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces Photo:Aze no Kirameki illumination In this video, “Ishikawa Shiroyone Senmaida - 白米千枚田 - 4K Ultra HD,” you can enjoy the beautiful view of the rice terraces. The sight of the rice terraces and the sea, dyed red by the setting sun, is breathtaking. Furthermore, at the roadside station “Senmaida Pocket Park,” onigiri made from rice harvested at the rice terraces, as well as various related souvenirs, are also available. In Noto Peninsula, there are many other sightseeing areas such as the Kamogaura Promenade (鴨ヶ浦遊歩道, Kamogaura yuhodo), Makaki no Sato Seiho (間垣の里 西保, Aidagaki-no-sato seiho), Elephant Nose Lookout (ゾウゾウ鼻展望台, Zozo-hana tenboudai), Oketaki Falls (桶滝, Oketaki), as well as Nametaki Falls (男女滝, Nametaki). Of course, you can enjoy fresh seafood as well. If you happen to be visiting Kanazawa City, besides the nearby attractions, why not try making a trip to Noto Peninsula as well?
