It introduces the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Sagano (嵯峨野, Sagano), Arashiyama, in Kyoto City (京都市, Kyoto-Shi), Kyoto (京都府,Kyoto-Fu), in the Kansai region (関西地方, Kansai-Chiho) of Japan. The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a path from Okochi Sanso Villa in Sagano (嵯峨野, Sagano), in the Ukyo-Ward (右京区, Ukyo-Ku) of Kyoto, to Nonomiya Shrine. As you can see from 0:18 in the video, the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is roughly 400 meters long, and this refined site is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Arashiyama, Kyoto. You can see the fresh greenery of the bamboo forest, along with soothing music. It's also called "Bamboo Grove." Togetsukyo-Bridge and Katsura River (桂川, Katsura-Gawa) are also within walking distance of the forest. Events at the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest Photo:Kyoto・Arashiyama Hanatouro Every winter at the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, a special night-time illumination event called "Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro" is held. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful night view of the Bamboo Forest lit up at night. For access to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, we recommend the route from Tenryuji Temple to the North Gate where Nomiya Shrine is located. Since there is no parking, we recommend going by train. The Sagano Romantic Train Photo:Sagano Romantic Train The Sagano Romantic Train is a sightseeing train in Arashiyama, which was reconstructed from a defunct railroad and was reborn as a new tourist attraction in the area. It runs along the Hozu River (保津川, Hozu-Gawa) from "Torokko Kameoka Station," which is close to Umahori Station on the JR West San'in Main Line, to "Torokko Saga Station via Torokko Arashiyama Station where the bamboo forest is located. The train operates from 9:00 A.M. Check the official Sagano Scenic Railway website for a detailed schedule. Dining in Arashiyama, Kyoto Photo:Arashiyama, Kyoto・Croquette There are many restaurants and places to grab lunch in Arashiyama. We'll introduce a few below. The most popular and classic food are the croquettes from Nakamuraya Shop. The croquettes from Shop Arashiyama Tanaka are also reasonably priced and we recommend them as well. Yuba-suki croquettes are also available at Yoshiya Arashiyama Honten. You won't be able to find them anywhere else. Saga Tofu Ine is a restaurant offering tofu dishes, yuba soup, and yuba donuts. As for dessert, Shinpachi Chaya sells authentic gelato, which won third place in the Gelato World Tour. Besides these, there are a number of delicious treats perfect for your Instagram, and as gifts. For example, the upside-down soft serve ice cream from Kyozuan! Sightseeing in the Arashiyama Area Photo:Rickshaw In addition to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, there are many more sightseeing spots in Arashiyama as well. The most famous is Arashiyama Onsen (Hot spring). There is also a footbath near Arashiyama Station, so you can soak your legs and feet in a shallow hot spring bath to rid yourself of the fatigue from your travels. Another activity you can enjoy in Arashiyama is dressing up as a maiko in kimono and going sightseeing! You can dress up as a maiko for 2 hours and experience what Arashiyama was like in the Heian Period (794-1185 AD). The rickshawsin Arashiyama can also take you around the surrounding area, to places such as Togetsukyo-Bridge and Okochi Sanso Villa. The god of marriage and childbirth is enshrined at Nomiya Shrine, and there is also a power spot called Okameishi (Turtle Rock). It is said that if you rub this turtle-shaped stone while praying, your wish will be granted within a year. We also recommend checking out other tourist sites, such as the Kimono Forest, Daikakuji Temple, the "Rinsen Style Garden" (a strolling garden incorporating ponds and hills), Jojakkoji Temple, and Hozugawa River Boat Ride. You can also enjoy a stunning view of Kaiyo Park from the bridge and the surrounding area. The Jogasaki Coast (城ヶ崎海岸, jougasakikaigan) was formed from the lava of an eruption which took place over 4,000 years ago at Mt. Omuro (大室山, oomuroyama), one of the volcanos in the Izu-Tobu volcano range (伊豆東部火山郡, izutoubukazangun). The corrosion caused by the lava created a sea cave known as "Hanshiro otoshi" (半四郎落し). The Kadowaki suspension bridge, which hangs between this sea cave and Kadowaki cape, is 48 meters in length and 23 meters high. The Kadowaki suspension bridge is also referred to as the Jogasaki suspension bridge, as it hangs above the Jogasaki Coast in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park (富士箱根伊豆国立公園, fujihakoneizukokuritsukouen). It's popular with dog-walkers and hikers. A variety of fish can be caught at the nearby Futo Harbour (富戸漁港, futogyokou) and Uomigoya (魚見小屋, uomigoya). We highly recommend trying some fresh seafood dishes at the nearby restaurant Boranaya (ぼら納屋) as well! There is another bridge with a great view in the Jogasaki Coastal area, called the Hashidate Suspension Bridge (橋立吊橋, hashidatetsuribashi). If you're visiting the area, we recommend crossing both bridges. If you have time to spare, we also highly recommend visiting other popular tourist spots, such as Renchakuji temple (蓮着寺) and Manaita Iwa (俎岩). Ryuogabuchi Pond – A Photographer's Dream Do you know of the mysterious pond deep in the mountains of Nara Prefecture? This time, we'll introduce the video "【日本の絶景】新緑の龍王ヶ淵 Ryuogabuchi Superb view of Nara Japan 4K," uploaded by "SOTOBURA." Ryuogabuchi Pond is a famous location for photography in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, thanks to its beautiful reflective water surface. The crystal-clear pond is also a popular spot for photographers as the surrounding mountains reflect off the water's surface like a mirror. It's also famous as an "instagrammable" location in Japan. And with that, let's dive into the video of Ryuogabuchi Pond! A Closer Look at Ryuogabuchi! Photo:Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Ryuogabuchi is located on the hillside of Mt. Nukai, a small mountain in Yamato Fuji, and the water flowing from the approximately 530m tall mountain is crystal clear, creating a mysterious pond. At 1:08 in the video, you can see the mysterious reflection of the trees of Mt. Nukai on the surface of the pond. The pond is 150 meters across from east to west and 100 meters across from north to south, making it a popular walking course. Some parts of the trail can be marshy and sometimes wet, so be sure to wear some comfortable sneakers. The nearby Horikoshi Shrine worships Toyotama-hime, who appears in the folk tale Urashima Taro. The video shows the quiet surface of the pond, but there are a lot of tourists on holidays, so we recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds and enjoy a quiet view of the pond. The Best Time to Visit Ryuogabuchi Pond Photo:Starry skies at Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Ryuogabuchi is an amazing place to visit in the summer when the leaves are fresh and green, and in the fall when the leaves change to beautiful shades of red and orange. You can also enjoy breathtaking snowy scenery during the winter months. That being said, if you're driving in winter, you'll need to be prepared with snow tires. On a clear, windless day, the lake does not stir, and the surrounding scenery is said to reflect beautifully off of its surface. Because it is located deep in the mountains, you'll be able to see the stars on clear nights as well. Fishing is prohibited at Ryuogabuchi Pond, as it's considered a place of faith. Sightseeing Around Ryuogabuchi Pond Photo:Murouji Temple, Nara Prefecture There are many tourist attractions, including temples, around Ryuogabuchi in Nara Prefecture. In particular, nearby you'll find Murouji Temple and Onoji Temple, for which the nearest station, Muroguchi-Ono Station, is named. Approximately 100 mikumari cherry trees line the banks of the Hono River and they're lit up, making it a popular cherry blossom spot in the city. Ryuogabuchi is only 10 minutes away from the Hari Interchange on the Meihan National Highway (名阪国道針IC), so it's a good place to visit by car. Parking is also available, so you can visit easily. Summary of the Ryuogabuchi Area Photo:Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Check out the video of Ryuogabuchi and be soothed by the clear blue skies and tranquil pond. If you're looking to relax and get away from work, be sure to visit Ryuogabuchi. You can also enjoy listening to the playful sounds of fish and frogs jumping in the pond. One of the lakes, Kagami-numa in Senboku City, Akita Prefecture, is called "Hachimantai Dragon Eye" because the snow on the surface of the lake melts into a doughnut shape, making it look like the eye of a dragon. The dragon's eye is only visible for two weeks, and heavy equipment is required to climb the mountain during the snowy season. Seeing a scene like the one in this video is extremely rare, so it's a must-see! -

The Niyodo River in Shikoku Is Famous for Having the Clearest Waters of All Rivers in Japan! Enjoy the Mystical World of the Crystal Clear Waters Coined "Niyodo Blue"!

Niyodo River: The Best Water Quality in Japan! This video, titled "[4K] 仁淀ブルー:奇跡の清流 仁淀川(高知県 仁淀川水系)Niyodo River, the best water quality river in Japan.," was created by "AQUA Geo Graphic." When asked about famous rivers in the Shikoku region, most people picture the Shimanto River (四万十川, shimantogawa), but did you know there is an even prettier river in the area? I'm of course referring to the Niyodo River. As the third largest river in Shikoku, after the Shimanto River and Yoshino River (吉野川, yoshinogawa), it ranks number one year after year as the river with the best water quality in Japan. As you can see in the video, the crystal clear water of the Niyodo River is absolutely stunning and has been given the name "Niyodo Blue" after its mystical blue color. In the video, you can enjoy viewing the river from both above and below the surface of the water! Serpent Sanctuaries and Instagrammable Spots Near the Niyodo River Photo:Niko Deep, Kochi Prefecture Mt. Ishizuchi's (石鎚山, ishizuchisan) Omogo River in Ehime Prefecture (愛媛県, ehimeken) is the main water source for the Niyodo River and the streams that run through the valleys of Kochi Prefecture (高知県, kouchiken). Niyodo River is 124 kilometers long and has a surface area of 1,560 square kilometers. The river runs through mainly mountainous regions and the combination of both the beautiful natural surroundings and stunning blue color of the river makes the area very picturesque. From 1:50 in the video, you can see the basin of "Nikobuchi" (にこ淵), which is thought to be the home of the legendary eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi. On a sunny day during the hours of 11 am and 3 pm, the light shines directly into the pool and the blue color of the river is even more prominent. We highly recommend visiting Nakatsu Gorge (中津渓谷, nakatsukeikoku) and Yasui Gorge (安居渓谷, yasuikeikoku) during the fall to see the beautiful scenery. There are many beautiful spots along Nakatsu Gorge, such as Uryu Falls (雨竜の滝, uryuunotaki), Momiji Falls (もみじだき) and Ryugubuchi (竜宮淵). The special rocks called "Ishibashira" (石柱) are another great sightseeing spot. The pool of water known as "Suishobuchi" (水晶淵) along Yasui Gorge changes color from blue to green depending on the season and time of day. The contrasting colors of the fall foliage and the river attracts many visitors and the area has become a very popular tourist destination. In the second half of the video, from 2:09, you can see some of the low-water crossings found along Niyodo River. A distinguishing feature of these types of bridges is that they have no sides or guard rails, which allows them to blend easily into the surrounding nature creating a beautiful landscape. The Niyodo River Is Popular Among Both Locals and Tourists! Photo:Niyodo River, Kochi Prefecture In recent years the number of tourists visiting the Niyodo River has increased dramatically, but the river is still just as popular among the locals. The Niyodo River area has a population of approximately 110,000. In the middle reaches of the river, there's the multi-purpose Odo Dam (大渡ダム) and facilities for flood control and power supply development, which support the lives of people living in harmony with the Niyodo River. There are also several campsites in the area for those who'd like to spend the night in the beautiful outdoors. There are many fun activities to take part in, such as canoeing and rafting or you can simply go for a swim. There is also a stone skipping competition held here each year. The locals can often be seen playing in the river. In 2002, the Niyodo River was the most visited river in Japan. Not only is it the most beautiful river in Japan, it's also the most loved river by its locals. Summary of the Niyodo River Photo:The Niyodo River and a low-water crossing, Kochi Prefecture The mystical blue water of the Niyodo River captivates all who look upon it. The majority of the river is surrounded by mountains making it fairly difficult to access via public transportation. We recommend renting a car or taking a trip to the river by bike! There is a roadside station near the river with hot spring facilities where you can also spend the night, a perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. For those who don't have a valid driver's license in Japan but still wish to visit the Niyodo River, please check out the Niyodo River Tourist Association (仁淀川観光協会, niyodogawa kankou kyoukai) website for more information on how to access the river via public transport (※Unfortunately the website is only in Japanese). Some of the roads from the car park to the spots introduced in the video can be slippery so please be careful when walking. If you still haven't yet, be sure to enjoy the mystical world of the beautiful, blue Niyodo River in the video. 【Tripadvisor】Niyodo River https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298233-d10383500-Reviews-Niyodo_River-Kochi_Prefecture_Shikoku.html -

Iya, Tokushima: Video Introduction This video, titled "One of the Top Three Unexplored Regions of Japan: Iya Valley and Kazurabashi Bridge: A Hidden Scenic Place in Tokushima (Tokushima, Japan)" (【日本三大秘境】祖谷の秘境とかずら橋 : A Hidden Scenic Place in Tokushima(Tokushima, Japan)), was uploaded by "Anna Film Production." Kazurabashi Bridge in Tokushima, Japan Photo:Kazurabashi Bridge, Tokushima Prefecture Kazurabashi Bridge is a suspension bridge that has been designated as an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese government and is located in Miyoshi, Tokushima, in Japan's Shikoku Region. There is also a Kazurabashi Bridge in Fukui Prefecture, but this article will focus on the bridge in Tokushima Prefecture. There are various theories about the history of Kazurabashi Bridge, such as that it was built the famous Buddhist monk Kukai (Kobo Daishi) for villagers in need, or that it was built by Heike warriors to allow them to escape from their pursuers and easily cut down the bridge. The bridge is approximately 2 meters wide and 45 meters long, and is made of vines from the hardy kiwi. When crossing the bridge, visitors can clearly see the scenery below through the gaps beneath their feet, making it a thrilling experience! This is a popular spot for both Japanese tourists, as well as foreign tourists. If you're looking to take some picturesque photos for Instagram, we recommend visiting during the illumination. [Video] 4:40 - Kazurabashi Bridge Another Vine Bridge in Tokushima Photo:Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge, Miyoshi, Tokushima In Miyoshi, Tokushima, there is actually one more vine bridge to be found. This is Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge. There are two bridges, a male bridge, and a female bridge, and together they are called "Meoto-bashi" (wedded bridges). There is also a bridge (gondola) called Yaen, which can be crossed by pulling a rope, but as of June 2022, it is out of service due to a malfunction. [Video] 12:44 - Oku-Iya Double Vine Bridge Ochiai Village – A Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings Photo:Ochiai Village, Iya, Tokushima Ochiai Village is situated on a steep slope. The village retains a historic original Japanese landscape with houses built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period and stacked stone walls. In 2005, it was registered as a Nationally Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. In the video, you can see thatch-roofed houses and views of houses dotting the hillside. [Video] 0:16 - Ochiai Village The Beautiful Biwa Falls and a Village of Scarecrows Photo:Kakashi no Sato, Tokushima Prefecture Iya in Tokushima Prefecture is also known for its beautiful valleys. The 40-meter-tall Biwa Falls, named after a fallen Heike warrior who played the biwa at the falls in memory of the capital of Kyoto, is a relaxing waterfall where visitors bask in the abundant negative ions. Otsu Beach, Toyokoro, Hokkaido: Video Introduction This video, titled "[Jewelry Ice] Toyokoro, Otsu Beach, Near the Mouth of the Tokachi River|Mavic Pro 4K|Aerial Photography" ([ジュエリーアイス] 豊頃町 大津海岸 十勝川河口付近 Mavic Pro 4K 空撮), was uploaded by "Koichi Katayama" (片山昇一). Otsu Beach is located in Toyokoro, on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island and is a vast expanse of land overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It's known as one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hokkaido in recent years for its "Jewelry Ice," natural artwork created by nature. Among Hokkaido's many exciting tourist destinations, people are especially interested in seeing the jewelry ice. Enjoy the beautiful views of winter in Japan along with some relaxing music. [Video] 0:16 - A Fantastic Sunrise Over the Foggy Sea Where to See the Jewelry Ice – Otsu Beach in Toyokoro, Hokkaido Photo:Harunire Tree, Toyokoro, Hokkaido Toyokoro is located in Tokachi, Hokkaido. It takes about 40 minutes to reach from Obihiro by car. This city is near the mouth of the Tokachi River. It's called "The Birthplace of Tokachi" due to its history as the starting place where the Tokachi region expanded upstream from the mouth of the Tokachi River. This city's name came from the word "Toekoro." The name, meaning "The place where giant butterburs grow," comes from the Ainu language. From oceans and mountains to vast plains… Toyokoro is full of natural beauty. In addition to the sightseeing spots with beautiful waterside scenery such as Lake Choboshi (長節湖, Choboshiko) and Lake Yudo (湧洞湖, Yudoko), the town's symbol, the "Harunire Tree," is estimated to be 150 years old and is a popular photo spot where visitors can enjoy different expressions in each of Japan's four seasons. A short car ride will take you to the rich ocean, Otsu Beach, and Otsu Fishing Port (大津漁港, Otsugyoko), where you can see "jewelry ice." It's a relatively new, but popular, tourist attraction thanks to its beautiful scenery. Of course, the seafood here is delicious as well, so be sure to try some after sightseeing in the area. [Video] 0:59 - Mist Over the Tokachi River How Does the Jewelry Ice Form? When Can I see the Jewelry Ice? Photo:Jewlery ice, Toyokoro, Hokkaido "Jewelry ice" is a group of ice blocks that have washed up on the shore. This ice comes from the Tokachi River and flows to the Pacific Ocean. As the ice is battered by waves, the edges are removed and the ice becomes smooth, clear and crystal-like. The resulting product of this natural phenomenon is the beautiful jewelry ice. Jewelry ice, created by the severe cold of Tokachi and the Tokachi River, shines like a beautiful jewel in the sunlight. The jewelry ice changes its color beautifully from yellow, gold, orange, red, purple, and blue depending on the time of day, making it a popular destination for tourists and photographers alike. The best time to see the jewelry ice is usually from mid-January to late February on the sandy beach near the mouth of the Tokachi River in Otsu, Toyokoro. Photographing the Jewelry Ice at Sunset: Tips for Photographers Photo:Jewelry ice shining brightly at sunrise It's recommended that you take photos when the sun rises. By doing so, you can really capture the beauty of the natural phenomenon. Sunrise is from 6:40 - 7:00 a.m. in January and February. You should visit there around 30 to 60 minutes before the sunrise to take photos and prepare. Look for jewel-like clear ice or ice with mysterious holes created by nature, and take pictures by arranging the ice in a composition that takes into account the direction of the morning sunrise and the waves. It'll make for some amazing Instagram photos as well! Suffice it to say, you can easily take some amazing photos here. There's even a special page on Toyokoro's official website where information about the "jewelry ice" is updated daily. Be sure to check it out if you're visiting! Things to Be Careful of When Viewing the Jewelry Ice – Respect the Local Residents Please remember to be considerate of local residents around the area where jewelry ice can be seen, as there are residential areas in close proximity. If you're coming by car, please use the free parking lots, as cars are not allowed on the beach. Parking on the street is strictly prohibited, as it can inconvenience the local residents and obstruct access for emergency vehicles. Please remember to observe good manners, especially when visiting the site at night or early in the morning, particularly with regards to parking, noise, and disposing of trash. Summary of Jewelry Ice at Otsu Beach Photo:Jewelry ice and stars at Otsu Beach, Hokkaido Temperatures during this time of year, when thew jewelry ice can be seen, can drop below -20°C! The lowest temperatures are often recorded early in the morning, between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., and taking into account windchill, etc., it can feel like it's -25°C to -30°C outside. Therefore, it's important to dress warm to protect yourself from the cold. Body temperature varies greatly depending on the strength of the wind and humidity, so please check the weather forecast and temperature in advance to be well prepared for your trip. It's also said that electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, etc.) should be kept warm with body warmers, as extremely low temperatures may temporarily cause batteries to drain faster. Be sure to fill a water bottle with a hot drink and drink it to stay warm while you admire the clear sparkling ice. If you end up visiting and taking some photos, we'd love to see them in our photo contests as well! [TripAdvisor] Otsu Beach -

A Snowy Ohara Sanzenin Temple, Kyoto: Video Introduction This video, titled "[4K] Snowing Sanzenin Temple, Ohara, Kyoto | The Garden of Kyoto Japan" ([4K] 三千院・雪 京都大原 京都の庭園 Sanzenin Temple in Snow [4K] The Garden of Kyoto Japan), was uploaded by "Yurara Sarara." Ohara, hidden in the mountains of Kyoto, is the birthplace of Oharame (大原女, lit. "Woman of Ohara"), women from the town of Ohara who peddled firewood hundreds of years ago in Japan. Once known as a place to spend a secluded life, it's home to many ancient temples. This is where Ohara Sanzenin Temple resides. In the summer, people can enjoy the fresh greenery of the moss and Japanese maple leaves. But in winter, it changes completely. Everything is covered with snow, and it becomes incredibly quiet and peaceful. Historical buildings like the Kyakuden (客殿, reception hall), Shinden, and Ojo Gokurakuin (Amida Hall) give visitors a glimpse into Japan's wabi-sabi culture. Be sure to check out Ohara Sanzenin Temple during winter in the video! Senzenin Temple – Religion, Characteristics, and More Photo:Sanzenin Temple, Sakyo, Kyoto Sanzenin Temple is located in Ohara, Kyoto, in Japan's Kansai region. It is a Tendai sect temple started by the Japanese Buddhist monk Dengyo Daishi Saicho. The principal image of the temple is Yakushi Nyorai (Bhaisajyaguru, the Healing Buddha). It's said that the origin of Sanzenin Temple is Enyu-bo Temple, built on Mt. Hiei around the 8th century. After many transfers, it finally moved to Ohara in 1871. People began calling it "Sanzenin" after it came to Ohara, but originally it was called "Enyu-in" (Enyu-bo) or "Entoku-in." In the late Heian period (794 - 1185 AD), the imperial family began to live in the temple. Because of this, a member of Japan's imperial family has even been a chief priest of the temple. There are three temples of the Tendai sect (Sanmon school) whose chief priest belonged to Japan's imperial family: Shorenin, Myohoin, and Sanzenin. Sanzenin is the oldest of the three. As an ancient temple which has more than 1,200 years of history, it's a famous spot for travelers. Must-See Attractions at Sanzenin Temple on the Outskirts of Kyoto Photo:Jizo statues at Sanzenin Temple, Kyoto Highlights of Ohara Sanzenin Temple include the beautiful gardens, Shuheki-en and Yusei-en. Visitors can enjoy the relaxing views while drinking matcha in the Shoin (study). Through the trees, visitors can spot Ojo Gokurakuin Temple, an Important Cultural Property of Japan. The statue enshrined at Oujo Gokurakuin Temple is the National Treasure, Amida Sanzon. The image depicts the Amitabha Buddha and others coming to welcome believers from the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss at their time of death. In addition, the ceiling is decorated with extremely vivid paintings to represent Sukhavati, the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in Buddhism. Warabe Jizo statues, which can be encountered around the temple grounds, is also popular among visitors. In the video you can see a Warabe Jizo standing in the snow at Ohara Sanzenin Temple. [Video] 1:34 - "Warabe Jizo" Covered with Snow At Konjiki Fudo-do, you can receive a shuin stamp of Konjiki Fudo-do (the Hall of the Golden Acala), written with gold paint (limited to every 28th of the month or when the door of Konjiki Fudo-son is opened). The principal image of Ohara Sanzenin Temple is Yakushi Nyorai (Bhaisajyaguru, the Healing Buddha), and so the temple is said to protect against diseases. You can go there to pray for someone you care about. Autumn Leaves and Hydrangeas… The Seasonal Charms of Sanzenin Temple Photo:Autumn leaves at Sanzenin Temple, Kyoto At Ohara Sanzenin Temple, visitors can enjoy both snowy landscapes and beautiful scenery in each of Japan's four seasons. Starting in the middle of June, Ajisai-en, the hydrangea garden, is very popular due to the approximately 1,000 beautifully blooming hydrangeas. Especially popular are the star-shaped "shichidanka" hydrangeas, which are also referred to as "phantom hydrangeas" and are well worth seeing. In the summer, carpets of green moss and blue maple trees adds color to the surrounding area. In autumn, Ohara Sanzenin Temple is enveloped in beautiful autumn colors, creating a truly photogenic space. The colorful autumn foliage of Ohara Sanzenin Temple has even become famous in Japan. Even now, the temple is crowded with many tourists in autumn. Admission for all seasons is 700 yen for adults, and an additional 500 yen for those looking to participate in the tea ceremony. It takes about one hour to see everything that Ohara Sanzenin Temple has to offer. Take a leisurely stroll through the temple grounds and enjoy the seasons, and relax with a cup of green tea and traditional Japanese sweets while admiring the beautiful garden. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture This video, titled "[Official] Higashi Odaigahara, Kamikitayama, Nara|Promotional Video (Short Ver.)" (【公式】奈良県上北山村・東大台ヶ原(HIGASHI ODAIGAHARA)プロモーション映像(短編)), was uploaded by "kamikitayama." Mt. Odaigahara is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and the entire mountain is designated as Yoshino-Kumano National Park. It's divided into Higashi-Odaigahara, which anyone can visit, and Nishi-Odaigahara, which requires advance permission to enter in order to protect the natural environment. Enjoy the beauty of Higashi-Odaigahara, a charming place for hiking, mountain climbing, and even just a walk, in the video below. Higashi-Odaigahara – A Popular Hiking and Trekking Spot With Beginner Courses Photo:A suspension bridge at Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is a sightseeing spot selected as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and 100 Unexplored Regions of Japan. The mountain is located in Kamikitayama, Nara, in Japan's Kansai region. Mt. Odaigahara is popular among climbers and hikers because of its unrestricted access. Mt. Odaigahara has four trekking trails that can be climbed and hiked, ranging from beginner to advanced courses. The A trail (middle trail) for beginners starts from the Mt. Odaigahara parking lot and passes Hinodegatake, Masakigahara, Owashi Tsuji, Ushiigahara, Ojigura, and Owashi Tsuji before returning to the parking lot again. From the observatory on Mt. Hinodegatake, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Omine Mountain Range and other mountains, and if the weather is nice early in the morning, you may even be able to see Mt. Fuji. As the name "Hinodegatake" (lit. "Sunrise Mountain") suggests, the summit is known as a sunrise viewing spot where visitors can watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain. Masaki Pass, located just before Masakigahara, offers a mysterious view of dead and fallen trees on a wide hill, and a spectacular view of the Kumano-nada Sea beyond. Masakigahara is a vast grassy area with trees and a view of Masaki Pass in front of it, where wild deer are frequently seen. The highlight of the beginner course in Higashi-Odaigahara is Daijagura, an 800-meter precipice that offers visitors a panoramic view of the Omine Mountains. Trail A for beginners is about 9 km long and takes about 4 hours to complete. Trail B, for intermediate-level climbers, is the same as Trail A with the addition of Shiokara Valley. This popular course has a slope called "Shakunage Slope" (Rhododendron Slope) where rhododendrons bloom for about a week every year from May 20, leading up to Shiokara Valley. Shiokara Valley has a suspension bridge, and visitors can also enjoy a walk along it downstream. Nishi-Odaigahara, a Treasure Trove of Nature That Requires a Permit to Enter Photo:The outdoors of Nishi-Odaigahara Mt. Odaigahara can be divided into two main areas. One is the Higashi-Odaigahara area, where anyone can enjoy climbing and hiking, and the other is the Nishi-Odaigahara area, where advance permission is required to enter the mountain. The Nishi-Odaigahara area is designated as a special protection area to preserve the natural environment, and the number of people entering the mountain is restricted. Nishi Odaigahara receives approximately 5,000 millimeters of annual rainfall, as much as that of Yakushima Island, and features virgin forests nurtured by the rain, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscape with its pristine vegetation. Wildlife and the Four Seasons on Mt. Odaigahara Photo:The Milky Way from Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is home to a large number of wild animals. In addition to the deer of Masakigahara, there are Japanese serows, foxes, tanuki (Japanese raccoon dogs), marten, and Japanese squirrels, as well as many wild birds, such as Eurasian jays and wrens, and great spotted woodpeckers. Mt. Odaigahara is also a popular photo spot because of its lush greenery, seas of clouds, and beautiful starry skies. If you're looking to take some Instagram photos, this is definitely a place to visit! In autumn, you can see the leaves turned beautiful shades of red and orange, and in the cold winter months, if you're lucky, you can see the local flora covered in rime. A Hiking Trip for Advanced Hikers Photo:Dogura Falls, Osugidani Valley, Mie Prefecture For advanced hikers looking for an adventure to discover the beauty that is Japan's nature, there's a course that will take you on a 10-mile hike from Osugidani Valley, an idyllic place of interest, to the breathtaking Mt. Odaigahara. This hike will take even the most advanced hikers at least 2 days to complete due to the terrain, but if you're up to the challenge and have the experience, it's well worth your time. During the hike, you'll pass Dogura Falls (堂倉滝), a waterfall with a 20-meter drop and a beautiful basin where you can relax and take a break while hiking, Nanatsugama Falls (七ツ釜滝), a unique, 7-tiered waterfall, and Shishi-buchi (シシ淵), a breathtaking canyon with a waterfall hidden at the back of sheer cliffs, and a myriad of other points of interest. As the hike will take 2-3 days to complete, you'll need to stay overnight at the rest stop Momonoki Yamanoie (桃の木山の家). The Ohsugidani Tozan Center has maps with detailed courses as well (including this one and other shorter tours), which we highly recommend checking out. ※For information on reservations, routes, and hiking conditions/seasons, please contact the Ohsugidani Tozan Center (大杉谷登山センター). ※Camping and campfires are strictly prohibited in the Mt. Odaigahara and Osugidani Valley area. ※Because weather in the area can change quickly, it's necessary to bring sufficient equipment for rainy conditions. ※If you have any doubts in your hiking abilities or you are unable to acquire the necessary information for a safe hike, we strongly suggest waiting until you are fully prepared. ※It's recommended that you bring a helmet, as there is a danger of falling rocks along the hiking trail. Summary of Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Photo:Osugidani Valley, Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is also a registered UNESCO Eco Park, and efforts are also being made to promote symbiosis between nature and people. When visiting Mt. Odaigahara, it's recommended that you use public transportation. If you take a bus departing from Yamato-Kamiichi Station, you can reach Mt. Odaigahara in about 2 hours. If you're driving, please note that the parking lot may be full during high seasons, such as autumn, when the leaves change color. Mt. Odaigahara, also known as the "Roof of the Kinki Region," is also famous as a summer retreat. A walking map of Higashi-Odaigahara is available for climbers and hikers as well. If you're looking to explore the beautiful outdoors of Japan, then consider a trip to Mt. Odaigahara. 【TripAdvisor】Mt. Odaigahara -

"In this 4K video, you can see the rare carpet of sea asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido, which is known as "Japan's best red carpet." Glasswort is a saltwater plant that grows in salt marshes that are subject to the ebb and flow of the tides. It is a salt-tolerant, edible plant that grows into a cylindrical shape 10 to 35 cm tall. As glasswort, an annual plant, grows, its flesh stores a large amount of salt, giving it a firm texture and salty taste. The leaves and stems are edible, and it is called sea asparagus because of its resemblance to asparagus, and is used in cooking in parts of Europe. Lake Saroma is the largest brackish lake in Japan and faces the sea, making it ideal the ideal environment for sea asparagus to grow. The Sea Asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido Photo:Sea asparagus Salicornia Europaea, this variety of sea asparagus, has been registered as an endangered species. Lake Noto in Abashiri, Hokkaido, is home to one of the largest colonies of sea asparagus in Japan, which is artificially cultivated with a tractor to suppress the growth of other halophytes (salt-tolerant plants). Lake Saroma, shown in the video, is one of the few areas where sea asparagus is cultivated. In Japanese the plant is often called "Sango-so" (サンゴ草: lit. "Coral grass") because its tips are red and resemble coral. You can see a close-up shot of the coral-like glasswort at 3:13 in the video. Tasting the Sea Asparagus Grown in Hokkaido's Lake Saroma Photo:Sea asparagus Sea asparagus is a plant that tastes salty when eaten raw, so it is commonly boiled and eaten as is. It is also delicious when added to pasta, stews, and other boiled dishes. In recent years, it has been distributed in supermarkets across Japan, so be sure to try it if you have the chance. It is rich in minerals and amino acids such as magnesium, which Japanese people tend to deficient in, and the extract of sea asparagus is so nutritious that it is used as an ingredient in many supplements. Summary of Sea Asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido Source :YouTube screenshot Lake Saroma in Hokkaido is part of the Abashiri Quasi-National Park, and is famous as an area that cranes fly over every year in early September when the autumn leaves begin to change color. You can see one of these cranes at 3:17 in the video. Sango-so Matsuri (能取湖さんご草祭り) a sea asparagus festival at Lake Saroma is held from early to mid-September, and a sightseeing bus called "Dollymint Okhotsk-go" (ドリーミントオホーツク号) operates there. As it is not a place with convenient access, many tourists visit by rental car, so be sure to research details on parking and other events in the area. 【TripAdvisor】Lake Saroma https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1120894-d1384194-Reviews-Lake_Saroma-Saroma_cho_Tokoro_gun_Hokkaido.html -

Yezo Sika Deer: Learn About the Magnificent Deer of Hokkaido's Snowy Notsuke Peninsula! All About Yezo Sika Deer and Their Problem as a Disruptive Species
Living Things Nature- 857 plays
- YouTube
Wild Yezo Sika Deer on the Notsuke Peninsula! In this video “Yezo Sika Deer on the Notsuke Peninsula(野付半島のエゾシカ)”, created by Shinji Kawamura, you can watch the wild Yezo sika deer, living in herds in the snow of the Notsuke Peninsula (野付半島, Notsuke Hanto), Hokkaido. The Yezo sika deer, which belong to the Cervidae family, is one of many subspecies of the sika deer (the Japanese deer), mainly living in the grasslands of Hokkaido. Its body is bigger than that of the Japanese deer; It is approximately 1.5 meters long and 1.1 meters high. As you can see in this video, the Yezo sika deer has large antlers, which are shed between April and May every year. Yezo sika deer are herbivorous animals, and they have unique high-pitched calls. The wild Yezo sika deer shown in this video are from herds living on the Notsuke Peninsula, Hokkaido. The Notsuke Peninsula is the biggest sand peninsula/sand spit in Japan; It is approximately 26 kilometers long, and located between Shiretoko Peninsula (知床半島, Shiretoko Hanto) and Nemuro Peninsula (根室半島, Nemuro Hanto). Many wild birds, animals, and insects live there. In December, when the grass dies, herds of Yezo sika deer move to their winter homes,- forests with more coniferous trees and less accumulated snow. From 0:55 in the video, you can see the Yezo sika deer living in herds in the snow. The Population of Wild Yezo Sika Deer Photo:Yezo Sika Deer The population of the Yezo sika deer once decreased dramatically due to hunting and deforestation in the early Meiji Period around 1868. However, after implementing measures to prohibit overhunting, the population has been increasing. Each deer eats a large amount of grass every day, so currently there are some problems regarding the damage of crops and forests, and the destruction of the environment. In addition, as its population has increased, more Yezo sika deer have been appearing in urban areas, which leads to problems of disruptive animals. From 1:33 in the video, you can hear sounds of cars driving in the background near a herd of Yezo sika deer. From the video, you can see that the Yezo sika deer lives very closely to humans. The "Yezo Deer Association" was founded in order to maintain a symbiotic relationship with the Yezo sika deer. Currently people take some measures to control the population of the Yezo sika deer, such as controlled hunting. The captured Yezo sika deer are used in venison dishes, for leather-working, deer fur products, antler products, and so on. Wild game meat dishes are very expensive in Europe, and venison is said to be healthy and has a unique flavor, so venison dishes are very popular. Venison is heated thoroughly and cooked into roasted meat or steak to avoid zoonotic diseases and food intoxication. Where to See the Wild Yezo Sika Deer Photo:Yezo Sika Deer on the Notsuke Peninsula The Notsuke Peninsula is an area where many wild animals have lived for a long time, even since the era of the Ainu (the native tribes of Hokkaido). It has multiple national forests and the Nationally Designated Special Wildlife Reserve. On the Notsuke Peninsula Nature Center, a hub for sightseeing, you can learn about the natural surroundings and the history of the Notsuke Peninsula. It also provides a wide range of tours, so you can join one of them and go around the Notsuke Peninsula. (The tours are a paid attraction and you must book ahead of time). We cannot guarantee that you can always see the Yezo sika deer as they are wild, but even if you cannot see the deer during the tour, you can still enjoy the wild of Hokkaido to your hearts content. Overview of the Yezo Sika Deer Introductory Video Source :YouTube screenshot The video we introduced this time showed Yezo sika deer living in herds in Hokkaido's wilderness. The video has many fun facts about the Yezo sika deer, such as characteristics of its antlers, the white furs of their hips, and its general habits, so be sure to take a look if you haven't yet! Since the altitude is not high and it is a gentle mountain trail, it is also a recommended route for beginners climbing and hiking. Introducing “Nishinoshima”: A Newly Formed Island in Japan! Check out the news video “New footage of research in Nishinoshima. Nishinoshima growing to the size of 60 Tokyo Domes!(西之島調査の最新映像 東京ドーム約60倍に成長中!)” publicized by FNN.jp Prime Online. Nishinoshima is a newborn desert island that was born in the 2013 undersea volcano eruption, swallowing up preexisting islands. In the area around Nishinoshima, which was previously an isolated island far off in the sea, seabirds and fish have settled down and created a new ecosystem. Please enjoy this amazing footage of the new, growing Japanese island. How Big Is Nishinoshima? Source : YouTube screenshot Nishinoshima is a desert island located in the Ogasawara Islands (小笠原諸島, Ogasawarashoto),and is located about 1000 kilometers from Tokyo and about 130 kilometers from Chichijima Island (父島, Chichijima). Currently, as you can see in the video from 2:08, its land mass is about 2.9 square kilometers (1.1 sq. mi.), 1000 times the size of the original island. Nishinoshima, created by a volcano in Japan, is expanding little by little due to cinder from the mouth of the volcano building up and then hardening due to the flow of magma. Nishinoshima's New Ecosystem Source :YouTube screenshot Nishinoshima, the newly formed island in Japan, is made of black rough walls of cooled, hardened lava. The ground surface is covered with andesitic lava flow, creating the landscape of a precipitous cliff. The Geographical Survey Institute (国土地理院, Kokudochiriin) has been visiting the island to research its mantle and magma composition. According to this research, the island has expanded since it was born in 2013, and its ecosystem is changing as well. The masked booby (アオツラカツオドリ, Aotsurakatsuodori), shown from 0:23 in the video, is thought to have inhabited Nishinoshima very recently. As you can see from 1:38, the boobies have been spotted laying eggs inside of the island. A new life, that of a baby bird, is being born on this island.
