Pros and Cons of Burner Pads - Camping and Outdoor Activities With a Single Burner
Things to Do Food & Drink- 119 plays
- YouTube
Single Burners for Camping in Japan Japan is experiencing a camping boom, and many campers opt for the easy-to-use single burners when camping. Let's take a look at a video to see what burner pads are and how, if at all, they can make your cooking experience better when enjoying the outdoors. Video Introduction: Single Burners and Burner Pads This video, titled "Should You Buy a Single Burner and Burner Pad Together?" (シングルバーナーとバーナーパッドは一緒に買うべき?), was uploaded by "HAMA." Different Types of Single Burners Photo:A single burner There are two types of single burners: unified and partitioned. The unified type has the burner and gas canister in one unit, making it compact and convenient for cooking for one person. With the partitioned type, the burner and gas can are separated, and the burner is more stable than the unified type, so it's recommended when using a large pot. In addition, there are two types of gas canisters: CB cans and OD cans. CB cans are often used in household gas stoves, and inexpensive ones can be purchased at 100-yen shops all across Japan. The video uses a unified single burner with easily accessible CB cans. The Pros of Using a Burner Pad With a Single Burner Photo:A burner pad In the video, Hama-san from Okinawa goes over whether or not you should use a burner pad with your single burner. As you probably already know, a single burner is a small gas stove that can start a fire. It's a piece of outdoor equipment that can easily be used to boil water and cook food when camping or enjoying other outdoor activities. However, using a single burner by itself has some disadvantages, such as not distributing heat well, resulting in burnt pots and pans, as well as being unstable when used with larger pans. This is where burner pads come in. The main feature of a burner pad is that it converts the flame into a more evenly distributed source of heat. This makes it possible to cook dishes like curry, which requires heat be increased gradually, without burning the food. [Video] 4:35 - Using a Burner Pad In the video, you can see how gyoza (Japanese dumplings) are cooked. By using the burner pad, the gyoza are evenly browned and look delicious! [Video] 12:45 - Cooking Gyoza Beware of Thermal Radiation When Using Burner Pads Photo:A single burner The burner pad used in the video is a burner pad by Uniflame, made with a stainless-steel frame and a special heat-resistant steel mesh. The burner pad distributes heat and allows the user to adjust the strength of the flame to suit their needs. However, it's recommended that you cook over low heat because the thermal radiation can damage utensils and also heat up the gas can. Thermal radiation can also occur when using larger cookware, such as frying pans. Although not shown in the video, there are heat shielding tables for single burners. Consider checking them out as well! Should You Buy a Burner Pad for Your Single Burner? Summary The burner pad, which more evenly distributes the heat of a single burner, expands the range of cooking recipes you can prepare. Some campers use single burners without a burner pad when boiling water and with a burner pad when cooking. The less burnt-on food, the easier it is to wash your cookware. If you're thinking about purchasing a burner pad, be sure to use this video/article as a reference! -

Keeping Your Camping Gear Clean After long periods of being used, cookers and other tools used when camping can get quite dirty. This time, we'll show you how to keep kettles and other cooking utensils that have turned black from direct heat clean. Video Introduction Photo:A burnt mess tin This video, titled "Camping Gear Maintenance by a Solo Male Camper in His 20s Who Camps Every Week" (週一でソロキャンプする20代男子ソロキャンパーによるキャンプ道具のお手入れルーティン), was released by "Japanese campers YURUHARU." It shows how to properly clean your camping gear. After enjoying some delicious cooking in the great outdoors, your cookware will inevitably start to feel some wear. If left as is, it may become unsanitary or break and become unusable. After you're finished camping, it’s important to clean your cookware properly. Cleaning Kettles and Other Camping Gear With Sodium Sesquicarbonate Source :YouTube screenshot Use sodium sesquicarbonate to remove dirt and burnt or dry oil that has stuck to your gear from cooking when camping. Check the instructions and dissolve the sodium sesquicarbonate in hot water. Soak the camping kettle or pyramid grill in the solution for 10 to 30 minutes, then polish it with a sponge. Persistent stains are easier to remove after soaking them in the solution. Once the stains are removed, your gear will be as shiny as clean as a whistle. [Video] 1:17- Cleaning camping gear with sodium sesquicarbonate Use a Polishing Agents for Aluminum, and Scrubbers for Skillets Source :YouTube screenshot Large aluminum mess tins that cannot be cleaned with sodium sesquicarbonate can be cleaned with polish and an abrasive sponge. Grills can be wiped clean and skillets can be cleaned with a scrubber to keep them clean and lasting longer. It's also important to check the batteries in electric lanterns and wipe down gasoline lanterns if you have any. [Video] 4:58 - Polishing with abrasives Caring for Wooden Tables Most noticeable stains can be sanded off using sandpaper. After that, drying oil is applied to complete the maintenance. How to Dry Camping Equipment Photo:Lunch at a campground After washing camping equipment, dry it thoroughly in a well-ventilated place after wiping it dry with an absorbent towel. Tents, sleeping bags, and blankets should also be dried in the shade, and stakes and stake hammers should be lightly cleaned and stored in their cases. Summary of How to Clean Your Camping Gear In this video, we introduced the basics of how to clean your camping gear. Since camping is enjoyed outdoors, weather and other factors can lead to your gear becoming quite dirty. Although it may be a bit tedious to clean, it's a good idea to clean and maintain your equipment after camping so that you can enjoy it comfortably on your next camping trip. The cleaning methods for cookers and other equipment vary depending on the material they're made from, so be sure to perform the appropriate maintenance according to the material, be it aluminum, titanium, etc. Camping gear is an important part of camping and so it's important to take care of it so that it can be used for a long time. -

Ehime Prefecture is one of the most prominent mountainous areas in Japan, and there are many terraced paddy fields on steep slopes. At sunset, you can see a stunning collaboration of ears of rice, the fresh green of the surrounding mountains and the reddish-brown sky, and you will be able to see the original landscape of Japan that was almost forgotten. At sunset, you can see a collaboration between the ears of rice and surrounding mountains as they blend in with the madder red sky to create a scenery of a Japan long forgotten. Taking a leisurely stroll along the riverside in Mitsu is a great way to cool off as well. Autumn Highlights - Autumn Leaves in the Namegawa Valley Photo:Namegawa Valley The fall of Matsuyama, where the sea and the mountains are close together. Autumn is a colorful season in Matsuyama. The sea and mountains are nearby, and the changing of the leaves makes for a wonderful sight. There are plenty of places to visit as well, such as Namegawa Valley, Karasaki Falls, Senba Valley, Touritani Pond, Shiraino Falls, and more. The red color of Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture is introduced at 1:47 in the video. Fall is also sports season! That being said, it's nice to go jogging while enjoying the autumn leaves at Toon City General Park. You can also experience the winter season with the entirety of Namegawa Valley covered in snow from 2:27. Enjoying the beauty of nature throughout the four seasons is one of the attractions of Matsuyama, Toon, and Tobe in Ehime Prefecture. Sightseeing Information for Tobe-Cho Tobe is known for its pottery and mandarin oranges. The vast orange fields in Tobe are introduced at 2:41 in the video. Tobe ware, a traditional Japanese craft and intangible cultural property, is a style of pottery with a history of more than 240 years. To this day, Tobe is still one of Japan's leading pottery towns. The workshop in Tobe, where you can experience pottery making, is a popular tourist spot, and there are plenty of souvenirs made using Tobe-cho's specialty oranges. Dining in Matsuyama Matsuyama City is also known as a fishing town, being home to both Matsuyama and Mitsuhama Ports. The red sea bream is particularly famous, so when you come to Matsuyama, we recommend trying out the famous sea bream rice near the hotels, historical sites, and Dogo Onsen. Summary of Sightseeing in Matsuyama Photo:Matsuyama city In this article, we introduced sightseeing spots in Matsuyama city, Toon city, and Tobe town in Ehime prefecture, and in the video, we're shown beautiful 8K images of them. Matsuyama City is a place where you can enjoy seafood and local cuisine with little rainfall throughout the year. There are many sightseeing spots besides Matsuyama Castle and Dogo Onsen too, so we recommend checking them out when you have time. Be sure to watch the video created by the "Municipal Tourism Cooperation Promotion Council" led by Matsuyama City. Yuihin, the Cute Giant Panda at Wakayama's Adventure World, Japan's Largest Breeder of Giant Pandas! A Look at the Endangered Giant Panda's Eating Habits and Little-Known Facts!

Giant Panda's at Adventure World – Check It Out in the Video! This video, titled "[Yuihin] Introducing a Panda at Adventure World (Saihin's Sister)" (【結浜(ゆいひん)】アドベンチャーワールドのパンダを紹介(彩浜のお姉さん)), was uploaded by "Orange Animal Channel" (オレンジ動物チャンネル). It introduces Yuihin, a giant panda at Adventure World in Wakayama Prefecture, as well as her eating habits and more. The giant panda is popular among visitors to the theme park for its cute appearance. In Japan, they can only be seen at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, Adventure World, and Kobe Oji Zoo in Kobe. When the babies are exhibited for the first time to the public, many people gather to see the cute and cuddly not-yet-giant pandas. Photo:A giant panda Featured in the video is Yuihin, a giant panda at Adventure World. Yuihin is a female giant panda born at Adventure World on September 18, 2016, and her name (結浜: 結 (Yui), meaning "connect") reflects her wish to "connect" the past and future, and to create a future that "connects" the various values of people around the world. Hin (浜 (also read as "hama"), meaning "shores"/"beach"), on the other hand, is taken from Shirahama, where Adventure World is located, and all giant pandas born at Adventure World have "浜" (hin) in their names. Yuihin's mother is "Rauhin" (良浜) and her father is "Eimei" (永明). In the video, it's explained that there are 8 brothers and sisters with the same parents (9 total if you include Yuihin), but after the video was made in 2019, "Fuhin" (楓浜) was born on November 22, 2020, so there are now a total of 10 siblings. Of the siblings, the four twins and Yuhin (優浜) (not to be mistaken for Yuihin (結浜)) have returned to China, so the females currently living at Adventure World are Ouhin (桜浜), Tohin (桃浜), Saihin (彩浜), Fuhin (楓浜), and Yuihin (結浜). The distinctive characteristic of Yuihin is the cowlick on top of her head, which is one of the things that makes her so cute. She is also very curious and tomboyish. You can see the introduction of Yuihin from 0:23 in the video. Eating Habits of the Giant Panda Shown in the Video Photo:A bamboo forest Giant pandas are known to eat mainly bamboo and bamboo grass. Although they are thought to be herbivorous animals, they are actually "omnivores" in the Carnivora order and Ursidae family. However, even in the wild, they eat very little meat, if any, primarily consuming bamboo and bamboo leaves from bamboo forests. The length of the giant panda's intestines is not as long as those of herbivores, and is closer to that of carnivorous animals. The reason they eat so little meat is thought to be due to the living environment of the giant panda. It is believed that giant pandas, whose habitat is deep in the mountains of China to avoid competition from outside forces, have come to eat bamboo and bamboo grass, which can be obtained stably even in winter, regardless of weather conditions. For that reason, they do not hibernate in winter as they have food available. Giant pandas, also known as simply "pandas," have a head and body length of 120-150 centimeters, with males weighing 100 kilograms and females 90 kilograms. Standing, the giant panda is approximately 170 centimeters tall. Giant pandas eat an average of 15 kg of bamboo and bamboo grass per day, so it costs a lot of money to secure a stable supply of food. In addition, since they are on loan from China, there are also rental fees, making it very expensive to raise them. Giant Pandas Facing Becoming an Endangered Species Photo:Giant pandas The giant panda is a mammal that is facing possible endangerment. Although the Washington Convention and the Chinese government are working to protect them, the population of giant pandas in the wild is estimated to be only about 1,600 worldwide. Adventure World is conducting breeding research using a "breeding loan program" to breed giant pandas, which are on the brink of becoming an endangered species. Currently, there are seven pandas living at Adventure World, making it the zoo with the largest number of pandas in Japan. Summary of Giant Panda's at Adventure World Photo:Adventure World, Wakayama Prefecture In this article, we introduced the giant panda, an animal popular for its large head and cute appearance. The video captures Yuihin eating her tasty bamboo grass. We hope you enjoy the video of the very cute giant panda Yuihin at Adventure World. 【Official Website】Adventure World https://www.aws-s.com/en/ 【TripAdvisor】Adventure World https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1121351-d1013894-Reviews-Adventure_World-Shirahama_cho_Nishimuro_gun_Wakayama_Prefecture_Kinki.html -

More About Tokashiki Island, Okinawa Photo:Tokashiki Island, Okinawa Tokashiki Island is an attractive island located roughly 40 kilometers west of Naha City (那覇市, Naha-Shi), Okinawa Prefecture. It takes only 35 minutes to get to via high-speed vessel and 75 minutes to get to via ferry from the city. The village of Tokashiki (渡嘉敷村, Tokashiki-Son), Shimajiri District (島尻郡, Shimajiri-Gun), consisting of ten islands within the Kerama Islands (慶良間諸島, Kerama-Shoto), is the largest of the islands, with a population of approximately 730 people. The waters of the Kerama Islands, known as the "Kerama Blue," are highly regarded both in Japan and abroad and are visited by 130,000 tourists and divers a year. In 2014, it was designated as Kerama Islands National Park. Tokashiki Island Has a Full Range of Marine Shops. Experience the "Kerama Blue" With a Personalized Plan! Photo:Diving, Okinawa One of the most popular leisure activities on Tokashiki Island is water sports. Tokashiki Island has a number of marine shops, and one of the best is called "SeaFriend." They offer a lot of options, like snorkeling for ages 6+, as well as advanced scuba diving to obtain a license. You can also enjoy banana boat rides during the summer. On top of that, SeaFriend also has accommodations for overnight stays. There are log-cabin type and guesthouse type buildings, and Wi-Fi services are available in both. The overnight stay and scuba diving plan is especially popular. Many guests come here alone to get their scuba diving certification. They're also happy to answer questions regarding diving points. Attractive Sights and Delicious Food on Tokashiki Island! Photo:Sea turtle We highly recommend exploring Tokashiki Island after scuba diving, as it's full of exciting tourist attractions. Tokashiki Port is known as the gateway to Tokashiki Island. Aharen Beach, a 10-minute bus ride from the port, is one of the most popular beaches on Tokashiki Island. The sunset viewed from the Aharen Observatory is a beautiful sight that will take your breath away. Hanari Island, near the beach, contributes to the spectacular view. Tokashiku Beach is also famous for its sea turtles. Since there is no bus service, we recommend a rental car. Mt. Akama, the highest point on Tokashiki Island, has the remains of a fire beacon used by the Ryukyu government as a means of communication during the Edo Period (1603-1868 A.D.). The summit has a great view of the surrounding islands, so we definitely recommend checking it out. And one more thing before I forget! The food on Tokashiki Island! "Kuinomiya Barakku" is a restaurant popular for its curry and Okinawan noodles. "Ryoshi-Shokudo Kanaloa" offers a specialty bowl of rice served with fresh fish and vegetables from Tokashiki Island. Both restaurants are perfect spots to relax after a long day of scuba diving. "Tuna Jerky" is a great souvenir to take back home. They say that sometimes the supply can't keep up with the demand because it's so popular! Summary of Tokashiki Island, Okinawa Photo:Tokashiki Island, Okinawa On Tokashiki Island, time flows slowly and it's a perfect spot for scuba diving. Shikoku and Kochi Prefecture - Famous for Yosakoi, Bonito and Sakamoto Ryoma? Photo:Statue of Sakamoto Ryoma This video, titled "The blessing of nature - Four Seasons PV - VISIT KOHCHI JAPAN," made by VISIT KOCHI JAPAN, introduces various seasonal tourist spots in Kochi. Kochi is in the southern part of Japan's Shikoku region, and has a warm and comfortable climate all year long. Kochi is famous as the birth place of Sakamoto Ryoma. Ryoma is a historical figure of the Tosa Domain who stopped a war from breaking out in Japan, at the end of the Edo Period (1853 to 1868), nearly 100 years ago. In this video, you can check out different recommended tourist spots in Kochi for each season. Let us known which season you want to visit Kochi in! Kochi's Spring Tourist Locations Photo:Cherry blossoms at Kochi Castle From 0:31 in the video, you can check Kochi’s tourist spots that are best visited during spring. When you say "spring" in Japan, the first thing that comes to mind is no doubt, cherry blossoms! Japan's most glorious season is spring, the season in which people go on 'hanami' (cherry blossom viewing) events and enjoy picnics under the blooming cherry blossoms. Kochi also has cherry blossom spots around Kochi castle. Nakagoshi Family's weeping cherry blossom introduced at 0:41 is the most famous hanami spot. You'll definitely feel refreshed after being out in all the greenery Kochi's spring has to offer. On top of cherry blossoms, food during Kochi's spring is all about bonito (鰹, katsuo). Katsuo comes into season in spring and fall, and the spring variation is called Hatsu-Katsuo. The most common way of eating katsuo is searing surface. This is referred to as called tataki (seared or minced). Kochi T-shirt art, where 1000's of T-shirts are aligned, is also a must-see spot in the spring. You can see what it looks like from 0:55 in the video. The video also introduces the 'Shimanto river carp streamer' (四万十川こいのぼりの川渡し, Shimanto gawa koinobori no kawawatashi) flying in the blue sky and 'going down the river' on a small ship. Kochi's Summer Tourist Locations Starting at 1:51 is the introduction of Kochi's summer tourist locations. Because Kochi is situated on the coast, surfing is also possible. It is actually a hidden surf spot with few inlets and high waves, facing the Pacific Ocean. As introduced from 1:24, you can enjoy rafting and hiking as well. The beautiful rice fields of Yoshinobu / Oishi and the five-storied pagoda are also introduced in the video. One of Kochi's most popular summer events is the dance festival. Shown from 1:59 is the Yosakoi festival, Kochi's representative event that is held every year on the 10th of August. Hosting nearly 1 million people over 4 days, it is one of the 3 biggest festivals in Shikoku. Kochi's Fall Tourist Locations Photo:The autumn leaves of Nakatsu Valley Introduced from 2:13are Kochi's fall tourist locations. If you visit Japan in the fall, you can't miss the chance to see the autumn foliage. The video shows many beautiful locations for viewing the reddening of the leaves in Kochi. The spot we recommend most is Nakatsu valley (中津渓谷, Nakatsu Keikoku). You can enjoy the beautifully flowing river that traverses the the valley's windy ravines. On the weekends you can enjoy the autumn leaves, lit up at Monet's Garden Marmottan(モネの庭マルモッタン, Monet no niwa marmottan) in Kitagawa. Fall in Kochi wouldn't be complete without yuzu. Kochi is the number 1 producer of yuzu in all of Japan! There are various types of Yuzu souvenirs in Kochi, so don't forget to take a look at them. The dance festival "Yosakoi" isn't the only popular event in Kochi! There's the Yasuhara Tsunoyama festival (梼原津野山神祭り, Yasuhara Tsunoyama matsuri) and the Mounted archery 'Yabusame'(流鏑馬, Yabusame)event in Toyo village shown from 2:47 of the video that are also popular during the fall. Kochi's Winter Tourist Locations At 2:59 we're introduced to Kochi's recommended tourist spots during the winter months. Winter in Kochi is very warm compared to other areas so it's great for sightseeing. There is no snow in the Southern region but towards the northern end you begin to see a little. The place we recommend most is Shikoku karst. As you can see from the video, you can sight-see in a fantastic atmosphere thanks to the snow during winter. You're sure to have a wonderful trip in Kochi, tasting the fresh winter seafood from Hirome market, enjoying the Akiha festival(秋葉まつり, Akiha matsuri)in Yodokawa, and warming up in the Matsubakawa (松葉川温泉, Matsubakawa onsen) or Konoka hotsprings (木の香温泉, Konoka onsen). Other Tourist Spots in Kochi Photo:Image of the Shikoku pilgrimage There are so many more things to do or see in Kochi, that are not included in the video, so here's a list! Find your favorite spot. Muroto misaki), Wanpark Kochi (わんぱーくこうち, Wanpa-ku kochi), Ashizuri Cape(足摺岬, Ashizuri misaki), Ashizuri Cape Observatory (足摺岬展望台, Ashizuri misaki tenboudai), Ryugado Cave (龍河洞, Ryugado), Godai Mountain (五台山, Godaisan), Sameura Dam (早明浦ダム, Sameura Damu), Kashiwa Island (柏島, Kashiwajima ), Tengu Highlands (天狗高原, Tengu Kougen), Todoroki Waterfall (轟の滝, Todorokinotaki), Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine (若宮八幡宮, Wakamiya Hachimangu), Dainichi Temple (大日寺, Dainichi ji), Kokubun Temple (国分寺, Kokubun ji), Harimaya Bridge (はりまや橋, Hariyama bashi), Makino Botanical Garden (牧野植物園, Makino shokubutsu en), Nishijima Horticulture Park (西島園芸団地, Nishijima engei danchi), Culture plaza Cul-port (かるぽーと, karupo-to), Yutorisuto Park Otoyo (ゆとりすとパークおおとよ, Yutorisuto pa-ku ootoyo), Sunahama Museum (砂浜美術館, Sunahama Museum)... and more!
