Introducing the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride! This video, titled “Beautiful Kyoto: Hozugawa River Boat Ride (Hozugawa Kudari) [4K],” is an introductory video about the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride, created by Discover Kyoto. Many people go sightseeing in Kyoto to see the rich history and culture and to experience the Japanese atmosphere. If you want to truly enjoy the nature of the surrounding area, we recommend trying the Hozugawa River Boat Ride in Arashiyama! But first, sit back, relax, and enjoy the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride. The Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride Photo:Boatman going down Hozu River The Sagano (嵯峨野, Sagano) / Arashiyama area is one of the most popular tourist sights in Kyoto. On the scenic Hozu River that flows through Arashiyama, you can experience an amazing boat ride. The Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride started about 400 years ago, when the waterway was made by cutting down the valley of the Hozu River, to transport supplies from Tanba (丹波, Tanba) to Kyoto. In Saga Arashiyama, near the end of the Kyoto Kameoka/Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride, lays Daihikaku Senkouji Temple, which was built to mourn for the spirits of victims of the excavation work at the time. The Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride starts from the Shin-Hozu Ohashi Bridge area in Kameoka City (亀岡市, Kameoka-shi). The journey is about 16 km long and lasts until the Arashiyama wharf shown in 2:12 in the video. The boat does not have an engine. Instead, each boatman uses a single rod instead of an oar to navigate the river with ease. For your own safety, passengers are required to wear life jackets when boarding. Please note that there is no restroom on the boat. The Beauty of the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride! Photo:The Sagano Romantic Train There are scenic spots, such as the suspension bridge at Hozukyo and the Red Rocks of Ose that are in the middle of the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride. These are great for Instagram, so get your cameras ready! Be sure to take a photo of the amazing sightseeing train "The Sagano Romantic Train," shown at 1:18 in the video. It's a good idea to have a blanket or something to protect you from the splashing of waves in areas with rapids such as Koyayu Falls. We also recommend trying some oden that's made and can be purchased on the boat; This can be seen at 1:48 in the video. Tips to Enjoy Your Boat Ride! Photo:Oi River and Houseboat in Arashiyama, Kyoto To fully enjoy the scenery of Kyoto Arashiyama, purchase a set ticket that includes The Sagano Romantic Train and the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride. It's also convenient to use the ticket that includes both the Keihan-Kyoto Bus and the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride. There are some package tours and plans for hotels that come with the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride as well. You can also experience rafting in the Hozu River valley. Taking a horse-drawn carriage to get to the boarding area for the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride will make for an unforgettable experience. Summery of the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride! This video introduces the Kyoto Kameoka / Arashiyama Hozugawa River Boat Ride amongst the beautiful autumn leaves. In spring, you can enjoy a boat trip surrounded by beautiful cherry blossoms, and in summer, you can enjoy cooling off in a yukata. Also, please make sure you make a reservation in advance as it an be crowded during cherry blossom season and during the changing of the leaves in the fall. Every October, the “Hozu Fire Festival,” an annual festival of "Ukeda Shrine" and "Hachimangu Shrine," is held. A Heart-Warming Video Showing the Highlights of Hirayu Onsen Today we are showing you '平湯温泉PRムービー フルバージョン 5分21秒'. This promotional video shows you Hirayu Hot Spring located in the Okuhida hot springs area in Takayama City, in snowy Gifu Prefecture. In the video, Yuyu, the mascot of the local Tourist Association, will show you around all the top spots. Yuyu falls in love with a beautiful woman in the video (at 1:30). Let’s learn about sightseeing at Hirayu hot springs, while following what happens to Yuyu’s love! Hirayu Onsen: A White Monkey Showed Takeda's Army Where It Was? Find Out the Secret History of Hirayu Onsen! Source :YouTube screenshot The Okuhida Hot Springs area of Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture is famous in Japan for its plentiful snow. This hot spring area consists of the Fukuji Hot Springs, Shinhirayu Hot Springs, Tochio Hot Springs, Shinhodaka Hot Springs and the Hirayu Hot Spring, the oldest hot spring in Okuhida. Hirayu Onsen was established in the Age of Civil War called the Sengoku Period (1467~1615). They say that the hot spring was found when a white monkey showed the exhausted Takeda Army where the hot spring was. Takeda's men recovered immediately after getting into the hot spring. Following that, Hirayu Onsen was developed into a therapeutic spa. The spring is said to be effective at treating intestinal diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, nerve pain and skin disease. Having said that, the Okuhida Hot Spring area in Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture is surrounded by mountains and it used to be referred to as a "hidden world." A tunnel connecting Nagano Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture has opened in recent years, and access to the area has improved dramatically. As seen from 1:17 in the video, many coach buses from large Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya arrive at Hirayu Onsen bus terminal. The bus routes are operated by the Nohi Bus, the local bus company covering most of the Hirayu Onsen area. This area is in a convenient location, as you can visit secret hot springs, camp sites and famous Japanese tourist spots such as Matsumoto and Kamikochi. Delicious Local Delicacies! Check Out the Delicious Foods Served in the Many Inns Shown Throughout the Video Photo:Hoba Miso Making a good choice of Onsen and meals is rather important when choosing a hotel or ryokan, is it not? Please have a look at 2:36 in the video. It shows unusual, delicious Japanese foods from the Hirayu Onsen area such as softshell turtle hot pot, onsen soft-boiled eggs, and pickled steaks. In particular, Hoba Miso is a very famous Japanese food in the Okuhida Hot Springs area in Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture. It is often included in the accommodation package of ryokan inns. We'd like to recommend Nakamurakan and Okada Ryokan for those who are particular about Onsen quality and want to fully enjoy the interior of a ryokan. The rotenburo (open air bath) at Nakamurakan uses hot spring water straight from the source and you can refresh your mind and body. You can see inside Okada Ryokan using Google maps street view as well if you're interested. Even if you don't stay at one of these inns, you can still use their onsen facilities with a day pass as well! Tourist Hot Spots at Hirayu Onsen, Japan’s No. 1 Onsen Photo:Asian Black bear There are many beautiful tourist hot spots and attractions besides Onsen Ryokan and hotels at Hirayu Onsen in Okuhida Hot Springs. Here, we'll tell you about popular tourist attractions around Hirayu Onsen. Okuhida Bear Ranch (奥飛騨クマ牧場 Okuhida Kuma Bokujo) shown in the video from 3:04 keep the largest number of Asian Black Bear (ツキノワグマ Tsukinowaguma) in Japan. We recommend the Bear Fat (熊の油 Kumanoyu) souvenir. It has been used as a medicine by hunters in the Okuhida Hot Springs area for many years and is effective for skin problems. Next up is the Shinhotaka Ropeway There is a ropeway near Hirayu Onsen in Okuhida Hot Springs, Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture. It is the only double-decker ropeway in Japan. It is also famous for its magnificent views of autumn leaves. Its viewpoint has an elevation of 2,156 meters. The superb views of the Northern Japanese Alps from the viewpoint make for amazing photos! Share them on your Instagram or keep them for scrap-booking! Sightseeing Around Hirayu Onsen Around Hirayu Onsen, there are many more sightseeing places that aren't included in the video. They are: Hirayu Great Falls (平湯大滝 Hirayu Ootaki), Alps Highway Hirayu (アルプス街道平湯 Arupusu Kaido Hirayu) , Hirayu History Museum (平湯民俗館 Hirayu Minzokukan) , Hirayu Shrine (平湯神社 Hirayu Jinja), Mt. Yakedake (焼岳 Yakedake), Kamikochi (上高地), Mt. Norikura (乗鞍岳 Norikuradake), Goshikigahara (五色ヶ原), Shirakawago (白川郷), Hidatakayama(飛騨高山), Hida Great Limestone Cave (飛騨大鍾乳洞 Hida Daishounyudo) and Hirayu Campsite (平湯キャンプ場 Hirayu Campujo). We recommend giving these places a visit if you're planning on coming to Hirayu Onsen. There are other activities that you can try to enjoy the beautiful nature of the Hirayu Onsen area, such as Rail Mountain Bike and the Hirayu Onsen Ski Resort. While you are sightseeing, don’t forget to try the delicious local foods such, as Hida Beef (飛騨牛 Hidagyu), Hida Pork (飛騨ポーク Hida Pork) and onsen soft-boiled Egg (温泉卵 Onsen Tamago). Esashi, Famous for Herring Fishing, Was the First Town in Hokkaido to Be Recognized as a Japan Heritage. In the Edo Period the Town Was Bustling With Commerce!
Local PR Food & Drink Festivals & Events- 128 plays
- YouTube
About Esashi, a "Japan Heritage" "Esashi, Sightseeing Promotional Video, Japan Heritage" (北海道江差町 観光PR動画(日本遺産)), is a video created by the "Esashi Municipal Department of Tourism." Esashi, in the Hiyama District of Hokkaido, is the first place to be registered as a Japan Heritage in Hokkaido, and is also a place of scenic beauty. It sits on the coast of the Sea of Japan, with a population of 7,561. (2019, May). It's said that Esashi is the origin of Hokkaido's culture and thrived thanks to it's herring fishing during the Edo Period. In 2014, the mayor of Esashi became the youngest mayor in Japan at just 29 years of age. In this video, the attractions of Esashi are packed into just 3 minutes of footage. Enjoy the nature and history of Esashi, Hokkaido. What Are "Esashi Herring"? Source :YouTube screenshot Esashi is surrounded by the ocean, and in the Edo period (1603-1867) it was a place where herring fishing was going through a boom. This is explained at 0:26 in the video. At the time, herring was a good fertilizer. Esashi was busy, especially in May, because herring was a seasonal fish in May and many ships from Edo (Tokyo) and Osaka, came to fish for them. Because of this, the popular phrase "Even Edo is not as busy as Esashi in May" was coined. Many of the leftover goods remain in the storehouses of merchants from the time, demonstrating their prosperity and showing just how successful the business was. Even now, herring soba is popular as a local dish in Esashi. Check out the video at 0:51 to see the merchant's warehouses. Tourist Attractions in Esashi! Source :YouTube screenshot There's Kamamome Island where ships called "Kitamaebune" docked during the herring fishing season, Itsukushima Shrine (厳島神社, Itsukushima jinjya), where sailors prayed for safety at sea, and the strangely shaped Heishi Rock (瓶子岩, Heishiiwa). There's a legend of Heishi Rock, that says when the sailors couldn’t catch any herring and were facing starvation, they poured divine water into the sea causing a swarm of herring to appear. Since then, every July a ceremony is held where they replace the "Shimenawa" (a rope used to cordon off consecrated areas or as a talisman against evil) at Heishi Rock. This can be seen at 1:27 in the video. The Ubagami Grand Shrine (姥神大神宮, Ubagami Daijingu) which overlooks the port of Esashi, is famous for its summer festival, the Ubagami Grand Shrine Togyo Festival, which is said to be the oldest festival in Hokkaido. From 2:01, the festival song "Esashi Oiwake," which has been passed down since the Edo Period, can be seen being performed. It has a nostalgic melody reminiscent of Edo and because of that, it's said that "Esashi Oiwake" is the king of folk songs. The herring fishing song "Soran Bushi" and "Hokkai Bonuta" also represent the culture of Hokkaido. We recommend visiting Esashi during the summer festival where you can check out the big floats and the Ohayashi band. Recommended Tourist Attractions Photo:Esashi Inishie Kaido Street There are many historic places and buildings that remain in Esashi, such as shrines, temples and houses. Walking down Inishie Kaido Street, next to the ocean, will take you to those historic places. For example, The Former Nakamura Family Merchant House, Yokoyama House, and the Esashi Town Historical Museum are all attractive spots that retain a good old-fashioned Japanese atmosphere. Visiting Esashicho Bunka Hall, Esashi Town Meeting Hall, Esashi Oiwake/Yama Museum, and the Esashi Town Historical Museum to learn about the history is another great way to enjoy oneself. The Kaiyo Maru from Netherlands can be seen near Kamome Island. It was a battleship of the Shogunate's navy at the end of the Edo Period. (About 1860) You also get a great view, surrounded by the ocean waves, when the weather is nice. Don't forget your camera! Summary of Esashi Photo:A school of fish As you can see in the video, Esashi, Hokkaido is a fishing town with many and festivals and historic places left over from the old days of Japan. Enjoy seeing the attractions of Hokkaido through the video. At 2:36, we learn that, in 2017, a school of herring were seen for the first time in 104 years in Esashi, and a new light began to shine on Esashi once again. Esashi is a sort of hole-in-the-wall destination in Hokkaido, but has easy access from Hakodate by train or bus. If you're headed this way, we recommend checking out Hakodate as well! Also, if Esashi interests you, check out the local products of Hometown Tax Donation Program. There are attractive local products like queen crab and gasa shrimp. 【Official website】Esashi Town hall homepage https://www.hokkaido-esashi.jp/ 【Trip Advisor】Esashi https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g1120309-Esashi_cho_Hiyama_gun_Hokkaido-Vacations.html -

A Guide to Izakaya in Japan: Video Introduction 日本にっぽんの居酒屋いざかやの解説動画かいせつどうが紹介しょうかい This video, titled "IZAKAYA TIPS! 5 minutes 42 seconds|Suntory" (IZAKAYA TIPS!! 5分42秒 サントリー), was uploaded by "Suntory Official Channel" (サントリー公式チャンネル (SUNTORY)). Izakaya in Japan and Japanese Bar Culture Photo:Kanpai at an izakaya(写真しゃしん:居酒屋いざかやで乾杯かんぱい) An izakaya (居酒屋) is a Japanese-style bar that serves alcoholic beverages and food. While bars and pubs are Western-style establishments and serve mainly Western-style alcoholic beverages, izakaya offer a greater variety and quantity of food than bars and pubs. Unlike bars, izakaya are often used for parties/large groups of people. They are also generally less formal than restaurants. [Video] 0:16 - What are Izakaya? Entering and Ordering at Izakaya in Japan 日本にほんの居酒屋いざかや~入店にゅうてんから注文ちゅうもんまで~ Photo:A waitress pouring a beer(写真しゃしん:生ビールなまびーるを注そそぐ女性店員じょせいてんいん) When you enter an izakaya they'll likely greet you with the standard "irasshaimase!" (いらっしゃいませ!), or the shorter version "irasshai!" Both of these mean "Welcome!" and are the typical greeting you'll hear at restaurants and stores across Japan. After being seated at a table, the staff will likely bring oshibori (おしぼり) to your table. Oshibori are wet towels that are used to wipe one's hands before eating. You may see people wiping their faces or tables with oshibori, but keep in mind that this can be considered rude in some cases, so it might be best to avoid doing it. After you've been seated and your oshibori has been brought to the table, the next thing to do is order your first dish. At izakaya in Japan, it's common for everyone to order a simple beer, as they're all the same and can be served relatively quickly. The stock phrase for this is "Toriaezu nama" (とりあえず生) which means "For now, I'll take a draft beer." Having said that, if you don't like beer, you can just order something else. [Video] 1:20 - Ordering Your First Drink at an Izakaya in Japan 【動画どうが】1:20~ 日本にほんの居酒屋いざかやで初はじめての飲のみ物ものの注文ちゅうもん After you've ordered you're first drink or dish, you'll be served an otoshi (お通し). Otoshi are small appetizers served at izakaya and often include a variety of vegetables and sometimes meat, or they can be as simple as edamame. These cost several hundred yen as they are served in place of a cover charge, and cannot be refused. Unfortunately, you can't choose what your otoshi is, so if you're a picky eater or have allergies, you may not be able to eat them at all. Ordering at an Izakaya in Japan Photo:A woman calling a server(写真しゃしん:店員てんいんを呼よぶ女性じょせい) After you've received your beer and otoshi, and you're ready to order, you'll need to call the server over to your table. In Japan the server generally won't come to your table to check how the meal is or to ask if you want to order something. Instead, you'll call them over to the table when you want to order something. This can be done by calling out "sumimasen!" (すみません), which means "Excuse me!" in Japanese. As the video mentions, this is never considered rude and is the proper way to order at an izakaya and most restaurants in Japan. [Video] 2:36 - Calling the Server at an Izakaya in Japan 【動画どうが】2:36~ 居酒屋いざかやで店員てんいんさんを呼よぶ様子ようす If you're not a picky eater and are feeling adventurous, you can always ask the server for their recommendation as well. The phrase for this is "Osusume wa?" You don't have to know what they're saying, just give a simple "Okay," and you should have no problems ordering. Another tip to keep in mind when ordering, is to point at the pictures on the menu. This will make it much easier to order. If there aren't any pictures, the Google Translate app's real time translation feature is super useful, so definitely give it a try! [Video] 3:40 - Asking the Staff for a Recommendation 【動画どうが】3:40~ 店員てんいんさんにおすすめを聞きく様子ようす Izakaya Food – Menu Items, Courses, and Prices at Izakaya in Japan 日本にほんの居酒屋いざかやでの注文ちゅうもん方法ほうほう Photo:An izakaya party menu(写真しゃしん:居酒屋いざかやの宴会メニューえんかいめにゅー) Japan's izakaya often serve a wide variety of dishes. You can often find small dishes using a variety of vegetables, sashimi platters, and things like karaage (Japanese fried chicken), yakitori (chicken skewers), takoyaki (fried balls of batter with octopus), and gyoza (pot stickers), as well as larger dishes like seafood bowls and even ramen. Besides the individual dishes and drinks, most izakaya in Japan offer a "tabehoudai" (食べ放題, all you can eat) or "nomihoudai" (飲み放題, all you can drink) course as well. Both courses are structured roughly the same. They usually last 90-120 minutes and allow you to choose most things on the menu. If you order something that isn't included in the course, it will be added onto your bill. The server will generally explain what you can and cannot order with the courses. The prices for these courses vary by izakaya, but both tabehoudai and nomihoudai generally cost somewhere around ¥2,000-¥3,000+. Some izakaya even offer a "tabe-nomihoudai" (食べ飲み放題) course which combines them into an "all-you-can-eat-and-drink" course. You can expect this to cost around ¥4,000-¥5,000+. Something to keep in mind when ordering these courses is that, in general, if one person orders it, everyone has to order it. This is to prevent one person from getting the course and sharing their food or drinks with everybody else. There are some places that don't require everyone to order the course, but these restaurants are not common. Paying the Bill at an Izakaya in Japan Photo:Staff taking payment at a table(写真しゃしん:席せきで会計かいけいをする居酒屋店員いざかやてんいん) When paying your bill at an izakaya in Japan, just like when ordering, it's commonplace to call the staff over with "sumimasen!" The easiest phrase for telling the server you want to pay your bill is "okaikei onegaishimasu" (お会計お願いします, Check, please). If you say this, they'll have the bill at your table in no time. You'll either pay the bill at your table and the staff will bring you your change, or you bring the bill to the register to pay. Every izakaya is different. Another important thing to note when paying at izakaya is that most places will not allow you to split the bill. This is because it's not clear who ate what sometimes, and if there's a large group of people it can take a lot of time to pay. To avoid these problems, most izakaya require that groups pay together. Tokyo? Kyoto? Where to Find Izakaya in Japan Photo:Ponto-cho, Kyoto(写真しゃしん:京都きょうと・先斗町ぽんとちょう) Now that you're interested in izakaya, you're probably wondering where they actually are. From the big cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka to the smallest towns in Japan, izakaya can be found everywhere! If you look up "Izakaya" on google maps, you can find lots of izakaya wherever you are. Google maps is also a great way to find restaurants and tourist attractions in the area. Different Types of Izakaya in Japan 日本にほんの居酒屋いざかやの種類しゅるい Photo:Oden(写真しゃしん:おでん) When it comes to izakaya, there are actually quite a lot of different varieties in Japan. Some of the most popular izakaya in Japan are oden, hot pot, and yakitori. Oden izakaya serve mainly oden, a type of a type of hot pot dish that often uses ingredients like chikuwa, konjac, daikon, eggs, etc. Hot pot izakaya serve mostly boiled dishes that you cook at your own pace while eating. Yakitori izakaya focus on grilled chicken skewers that the chef usually cooks over a charcoal grill over the counter. Thus, there are many izakaya that focus on a specific dish. Summary of Izakaya in Japan This was our introduction to Japan's izakaya culture. Be sure to reference it when you visit an izakaya in Japan. Besides standard izakaya, there are many different types that specialize in a specific menu item. Trying different izakaya and ordering all sorts of different foods and drinks is one of the best things about them. Izakaya can be found all across Japan and are best enjoyed with friends, but you can also enjoy them alone as well!
