Autumn Leaves at Enkoji Temple, Kyoto: Video Introduction This video, titled "[4K] 2021 Autumn Leaves and Suikinkutsu at Enkoji Temple, Kyoto" (【4K】2021圓光寺の紅葉と水琴窟 Autumn leaves of Kyoto Enkoji Temple), was uploaded by "fuppomadoka1962." Enjoy the 4K video that will have you feeling like you're actually walking through the garden of Enkoji Temple, and experience the autumn leaves dancing in the light to the faint sound of a suikinkutsu. Highlights of Enkoji Temple in Northern Kyoto Photo:Autumn leaves at Enkoji Temple, Kyoto The reason for the overwhelmingly beautiful autumn leaves at Enkoji Temple is its location. Located in the northern part of Kyoto City, Enkoji Temple is characterized by colorful autumn leaves every year due to the extreme temperature differences between the four seasons. The highlight of Enkoji Temple's autumn foliage is the garden Jugyu no Niwa (十牛の庭, lit. "The Garden of Ten Oxen"), where visitors can view the leaves from various vantage points. [Video] 0:50 - The Beautiful Garden Jugyu no Niwa [Video] 1:30 - Jugyu no Niwa Seen From the Exhibit Hall Photo:The chozubachi at Enkoji Temple, Kyoto A suikinkutsu is a Japanese garden ornament that makes a lovely sound. The suikinkutsu in the garden of Enkoji Temple is made of a wide-rimmed chozubachi (手水鉢, water bowl), a shape not seen anywhere else, and has been cherished by hobbyists as the "Enkoji style" since ancient times. The vivid autumn leaves on the surface of the water sway in the wind, making it a popular scene for photographers and instagrammers. After snapping some photos of the beautiful autumn leaves, visitors can enjoy listening to the sound of the suikinkutsu. The sound of water dripping into the hollow of the pot, which is embedded in the ground, is similar to the sound of a koto (the Japanese harp), and it resonates in the hearts of those who hear it. [Video] 3:30 - The Faint Sound of the Suikinkutsu The history of Enkoji Temple dates back to 1601, when the famous warlord Tokugawa Ieyasu built Enkoji Temple in Fushimi and turned it into a school to promote education and learning in Japan. The temple also exhibits some of the oldest wooden typefaces in Japan (an Important Cultural Property), and has a history tracing back to the origins of printing in Japan. From the hilltop of the Toshogu Shrine on top of the mountain, visitors can enjoy the view of Arashiyama and Kitayama, and at dusk, the golden hour envelops the whole area, offering a spectacular view that changes with every passing moment. Enkoji Temple is also home to a bamboo forest path, which is said to have been frequented by Maruyama Okyo, a Japanese painter active in Kyoto during Japan's Edo period (1603-1868 AD). His painting "Bamboo in Wind and Rain" (an Important Cultural Property) is also on display at the temple. Reservations and When to View the Autumn Leaves at Enkoji Temple Photo:Autumn leaves at Enkoji Temple, Kyoto In recent years, special viewing of autumn leaves at Enkoji Temple has been reserved for a designated date and time to avoid congestion. For reservations and details regarding reservation start times, viewing periods, times, and viewing fees, please check the advance reservation page on the official website. The best time to view the autumn leaves is usually from mid-November to early December, although times may vary slightly due to climate change and temperature fluctuations over the past few years. The Jizo statues, which can be seen as soon as you enter Jugyu no Niwa, are also popular. During the autumn foliage season, the Jizo statues standing on a carpet of autumn leaves is great for taking photos and attracts many instagrammers. "Early morning viewing" is popular among people who want to avoid crowds during the peak season of autumn leaves, which can be visited before normal viewing hours on certain days when autumn leaves are at their best.In 2023, only the first 40 people applied. If you want to enjoy the autumn leaves in a quiet time from eight o'clock in the morning, please check the official website in advance next year. Autumn Foliage Spots Around Enkoji Temple in Northern Kyoto Photo:Autumn leaves at Shisendo, Kyoto The area around Enkoji Temple, in northern Kyoto, is home to many places for enjoying the autumn leaves, as well as popular tourist attractions. Many visitors to Enkoji Temple visit Shisendo, another Buddhist temple, where they are able to escape from their frantic daily lives and enjoy a moment of tranquility. At Sanzenin Temple, a representative temple of Ohara, visitors can enjoy a spectacular collaboration between the green mosses and crimson maple leaves. In addition, Manjuin Temple, the Kibune Foliage Lantern Festival (貴船もみじ灯篭, Kibune Momiji Toro), and Hosen'in Temple have gained popularity in recent years as spots where visitors can enjoy the illuminated autumn leaves. Located on Awaji Island (淡路島, Awaji-shima), Hyogo Prefectural Park's Awaji Hanasajiki is a famed flower spot, befitting of the island of flowers. Hyogo Prefecture has been running the park since April, 1998. You can see the rape blossom meadow in full bloom in the video. Rape blossoms herald the arrival of spring in Japan, and the sight of them swaying in the wind makes it almost reminiscent of a friendly face saying hello. Take a visit with your special someone or family, and take some memorable photos together. It's a great spot for taking Instagram photos as well! Attractions of Awaji Hanasajiki, a Flower Park on Awaji Island Photo:Rape blossom fields at Awaji Hanasajiki, Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture Awaji Hanasajiki is known as a great place to see flowers, and is located at the highest point of Awaji Island's hilly north, at an elevation of between 235 and 298 meters. The plateau, which slopes gently toward the sea covers around 37 acres, or around the same area as four Koshien Stadiums (Japan's most famous baseball ground). Awaji Hanasajiki has been christened as the ultimate place to enjoy gorgeous carpets of flowers. There's even a parking lot with space for 200 cars, at the price of 200 yen for a full-sized vehicle. We recommend the vast observation desk; a wooden deck from which you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. What's more, you can see how far along the flowers have bloomed on the official website via a camera set up in Awaji Hanasajiki's café/restaurant "Galleri." Be sure to check it out before you visit! Shirakoma Pond in Nagano Prefecture is known for its beautiful autumn foliage. The reflection of the colorful trees on the surface of the lake is so beautiful you'd only expect to see it in a painting. Shirakoma Pond is blessed with abundant nature, and is a popular location for hiking as well. The pond is a popular tourist spot that attracts many visitors throughout the year because of its wonderful scenery that changes with the seasons, especially during autumn. Enjoy the beautiful contrast of between the green, yellow, and fiery red autumn leaves reflected on the mirror-like surface of the lake in this 2-minute long 4K video. Where is Shirakoma Pond? Location of the Pond in Nagano Famous for Its Autumn Leaves Photo:Shirakoma Pond from Takami-ishi, Nagano Prefecture Shirakoma Pond is located in the eastern part of Nagano Prefecture, on the border between the towns of Koumi and Sakuho. Located on the Yachiho Highland (Yachiho Kogen) at an elevation of 2,115m (~6,900 ft), Shirakoma Pond is the highest and largest natural lake in Japan. The pond is also known for its extremely high transparency, allowing visitors to see as deep as 5.8 meters below the surface. Shirakoma Pond is easily accessible despite its location on the Yachiho Highland. With a well-maintained promenade, it's becoming a popular tourist attraction. When to See Autumn Leaves at Shirakoma Pond – Best Season and Photo Spots Photo:Autumn leaves at Shirakoma Pond, Nagano Prefecture The area surrounding Shirakoma Pond is known as one of Japan's three largest virgin forests, and during autumn, when the leaves change color, the virgin forest, filled with azaleas, birch trees, and maples, changes color to brilliant shades of red and yellow. Every year, the area is crowded with tourists who come to view the autumn foliage. If you're planning to visit Shirakoma Pond, autumn is definitely the best season to come so you can see the beauty of the autumn leaves. In the high elevation areas of Japan's Chubu region, the best time to view the autumn leaves is from late September at the earliest, and from early October on an average year. Since the forecast for autumn leaves at elevations above 2,000m is said to be largely unchanged, the best time to view the autumn foliage at Shirakoma Pond in 2023 is expected to be from late September to mid-October. During autumn, when the leaves are in season, Shirakoma Pond is crowded tourists. If you're looking to take photos, there are two great spots in front of the mountain lodges "Shirakoma-so" (白駒荘) and "Seitai-so" (青苔荘) that overlook the lakeside area. The two lodges, situated on opposite sides of Shirakoma Pond, are well known for their sunrises and sunsets which can be photographed together with the pond in the foreground. Hiking at Shirakoma Pond! Photo:The moss forest around Shirakoma Pond, Nagano Prefecture There are several hiking trails around Shirakoma Pond that can be enjoyed even by beginner hikers. We recommend the route from Shirakoma Pond (白駒池) to Takami-ishi (高見石), which has a minimal elevation change and can be easily hiked. The hike takes about 2 hours and departs from the Shirakoma Pond parking lot. The hike proceeds along a trail on which hikers can admire the beautiful mosses growing in the area. Once you reach a fork in the road, head toward Takami-ishi Lodge (高見石小屋). After hiking up behind Takami-ishi Lodge, you'll arrive at Takami-ishi. From Takami-ishi, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Japan's Northern and Central Alps and Shirakoma Pond. After admiring the view, descend from Takami-ishi toward Shirakoma Pond. Follow the boardwalk circling the mystical Shirakoma Pond before returning to the parking lot to end the hike. Although the trail around Shirakoma Pond is well maintained, it becomes slippery when it rains. When visiting Takami-ishi, a series of rock formations, in particular, extreme care should be taken to avoid injury or accidents. Please be prepared to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes that are easy to move in, and check the weather before you go out. Additionally, because the area around Shirakoma Pond is mountainous, temperatures can vary greatly. Please bring warm clothes to adjust for the temperature changes. After enjoying hiking in the magnificent nature of Nagano, we recommend taking a breather at one of the hot spring resorts in the area. The Shirakoma Pond area is dotted with facilities where you can enjoy hot springs and take in the beautiful scenery. It's a great way to relax after a nice day of hiking. Camping at Shirakoma Pond Photo:The tent campsite at Takami-ishi Lodge, Nagano Prefecture In addition to hiking and viewing the autumn leaves at Shirakoma Pond, there are also a few locations where you can enjoy camping. Seitai-so Seitai-so, the mountain lodge mentioned earlier, has a tent site located right next to it where you can set up a tent right by the lake. The tent site is available year-round and you can even enjoy a beautiful starry sky with a view of the pond frozen over in the winter. Keep in mind that the tent site is reservation only and all garbage must be taken with you when you leave. Lodge Hours: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. ※Hours may vary by season. Fee: The tent site is free of charge. General lodging starts at 5,500 yen/person for adults. Takami-ishi Another campsite is the Takami-ishi Tent Site, located beside Takami-ishi Lodge. Unlike the tent site at Seitai-so, Takami-ishi does not accept reservations, and is open to campers on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, the owners of the lodge provide commentary about the stars at night on the terrace, and invite guests to join them to listen. While not located directly next to Shirakoma Pond, it's only about 10 minutes from the pond by car. Lodge Hours: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Fee: Tent site: 600 yen/person. General lodging starts at 5,500 yen/ person. Both of the above facilities also having standard accommodations as well, so if you want to stay the night and enjoy the starry skies and autumn leaves, but don't want to stay in a tent, you can always book a room in the lodges. Parking and Crowding at Shirakoma Pond During the Autumn Foliage Season Photo:Autumn leaves at Shirakoma Pond, Nagano Prefecture To get to Shirakoma Pond, it's best to use the parking lot on Route 299. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the pond on foot from the parking lot. That being said, because it's a famous spot for viewing the autumn leaves, more than 180,000 people visit Shirakoma Pond during the autumn foliage season, and the parking lot becomes incredibly crowded, especially on weekends. At the same time, many cars are entering and exiting the parking lot, resulting in heavy traffic congestion on the surrounding roads. The most crowded hours at Shirakoma Pond are between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on weekdays, and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on weekends and holidays. If you visit Shirakoma Pond to see the autumn leaves on a weekday, it may be better to go between 6:00 am and 9:00 am. On weekends and holidays, it might be smoother to go between 6:00 am and 8:00 am. However, in the past, there have been some reports that the parking lots were full as early as 9:00 am, so be sure to check the real-time parking conditions when visiting. For real-time information on congestion around Shirakoma Pond, you'll have the most luck using Twitter. Look up "白駒池" (Shirakoma Pond) in the Twitter search box to check the latest tweets. It's also recommended that you check live cameras installed at the Shirakoma Pond parking lot. Access the official website of the Shirakoma Pond toll parking lot to view the live camera, which is updated every 5 minutes. This is useful for checking the status of the parking lot and the weather in real time. Although it is convenient to drive to Shirakoma Pond during the fall foliage season, you may want to consider using public transportation if you're trying to avoid crowds and traffic jams. Summary of Autumn Leaves at Shirakoma Pond Photo:Autumn leaves at Shirakoma Pond, Nagano Prefecture Shirakoma Pond, located in Nagano Prefecture and famous for its autumn foliage, is the highest natural lake in Japan at 2,115 meters above sea level. During the fall foliage season, the azaleas and birch trees change color beautifully, creating a picturesque landscape. The Shirakoma Pond area is also famous for its "moss forest," which is home to 485 species of moss. The best time to see the mosses is from mid-June to the end of July, after Japan's rainy season, and visitors can enjoy the moss forest until early November every year. We invite you to experience the mysterious beauty of Shirakoma Pond as expressed in the video. 【TripAdvisor】Shirakoma Pond -

Its name comes from a legend that the local villagers saw an injured deer limping around, but after falling into the hot spring it miraculously recovered. Tsutsuji Suspension Bridge Tsutsuji Suspension Bridge is a beautiful bridge that stretches across a low valley. In the fall, the surrounding trees change to beautiful shades of yellow and orange and delight the eyes of visitors. The bridge itself is aesthetically pleasing as well, so be sure to take a photo with it when visiting. Besides the two places mentioned above, there are a number of other attractions in the area, including the famous "Killing Stone" located across the bridge. According to legends, the stone was said to hold the spirit of a nine-tailed fox demon that turned into such after being vanquished after attempting to assassinate Emperor Toba (1103-1156). In recent years, the stone suddenly split in half, and can still be seen by visitors. Also in the area are numerous waterfalls, museums, and many more exciting things to see and do. There are also some lovely azalea fields nearby that can be seen blooming in the spring. During autumn, they're known for their wonderful foliage. Summary of Autumn Leaves on Mt. Nasu Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Nasu (Mt. Chausu), Tochigi Prefecture The beautiful autumn leaves against the white smoke and black surface of the mountain make Mt. Nasu a sight that should be on anyone's bucket list. Mt. Nasu is expected to see heavy traffic during the autumn months. When visiting, it's recommended that you check not only the weather forecast, but also how far along the leaves are and how crowded the parking lots are with live cameras. After climbing the mountain, you can stop by an onsen (hot spring) to relax after a long day of hiking. Hot springs can be enjoyed by visitors on even one-day trips at Holiday Village Nasu. In addition to Mt. Nasu, Nikko National Park is home to a variety of scenic locations. If you're visiting Tochigi, be sure to take a moment to appreciate its natural beauty as well! [TripAdvisor] Mt. Video introduction - Craftsmanship of Kyoto Eel Specialty Restaurant This video, titled "Kyogoku Kaneyo: A Grilled Eel Master in Kyoto|the Art of an Eel Master Who Has Been Serving Grilled Eel for 58 Years" (58年間ひたすら鰻を焼き続けた鰻爺の職人技「京極 かねよ」), was uploaded by "WAZAIRO." It showcases the artisanal skills of the chef, from how the unagi (freshwater eel) is prepared to how the fluffy Japanese omelette is placed on top. What Is Kabayaki? Photo:Eel kabayaki Kabayaki is a method of cooking used in Japan wherein long, thin, scaleless fish are skewered and grilled in a teriyaki style (grilled while covered in a sweet soy sauce marinade). In Japan, this style of cooking is mainly used to prepare eel, but is also used to cook a number of other fish. Records show that kabayaki has existed in Japan since at least the late 1,300s, although the cooking method was different than that of modern day kabayaki. Chawanmushi, the Perfect Umami Flavor to Go With Your Unagi Photo:Chawanmushi The video shows the atmosphere of the restaurant and you can hear all of the appliances, etc. used in the restaurant as well. The chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard), which can be ordered for 600 yen, is a must-try. [Video] 0:45 - How Chawanmushi is Made Kansai-Style vs Kanto-Style Eel – The Different Styles of Eel in Japan After sitting in an ice bath for some time, the eels are then skillfully prepared by the chef. Although "Kaneyo" is a restaurant in Kyoto, they use the Kanto-style of preparing and grilling eels, known as "Edoyaki." Let's take a look at the differences between Kansai-style and Kanto-style eel. Kansai-style: The eels are opened from the belly, skewered without being steamed, and then grilled with the head still on the skewer and removed later. Kanto-style: The eels are opened from the back, steamed, skewered, and the head is removed before grilling. In the video, the eel is dexterously skewered and steamed by the chef. The steamed eel is dipped into the sauce and then broiled. The eels are grilled rapidly, with the cooking conditions carefully monitored by the skilled chef. [Video] 2:04 - Preparing and Cooking Eel What is Kinshi-don? The Specialty of Kyogoku Kaneyo Photo:Kinshi-don kinshi-don is the signature dish of Kyogoku Kaneyo, but what is it exactly? Kinshi-don refers to an eel bowl with a fluffy Japanese egg on top. In the video, you can see how the fluffy egg is cooked between two stoves with different heat levels, adjusting the heat to get the perfect omelette. The resulting dish, with a large, fluffy egg protruding from the bowl is both photogenic and delicious! Underneath the egg you'll find the perfectly cooked eel. Peeling back the egg to see the delicious eel underneath is part of what makes this dish such a treat. [Video] 15:40 - Cooking the Egg Used for Kinshi-don A Summertime Eel Eating Tradition in Japan Photo:Unaju Eel is known to be rich in vitamins, and as such, it became tradition to eat it during the summer months to ward off the fatigue caused by Japan's hot summers. The most common day for this is Doyo no Ushi no Hi, or "The Midsummer Day of the Ox." In 2023, this day falls on July 30 (Mon.). If you're looking to try some tasty Japanese eel, consider trying it on a hot summer day to beat the heat! Unagi vs Anago: The Different Types of Eel in Japan Photo:Anago (conger eel) sushi There are two types of eel commonly eaten in Japan: unagi and anago. Unagi is a freshwater eel, whereas anago (conger eel) is a saltwater eel. In terms of flavor, unagi (うなぎ) is known to have a richer flavor, while anago are said to have a lighter flavor. Because of this, unagi is often prepared in a kabayaki style, while anago is often steamed or prepared as tempura. As for nutrients, unagi generally has far more vitamins than anago. Kyogoku Kaneyo, a Restaurant in Kyoto You Don't Want to Miss! Kyogoku Kaneyo is located in downtown Kawaramachi, in the Nakagyo Ward of Kyoto. Founded in the early Taisho period (1912-1926), the restaurant boasts a traditional Japanese atmosphere and the same delicious taste, with eel grilled using a secret sauce that has been passed down for 100 years. There are several famous spots in Basho no Sato, such as Daioji Temple, which belongs to the Soto school of Buddhism (曹洞宗), as well as Kurobane Fukushi Park (黒羽福祉公園), and Kurobane Basho no Yakata (芭蕉の館). Fujiya Ryokan - Spend the Weekend at a Long-Standing Onsen in Yugawara, Kanagawa That Blends Classical and Modern Aesthetics

Fujiya Ryokan in Yugawara, Kanagawa This video, titled " Fujiya Ryokan [Selected Lodgings to Visit on Weekends]" (富士屋旅館【週末に訪れたくなる厳選宿】), was uploaded by "Relux Lodging Diary" (Relux宿日記). Fujiya Ryokan, featured in the video, is a popular long-established hot spring inn located in Yugawara, Kanagawa, in Japan's Kanto region, near Hakone. The hot springs and scenic beauty of the area between Yugawara and Hakone have a long history that is mentioned in ancient texts, such as the Manyoshu. Fujiya Ryokan already had a predecessor building in the late Edo period (around 1750-1860 AD), and the oldest building today, the Old Building, was built in 1923. The oldest building, the "Old Building" (旧館, Kyuu-kan) was built in 1923, making it a building with nearly 100 years of history. The New Building, the Old Building, and Rakumiso, all of which have equally elegant guest rooms, are connected by a long corridor that leads to the large bathhouse, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll through the Japanese garden before a relaxing bath. The Old Building, the (as its name implies) oldest building at the inn, provides guests with a stylish and tranquil space with a Taisho-modern taste of the time inherited through the use of fine 13.68-centimeter square pillars made of Japanese cypress and glass doors with kumiko panels. The New Building is a high-quality guest room that provides a conscious blend of Japanese and Western styles while maintaining the retro feel of the Showa period. The guest rooms can be viewed at 0:43 in the video. The History of Fujiya Ryokan in Yugawara, Kanagawa Source :YouTube screenshot According to "Guide to Yugawara" (湯河原案内, yugawara an'nai) published in 1918, Fujiya Ryokan started its business as a hot spring inn in 1920, and was called "Juhoen" at the time. After crossing the long bridge over the Fujiki River, you'll see a vast site lined with towers and annexes, and it is introduced as a famous ryokan where you can enjoy nature and flowers in every season. The large bath is a hot spring cypress bath with a weak saline solution (weak alkalinity), and is considered a beauty spring because its pH is close to that of human skin. You can see the large bath at 2:39 of the video. Of course, visitors can also enjoy the hot spring water in the indoor baths of their guest room. Fujiya Ryokan has been loved by many Japanese literary figures, including Doppo Kunikida, Natsume Soseki, Yosano Akiko, and Junichiro Tanizaki. Gourmet Dining at Fujiya Ryokan in Yugawara, Kanagawa Source :YouTube screenshot When you think of hot spring inns, besides the hot springs and luxurious rooms, if there's anything you don't want to miss out on, it's the delicious cuisine they serve. Fujiya Ryokan's restaurant, Hyorokutei, offers dishes that will make even the most seasoned gourmet's taste buds sing. The name "Hyorokutei" comes from the traditional good omen for good health - Gourds (Hyotan in Japanese). It combines the words "gourd" (Hyo)tan, six (roku), and "restaurant" (tei). (※Gourds have long been a good luck charm for good health in Japan) Savor the mouthwatering fish dishes made with a wide variety of Higashi-Izu seafood from Sagami Bay, as well as premium ingredients, such as Japanese black beef, locally harvested game dishes, and domestic eel. We also recommend the "dancing icefish," which you can see in the video at 2:18, served with ginger vinegar, a specialty of Yugawara. If you're too busy for an overnight stay, Fujiya Ryokan's one-day hot spring and gourmet plan is a great option. At Hyorokutei, even on a day trip, you can enjoy sumptuous kaiseki cuisine, shabu-shabu made with local sea bream, charcoal-grilled meat, and other delectable dishes. Summary of Fujiya Ryokan in Yugawara, Kanagawa Source :YouTube screenshot What did you think? Fujiya Ryokan, introduced in the video, has been chosen by foreign tourists as one of the best inns in Japan. Once you stay there, it's almost inevitable that you'll become a repeat guest! Enjoy hospitality and luxury that you can only find in Japan. SENDAI Pageant of Starlight: Video Introduction This video, titled "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight Introductory Video" (SENDAI光のページェント紹介動画), was uploaded by "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight" (SENDAI光のページェント). This video, released in 2020, introduces the SENDAI Pageant of Starlight and Starlight Fantasy: The Story of Santa's Forest held in Sendai, Miyagi, in Japan's Tohoku region. SENDAI Pageant of Starlight is a winter festival held at the main venue on Jozenji Street (定禅寺通, Jozen-ji Dori) in Sendai. It features fantastic, gentle illuminations and the smiling faces the festival's participants. The subtitles explain the festival and introduce the city of Sendai, the largest city in Japan's Tohoku region. There is also an English version, so be sure to check it out as well. ※The English version can be found in the video description. [Video] 0:10 - Explanation About SENDAI Pageant of Starlight SENDAI Pageant of Starlight – The History and Meaning of the Winter Festival Photo:SENDAI Pageant of Starlight, Sendai, Miyagi Here we'll introduce the SENDAI Pageant of Starlight, which has become a winter tradition in Sendai, Miyagi, the largest city in Japan's Tohoku region. The SENDAI Pageant of Starlight began in 1986, when citizens of Sendai volunteered to decorate the trees lining Jozen-ji Street and Aoba Street (青葉通, Aoba Dori) with lights in the hope of making the City of Trees the "City of Light." At the time, approximately 300,000 lights were used to illuminate 44 zelkova trees on Jozenji Street and 114 zelkovas on Aoba Street. The festival organizers opted to use the English word "pageant." However, the word "pageant" does not have the meaning of "illumination." Thus, the event was named "Pageant of Starlight" as opposed to "Illumination of Starlight" because it was named with the hope of bringing smiles to the faces of children who have been moved by the sight of something so beautiful. SENDAI Pageant of Starlight, which will be held for its 37th year in 2022, is supported by citizen donations and corporate sponsorships. In addition to donation boxes placed throughout the city, volunteers collect donations on the streets, and crowdfunding has helped this winter festival continue for more than 30 years. Okuzure Suisenkyo, Chiba Prefecture: Video Introduction This video, titled [HD] Chiba Prefecture, Kyonan 'Okuzure Suisenkyo' Daffodil Garden | Famous Flower Spot in Peak Season" ([HD]千葉県・鋸南町「をくづれ水仙郷」Daffodil Garden 花の名所 花見頃), was uploaded by "Discover Nippon." Kyonan, located on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba prefecture, is home to two famous daffodil spots - Okuzure Suisenkyo, (lit. Okuzure Narcissus Township) and Ezuki Narcissus Road, (江月水仙ロード), earning it a place as one of the "Top 3 Daffodil Colonies in Japan." The name "Okuzure" (をくずれ, sometimes romanized as "wokuzure") uses an unconventional spelling and is said to come from a dialectical pronunciation of local place name "Okuzure" (大崩, おくずれ, romanized as "okuzure"). Okuzure Suisenkyo, is a colony of daffodils stretching from Sakuma Dam's lakeside to the Okuzure area. Nurtured by an abundance of natural light, the gorgeous sight of the pretty, white daffodils blooming along the river makes this a superb sightseeing location. Between late December and late January (the peak of the daffodil season) a yearly "Daffodil Festival" (水仙まつり, suisen matsuri) is held at Okuzure Suisenkyo, At night there are illuminations, giving the festival a different atmosphere compared to daytime. Be sure to take a look at the mystical scenes produced by the daffodils blooming along the lakeside in the video. [Video] 0:00 - Sakuma Dam Lakeside Area Daffodils What Makes Okuzure Suisenkyo, Special? When to Visit? Photo:Daffodils at Okuzure Suisenkyo The town of Kyonan in Chiba Prefecture is listed alongside Awaji Island (淡路島, awaji-shima) of Hyogo and Fukui's Echizen Coast (越前海岸, echizen kaigan) as one of the "Top 3 Daffodil Colonies in Japan." Encompassing around 2.2 kilometers of land, the space between Sakuma Dam and the Okuzure area is known as Okuzure Suisenkyo, and is best visited between late December and late January, when the area is covered in daffodils as far as the eye can see. With every rice paddy in the area being of the terraced variety, the embankments that make up this beautiful scenery and the slopes at the mountain's foot provide rich soil for some 60 million daffodils over a vast area of approximately 12 acres. During the peak season at Okuzure Suisenkyo, from mid-December to mid-January, a direct delivery service is offered to ship daffodils nationwide so that people can enjoy the elegant flowers and fragrance of daffodils at home. In January of each year, when the daffodils are at their best, Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road play host to the Daffodil Festival, complete with illuminations. [Video] 0:00 - Sakuma Dam Lakeside Area Daffodils [Video] 2:07 - Sakuma Dam Lakeside Ezuki Narcissus Road, a Popular Hiking Trail + Daffodil Festival Illuminations, Events, and More! Source :YouTube screenshot Minamiboso is known for its warm climate, as expressed by an old saying "You don't need a single piece of underwear once you crest Mt. Nokogiri." Even during fierce winters with their westerly winds (westerlies in Japan bring cold air from Siberia over the country), thanks to a distribution of high pressures in the west and low pressure to the east inland, temperatures in the area remain relatively mild. Thanks to these weather conditions, daffodils from Kyonan are deeply scented and grow very tall. Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road are popular daffodil spots in Kyonan. Okuzure Suisenkyo is a 2.2-km area stretching from the Sakuma Dam area to the Okuzure area. Ezuki Narcissus Road refers to a road in the Ezuki area fringed for 3 kilometers on both sides by daffodils. A 30–40 minute walk each direction, the road is a popular hiking trail. Enjoy a stroll accompanied by a lovely view and the welcoming scent of the daffodils blooming along the road. Each year in January, just as the daffodils begin to bloom, the Daffodil Festival is held at Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road, attracting large numbers of tourists. During the daffodil festival a variety of activities are available, including "mochitsuki" (a Japanese tradition of pounding rice into a stretchy, sticky confection known as "mochi"), vegetable stores open, and events, such as stamp rallies, take place as well. At the shops lining the road, visitors can purchase daffodils in addition to the vegetables for sale. Sakuma Dam Park located on Ezuki Narcissus Road is the stage for a light show at night-time, and the daffodils appear to rise up out of the night, making for an ethereal spectacle. [Video] 1:47 - Daffodils and Illuminations Enjoy Cherry Blossoms in Spring at Sakuma Dam Lake Park Photo:Kawazu cherry blossoms at Sakuma Dam Lake Park Located on the shores of Sakuma Dam's reservoir lake, Sakuma Dam Lake Park (佐久間ダム湖親水公園, sakuma damuko shinsui koen) is known not only for its daffodils, but for its cherry blossoms too. Between early February and early March the Yoritomo cherry blossoms (also known as Kawazu sakura) bloom, followed by Yoshino cherries from late March to early April, and multi-layered cherry blossoms (八重桜, yae-zakura) from mid to late April, with a "Yoritomo Cherry Blossom Festival" (頼朝桜まつり, Yoritomo Sakura Matsuri) and "Cherry Blossom Festival" (桜まつり, Sakura Matsuri) being held accordingly. Be sure to enjoy mountain dyed pink by the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. In the vicinity of Sakuma Dam, the daffodils start to bloom as early as December, and as the season comes to an end in February the early-blooming Yoritomo cherry blossoms begin to flower, making it possible to experience a rare duet of daffodils and cherry blossoms. You can enjoy flowers at Sakuma Dam Lake Park at their best from winter, when the daffodils bloom, right through the cherry blossom season in the spring. Okuzure Suisenkyo, Chiba Prefecture: Roundup The "Daffodil Festival," held at one of the "Top 3 Daffodil Colonies in Japan," Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road, have highlights aplenty, offering not only gorgeous views of daffodils, but also illuminations, and a variety of other events. A field of daffodils stretching as far as the eye can see would make a pretty good phone background to keep as a reminder of this year's winter. Don't you think? 【TripAdvisor】Narcissus Road -

A Paradise of Precious Plants, Mt. Odaigahara, Nara: Video Introduction Photo:Autumn at Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture This video, titled "[Official] Higashi Odaigahara, Kamikitayama, Nara|Promotional Video (Short Ver.)" (【公式】奈良県上北山村・東大台ヶ原(HIGASHI ODAIGAHARA)プロモーション映像(短編)), was uploaded by "kamikitayama." Mt. Odaigahara is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and the entire mountain is designated as Yoshino-Kumano National Park. It's divided into Higashi-Odaigahara, which anyone can visit, and Nishi-Odaigahara, which requires advance permission to enter in order to protect the natural environment. Enjoy the beauty of Higashi-Odaigahara, a charming place for hiking, mountain climbing, and even just a walk, in the video below. Higashi-Odaigahara – A Popular Hiking and Trekking Spot With Beginner Courses Photo:A suspension bridge at Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is a sightseeing spot selected as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and 100 Unexplored Regions of Japan. The mountain is located in Kamikitayama, Nara, in Japan's Kansai region. Mt. Odaigahara is popular among climbers and hikers because of its unrestricted access. Mt. Odaigahara has four trekking trails that can be climbed and hiked, ranging from beginner to advanced courses. The A trail (middle trail) for beginners starts from the Mt. Odaigahara parking lot and passes Hinodegatake, Masakigahara, Owashi Tsuji, Ushiigahara, Ojigura, and Owashi Tsuji before returning to the parking lot again. From the observatory on Mt. Hinodegatake, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Omine Mountain Range and other mountains, and if the weather is nice early in the morning, you may even be able to see Mt. Fuji. As the name "Hinodegatake" (lit. "Sunrise Mountain") suggests, the summit is known as a sunrise viewing spot where visitors can watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain. Masaki Pass, located just before Masakigahara, offers a mysterious view of dead and fallen trees on a wide hill, and a spectacular view of the Kumano-nada Sea beyond. Masakigahara is a vast grassy area with trees and a view of Masaki Pass in front of it, where wild deer are frequently seen. The highlight of the beginner course in Higashi-Odaigahara is Daijagura, an 800-meter precipice that offers visitors a panoramic view of the Omine Mountains. Trail A for beginners is about 9 km long and takes about 4 hours to complete. Trail B, for intermediate-level climbers, is the same as Trail A with the addition of Shiokara Valley. This popular course has a slope called "Shakunage Slope" (Rhododendron Slope) where rhododendrons bloom for about a week every year from May 20, leading up to Shiokara Valley. Shiokara Valley has a suspension bridge, and visitors can also enjoy a walk along it downstream. Nishi-Odaigahara, a Treasure Trove of Nature That Requires a Permit to Enter Photo:The outdoors of Nishi-Odaigahara Mt. Odaigahara can be divided into two main areas. One is the Higashi-Odaigahara area, where anyone can enjoy climbing and hiking, and the other is the Nishi-Odaigahara area, where advance permission is required to enter the mountain. The Nishi-Odaigahara area is designated as a special protection area to preserve the natural environment, and the number of people entering the mountain is restricted. Nishi Odaigahara receives approximately 5,000 millimeters of annual rainfall, as much as that of Yakushima Island, and features virgin forests nurtured by the rain, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscape with its pristine vegetation. Wildlife and the Four Seasons on Mt. Odaigahara Photo:The Milky Way from Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is home to a large number of wild animals. In addition to the deer of Masakigahara, there are Japanese serows, foxes, tanuki (Japanese raccoon dogs), marten, and Japanese squirrels, as well as many wild birds, such as Eurasian jays and wrens, and great spotted woodpeckers. Mt. Odaigahara is also a popular photo spot because of its lush greenery, seas of clouds, and beautiful starry skies. If you're looking to take some Instagram photos, this is definitely a place to visit! In autumn, you can see the leaves turned beautiful shades of red and orange, and in the cold winter months, if you're lucky, you can see the local flora covered in rime. A Hiking Trip for Advanced Hikers Photo:Dogura Falls, Osugidani Valley, Mie Prefecture For advanced hikers looking for an adventure to discover the beauty that is Japan's nature, there's a course that will take you on a 10-mile hike from Osugidani Valley, an idyllic place of interest, to the breathtaking Mt. Odaigahara. This hike will take even the most advanced hikers at least 2 days to complete due to the terrain, but if you're up to the challenge and have the experience, it's well worth your time. During the hike, you'll pass Dogura Falls (堂倉滝), a waterfall with a 20-meter drop and a beautiful basin where you can relax and take a break while hiking, Nanatsugama Falls (七ツ釜滝), a unique, 7-tiered waterfall, and Shishi-buchi (シシ淵), a breathtaking canyon with a waterfall hidden at the back of sheer cliffs, and a myriad of other points of interest. As the hike will take 2-3 days to complete, you'll need to stay overnight at the rest stop Momonoki Yamanoie (桃の木山の家). The Ohsugidani Tozan Center has maps with detailed courses as well (including this one and other shorter tours), which we highly recommend checking out. ※For information on reservations, routes, and hiking conditions/seasons, please contact the Ohsugidani Tozan Center (大杉谷登山センター). ※Camping and campfires are strictly prohibited in the Mt. Odaigahara and Osugidani Valley area. ※Because weather in the area can change quickly, it's necessary to bring sufficient equipment for rainy conditions. ※If you have any doubts in your hiking abilities or you are unable to acquire the necessary information for a safe hike, we strongly suggest waiting until you are fully prepared. ※It's recommended that you bring a helmet, as there is a danger of falling rocks along the hiking trail. Summary of Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Photo:Osugidani Valley, Mt. Odaigahara, Nara Prefecture Mt. Odaigahara is also a registered UNESCO Eco Park, and efforts are also being made to promote symbiosis between nature and people. When visiting Mt. Odaigahara, it's recommended that you use public transportation. If you take a bus departing from Yamato-Kamiichi Station, you can reach Mt. Odaigahara in about 2 hours. If you're driving, please note that the parking lot may be full during high seasons, such as autumn, when the leaves change color. Mt. Odaigahara, also known as the "Roof of the Kinki Region," is also famous as a summer retreat. A walking map of Higashi-Odaigahara is available for climbers and hikers as well. If you're looking to explore the beautiful outdoors of Japan, then consider a trip to Mt. Odaigahara. 【TripAdvisor】Mt. Odaigahara -

Flower Garden of Light, a Mother Farm Illumination: Video Introduction Photo:An illumination at Mother Farm This video, titled "Mother Farm Illuminations 2019-2020 — Flower Garden of Light" (マザー牧場 イルミネーション 2019-2020 光の花園), was uploaded by "Mother Farm" (マザー僕所). In this video, you can watch the 2019-2020 Flower Garden of Light event, a light show which took place at Mother Farm. Mother Farm is located on the slopes of Mt. Kano (鹿野山, kano-zan), from which breathtaking views of the Boso Peninsula, Tokyo Bay, Mt. Fuji, and Japan's beautiful mountain ranges can be seen. Occupying a vast swathe of land in Futtsu, Chiba, in Japan's Kanto region, Mother Farm was established in February 1962 by Hisakichi Maeda, the same man who established the Sankei Shimbun (a daily newspaper in Japan) and Tokyo Tower. One of Mother Farm's biggest draws is the fact that visitors can interact with a large variety of animals through events and feeding experiences. With great food and events, there's enough excitement for both kids and adults to spend a full day thoroughly enjoying themselves here. This hugely popular leisure spot in Japan's Kanto region is one of the first things that comes to mind when people think of Chiba prefecture. Of all of Mother Farm's seasonal events, the one that has people buzzing in anticipation about the most each year is the winter illumination show. With the theme "Flower Garden of Light," the show's colorful lights — which resemble the seasonal flowers of Japan — will bring the farm to life at night once again this year. Check out the video and be captivated by the farm's beautiful illuminations. In the Flower Field of Light area, visitors can see such delights as Mt. Fuji silhouetted against the dusk sky and Tokyo Bay's night views, all while enjoying the illuminations. The combination of the wintry flower meadow's twinkling lights and the surrounding scenery as the sunlight begins to fade, slowly giving way to night makes this a must-see attraction. ●Photo spot fairy area The newly introduced fairy area in 2023 will feature a landscape of melancholy light such as flower fields and windmills. Let's take a cute picture in "Fairy Country". ● Night-Time Amusement Park The sparkling Night-Time Amusement Park is home to Chiba's tallest (at its tallest point) Ferris wheel, merry go rounds, and, located 321 meters above sea level, the Night-Time Bungie Jump. Both children and adults are sure to lose track of time as they enjoy playing to their hearts' content. Food and Accommodations at Mother Farm Source :YouTube screenshot It would be a crime to miss the warming farm cuisine available at Mother Farm. Available only during the illumination season, the "All-You-Can-Eat Big Double Winter Warmer" (あったか2大食べ放題) offers Meisui Bamboo Steamed Mochi Pork (high quality pork steamed using water from a renowned water source), which can only be eaten at this time of year, and jingisukan (a Japanese mutton dish named after Ghengis Khan) on a 90-minute all you can eat menu. The warm, tasty food is sure to revitalize after enduring the cold temperatures outside. Add in a fully-stocked side menu and collection of limited sale sweets, and even the biggest of appetites will be satiated without a doubt. Mother Farm also offers value set tickets, advance tickets, and group plans, so make sure you check these out as well. [Video] 0:34 - All-You-Can-Eat Big Double Winter Warmer For those wishing to stay overnight, Mother Farm's partner hotel, Okura Akademia Park Hotel will get you in that holiday resort state of mind, and can be reached in 25 minutes by car from Mother Farm. It is also conveniently located approximately 60 minutes from central Tokyo via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line. Okura Akademia stands on the Kazusa Hill Range, surrounded by the sea and an abundance of greenery. An elegant and refined space with a balcony in each guest room, and seasonal ingredients from the Boso Peninsula in the restaurant, it's a great place to rest your weary body after a fun-filled day. Animal Events at Mother Farm Photo:A sheep at Mother Farm, Chiba Prefecture One of the biggest reasons for Mother Farm's popularity is that visitors can actually interact with the animals. This remains true even throughout the illumination season at Mother Farm. Relax with rabbits and guinea pigs at Bunny-Guinea Touch (うさモルタッチ, usa moru tacchi), or interact with fluffy sheep with a sheep feeding experience. It's a soothing experience for kids and adults alike. We hope you'll have a wonderful time with the adorable animals at these events! Mother Farm Illumination: Roundup Be it the night views, the cuisine, or the events, there's so much to do at the Mother Farm illumination!
